    These videos are pretty incredible, most travel shows need a whole team of people to make and write, but yan makes it look effortless just by herself; add to that the drone footage and candid conversations and it's honestly one of the best things on youtube.

    I'm from Russia and it is so interesting to watch people who know very little about it exploring it. I'm also happy that you started your journey from rural, small areas, not in Moscow or St. Petersburg. There are many large and beautiful cities besides Moscow and St. Petersburg. The problem with small towns is that they are dying out as people leave there for bigger cities, so there is reluctance to invest there and little investment flow. If a small town is not a transportation hub or does not have a good industry, it is likely to die out.

    • @Llanter
      @Llanter Місяць тому +1

      I know there's more, but for tourists is usually those two. It is not like little investment happens because people are leaving, it's people leaving because there's little investment. Small towns are dying because all money goes to Moscow. Even things produced in the region cost too much for salaries in the same region. And tourists from other countries should see those dying towns and villages. Because this is how the majority of people live and this is where our culture preserved

    I am from Norway. We also have a border with Russia. I have never been to that border. I have not even been anywhere near on the Norwegian side. We imagine it is something incredibly far away and that everything will feel alien to us if we entered the other side of the border. Now. The government wants to close things more for us. Complicating visiting eachother and exchanging experiences. Too bad. I hope things will be simpler in the future, and that we can try to understand eachother instead of being hostile.

    • @juodagalvesniegena714

      You can easily travel through Estonian boarder but without a car,there's lines on Estonian side of people waiting to cross into Russia for tourism,people go from Estonia to St.Petes. Also Belarus has visa-free for Europeans. If you wanna travel you can go,just expect EU to confiscate euro's so take only dollars. I live in Lithuania and even in 2022 in a month 200k ppl would travel to Belarus to buy stuff,basic food,gas.(you can imagine what % of our population every month traveled cuz they cant afford EU prices which are highest in Lithuania,even in Germany food is cheaper)
      Then Lithuanian gov banned carrying more than 200 euro's when crossing the boarder and they started keeping up the cars to annoy and punish Lithuanians who just want to feed their families and not live in poverty. I remember how ppl would take their montly salary and buy up,it would turn out 3-4 times cheaper so you can imagine why ppl went,even those without cars,there used to be a free bus from Vilnius to Belarus who would take elderly who would bring huge bags. Now LT boarder holds up 1 car for 2-3 hours on purpose and the gov calls 200k citizens traitors and put them on lists and take away their passports so they couldn't leave the country.

    I don't know why, but it kind of blows my mind a little that the far east of Russia looks *so* european. I'm from the far east of Germany, and we are quite heavily influenced by slavic roots. Not gonna lie, it looked kinda familiar. And then you look on a map, and it's basically the other side of the world. Russia is just so *insanely* huge, wow. That aside, I really enjoy your vidoes so much. Following along is like going on the trip with you and I love that you don't shy away from difficult situations. You are so incredibly open and it opens so many doors wherever you go. It's a pleasure to watch :)

      From China's perspective, Putin always wanted to integrate into Europe in the early days of his administration (Russians consider themselves Europeans), so he made many concessions to NATO. However, NATO just wants the enemy to consolidate its position, control more people, and provide more funds to the military-industrial complex. Chinese: They think we are just doing business and no one should control each other and live their own lives. I don't know if this paragraph has been deleted again. Because 70% of comments from Chinese people will be deleted by the system

    Your video proves that even in our troubled world today, mostly people are just trying to live their life in their own bubbles of survival and that although language can be a barrier - with the help of media tools it can be crossed. I found in Shenzen and Chengdu, a couple of weeks ago translate apps were used to almost hold conversations. This video is an interesting insight into a part of Russia no one hears much about in the news. The map of the Siberian Railway gives an indication just how far east it runs. Looking forward to the next instalment.
