    DIY DARK CHOCOLATE + SEA SALT KIND BAR RECIPE:
    2 cups whole toasted unsalted almonds
    3/4 cup whole roasted unsalted peanuts
    3/4 cup toasted walnuts, chopped
    1/2 cup crispy rice cereal
    1 tbsp flaxseed meal
    1/2 cup honey
    1/3 cup brown rice syrup
    3/4 teaspoon sea salt
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 cup dark chocolate chips
    1 tbsp coconut oil
    Generously grease/spray a 13 x 9-inch pan (I used a quarter sheet pan).
    In a large bowl, combine almonds, peanuts, walnuts, cereal and flaxseed; set aside.
    In a medium saucepan set to medium-high heat, combine honey, brown rice syrup, salt and vanilla. Stir frequently, until mixture reaches 260 degrees F on a candy thermometer (hard ball stage).
    Immediately pour syrup over nut mixture. Stir until all ingredients are well incorporated.
    Pour mixture into prepared pan and spread evenly. Refrigerate for 20 minutes to harden.
    Once hardened, cut into 20 bars.
    Melt chocolate and oil in your microwave, in 30 second increments, stirring until smooth. Drizzle bars with melted chocolate. Refrigerate to let chocolate set.
    Makes 20 bars.

    if you add the nuts TO the syrup in the hot pan you dont need the extra bowl and it stays warmer and easier to stir.

    Instead of rice syrup I’m going to use coconut sugar 😋 oh and put thin rice paper on the bottom of the pan and on the top of the already shaped bars and I’m going to swap the rice crisps out for coconut flakes 😋 ( wish me luck)

    Not trying to be a Debbie Downer or anything but like another person mentioned, it's probably cheaper to go to Costco to buy these. After doing the math I estimated around $25-$35 to make these if you have to buy most if not all of the ingredients.

    • @kberken
      @kberken 6 років тому +1

      Robin Ellis Wow that's a lot. She used almonds, peanuts and walnuts. Chocolate chips and sweetener. If you buy nuts at Trader Joe's you can make a lot of bars for$35..

    • @skeleton1765
      @skeleton1765 6 років тому +1

      Robin Ellis you under estimate how expensive Kind bars are. It’s like $1.25 a bar. You could make these cheaper. You’d definitely need to make a larger batch than she did to get the value out of it. The amount she made wasn’t worth the trouble.

    • @princeoftheves1549
      @princeoftheves1549 5 років тому +1

      If you do it yourself you can control the ingredients. Those kind bars at costco are full of low quality crap like glucose syrup, hence the low price.

    • @jaymiiknierum4014
      @jaymiiknierum4014 5 років тому

      not only can you control the ingredients, you are also creating less waste. No more plastic wrappers, packaging and all the other industrial cost involved. Also... fun??? And if money is the biggest factor for you and you don't want to have to buy a candy thermometer you can do whats called a "water test" to test if the syrup is ready

      I tried it yesterday, I used 300 grams of nuts (hazelnuts, peanuts and walnuts) and 250 grams of Honey.
      They were very deicious! Loved that roasted falvor!
      But next time I will use less Honey (50 grams less) because at the bottom of the bar, there was still some liquid honey.
      Must have twisted something when I converted the cup measurments into the metric ones..
      So yeah, only honey will work :)
