Interior Design: Tour A Black, White, And Wood California-Inspired Masterpiece
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 бер 2024
- Designer Parris McKenna masters the black, white and wood aesthetic in this California-inspired home in the Toronto beaches. “We wanted to focus on natural materials and textures so there’s a lot of wicker, wood and muted colors,” says designer Parris McKenna. See how she contrasts white oak with checkerboard floors in the foyer, dark shiplap walls in the living room and a dark Quartzite backsplash in the kitchen.

This home proves neutral doesn't have to be boring! That backsplash in the kitchen is freaking awesome! ❤
The archways separating the spaces are my absolute favorite.
Once again, the placement of the TV next to the fireplace is lovely! I cannot stand TVs above fireplaces. This is perfect I wish I had the space for something like this.
Yes, just yes. So warm so stylish and comfortable. Very organic and everything id want. Love the modern take on all the wood usage and that countertop backsplash is gorgeous
I’m obsessed with how beautiful and peaceful this space is!
Absolutely stunning, especially that striking backsplash!! ❤❤❤❤❤
This house is so beautiful
Wow, sophistication and calmness, all in one. 🤍🤍🖤🖤
Looking forward to see some smaller homes especially post war bungalows. There are so many in Toronto. Most of the people don’t live in a large home.
Yes!!!
I love the warmth of all of the wood, and the pops of black!
Even though it's very nuetral, it's wonderfully warm, which you don't see often with neutral spaces. I love the organic look from the wood, and stone and other elements. You could even throw another plant or two in the space to add to the organic look. I LOVE that there is a living room & a separate family room!! Most all of these open concept spaces today give you one olace to do everything which means anyone coming into your space is going to see whatever disaster you have because we know the space doesn't normally look like it does for the video. People do live in these spaces and life is messy.
My dream home ❤. Saving this for inspo for my future forever home.
Lovely your dream will come true❤
Amazing!!!Great job.
So pretty and sophisticated, yet cozy and grounded. Parris is talented.
This is absolutely gorgeous. Simple but elegant ❤
I love this. I was thinking about doing my old rustic table but now I think I’m gonna go with a black that looks so elegant and beautiful. You guys did an amazing job.😄🖤😄
Absolutely beautiful!
I wanna have a house that I cant wait to go home after work vibes.
Beautiful!
I'm so bored of neutral palettes, but the design of this home is excellent. I love the arches, the off-center fireplace, that amazing backsplash, and the interesting wallpaper in the powder room. Well done on meeting the customers' needs with neutral but still designing a gorgeous home.
Ese papel es precioso.
Beautiful 😍
Absolutely gorgeous ! The designer should feel very proud x
Very laxarious and stanning❤🎉
Really beautiful earth tone with black and white.
Absolutely STUNNING! Brilliant job!
Such a gorgeous gorgeous house. The most beautiful i've seen in quite some time. ❤❤❤❤
The bathroom is lovely. I would like to see more pattern and color in the principal rooms to bring some life to the space.
Wow! Great transformation
Beautiful home❤
STUNNING!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
such beautiful finishes!
Beautiful🤩
Love love love
Loveeeee!!!!
Everything is so stylish and laxarious and warming❤🎉🎉🎉
Love the kitchen
Amazing 👏
This is lovely. Without the black, this house would have fallen into sad beige territory. And this is a better way to do open concept. The sight line is open but each room is separate and defined.
i like very much, good job! i want to see the bedrooms too xD
Qué hermoso...
Houses have trends too and we’re going through a warm minimalism or Japandi or quiet luxury style I think.
For now, if you’re looking for something different, try searching by name the style you like. Or try European AD. You won’t necessarily get small but you will get different.
Está bien la decoración, pero me gustó como se ve el aseo el papel que utilizaron está muy bonito
This is absolutely beautiful. When can I move in??
Can anyone provide a link to the neutral checkered rug in the front living room area? I've been searching for something like this! Love it ❤
What is paint color in the mud room? Love it ❤
Looks really lovely , but wouldn’t that front living room be really cold in the winter, when you had to open the front door?
Yes from me.
Could you please provide the link to sofa in living room?
I find this home to be quite beautiful with my favorite parts being the fireplace and the kitchen backsplash. Is the fireplace gas or wood? I’m figuring it’s gas, and the wood is for styling.
🥰
A lot of white oak in the kitchen, maybe too much.? I would’ve chosen a different wood, colour and style for the kitchen island stool’s
Something that would stand out from all the white oak, just like the backsplash!
The house is beautiful but why weren't the front windows changed? They don't match with the updates in the house.
While your videos are well done, these homes are all starting to look alike; warm woods, ubiquitous mill work in the mud room, wide panels of quartz or stone as splash backs, archways, big sliding door to the backyard. Where's the originality? Where are the new ideas?
Respectful, but critical: Well said. I couldn’t agree more.
It's an editorial problem. Their video content used to showcase a wider range of homes, especially smaller spaces. Now it's all these Instagram mansions.
Totally agree. I don't live in Canada, so every time I watch these videos I think, "Do all houses in Canada look alike? Do they all have the same floor plan?" I enjoy the videos and admire the work, but the house plans and styles do all look the same.
Although I liked many of the remodeling, this house has soooo much beige.
What the client wants the client gets neutral colors make them feel their houses homy. So whats the problem?
It’s lovely however some nice orange artificial flowers or plants to add some colour
Very nice flow but I feel like it would have made more sense to draw design influence from cottage country, as opposed to SoCal.
I thought pot filler faucets were considered outdated.
If its functional to the owner who cares about whether its considered "outdated"?
Everything looks great but the seating area in the family room. Too tonal.
Again like most homes featured here, they are beautifully designed, in fact extremely well designed, but I’m so tired now of this neutral, dare I say it, bland colour palette and minimalist decor. I would love to see some smaller homes with more quirky and maximalist decoration for a change.
Apart from an obviously well done design, that “before” house needed a good cleaning.
Beautiful home but I’m tired of the farmhouse vibes. I think it’s time to move on now.
and thats exactly what you can do in your own home. 😊
Design feels common…beige, cream and black. Every home looks the same.
Really? The architecture design is so beautiful and custom. The use of wood is so cozy!
Amazing design, not authentic to California though. needs to add at least 3 homeless ppl.
The home isn’t in California; it is in Toronto Canada..
Benches and open shelves again and again. Let me sit on the bench and wait for a bus. Just continue with vertical storage. They showed the same chair 5 times. Too much wood. No LED backlights. Ugly wallpaper in a powder room. Why should even be a wallpaper?
Looks like a hospital waiting room
Beautiful!
