    • @langedocalgvazil8903
      @langedocalgvazil8903 3 роки тому +2

      Floks 700 - The name of the city "Vladivostok" is translated from Russian as OWN, to rule over the East😋 - although, if you really want to, you can paraphrase this name and as "To be in harmony, in harmony with the East." Russia has two such cities with similar names - Vladivostok in the Far East and Vladikavkaz in the North Caucasus. The name of this second city can be translated as "To own, rule over the Caucasus" - or, "To be in harmony, in harmony with the Caucasus". There is a funny ambiguity in the definition of these names.😎 There is also a third city in Russia with a similar name, it is called "Vladimir" and this city is about a thousand years old, its name can be translated as "To own the World, to rule over the world" - but you can just see in this name one of the old Slavic male names - this also has a certain initial ambiguity.☺

It’s also a surprise for you to find out that the Border Between the USA and Russia is only 2 miles.And also, there is a unique Region - the Fire and Ice Region, where there are more than 300 volcanoes of which 34 are active, the highest active volcano of the entire continent is also located in this region, there are also more than 14,000 rivers, more than 100,000 crystal clear lakes and waterfalls, geysers , thermal and mineral springs, the only place where all species of salmon spawn, the region of the world's largest crab and the region with the largest Grizzly population in the World, more than 26,000 individuals. Vladivostok is a beautiful city, though a lot of cars and old public transport but nature compensates for everything. Magnificent bridges, beautiful bays. The city has great prospects, I would even say huge. Soon there will be a mortgage at 2% per annum and throughout the far East. It was a prospect since the Russian empire due to its location, it may grow. however it just stays like that. just a promise. It was important as Japanese autos were imported to Russia via the city, at the start of this century. since that stopped. just natural resources and services are left in the city. a mortgage with 3% may look attractive but with the cost of living there with American real state prices, it sounds crazy..

It's unfortunate when government fails to step up to do more for its people- something as simple as enough trash cans and national park maintenance. I think the 'shock therapy' policies following the fall of communism eg mass wholesale privatisations etc were a mistake. Clinton, the IMF and Jeffrey Sachs have something to answer for here. The result was appalling income inequality, corruption, oligarchs,, dysfunction. Perhaps Sweden is a model of a successful mixed economy they can follow.

      It's still rare in Russia too see people that pick up the rubbish, we do subbotnik's mainly in spring when there is a lot of trash outside accumulated in winter

    • @Chikanuk
      @Chikanuk 4 роки тому +4

      Yeah, back in Eltsin years most of towns was pretty dirty. No trash bins, and culture of keeping city clean was lost in USSR. But in the last 20 years this was improved. People start to care about it, government build alot of trash bins (never mention how important this things are untill you dont have them around)... Ofc many things still must be improved in this area, but progress already made. Honestly things like this is better signs about good change in my country than big construction or military projects.

    I’m feeling kinda depressed living here. Mostly after visiting a lot of Asian cities such as Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong etc, but especially Singapore.
    But your video is great, I liked it a lot. You showed the city from good side, we shouldn’t forget about them, despite of all the problems and inconveniences we have here.

    That was so much fun! Vladivostok looks like a wonderful city to live in or visit. I felt sorry for the clean up crews who were embarrassed by the garbage on the beach. They really care about their city. That attitude will filter through the community and help the city prosper. (A few local government heads might need some sense knocked in to them!) Thanks for making the long trip to show us the city and some of its people. Good job!

    I'm from Singapore and I visited Vladivostok 3 years ago. It was really cold in winter but Russky Island and Tobizina Cape was absolutely beautiful. I didn't see that much garbage on the beaches but maybe because they were covered by the snow. Near Tokarevsky Lighthouse there is also a really nice banya which you can rent for a few hours.
    I do think they can build nicer shopping centres because some of the malls in the city centre are quite old and don't have much on offer.
