What metric are hyou using to define best? I would really like to know, or is it just your fav? Personally Derek bores me, he tends to overdo solos so much , he needs to learn less is more. He really needs to listen to Kossoff.
Young Duane did himself and his dad proud on this one. NICE. I liked that he put his own licks in most of this, then the signature licks of his dad's, right at the end of his solo, with the guitar harmony and all. Call me a sentimental old fart, but I clouded up, a little, with it.
Sentiment is one of mans greatest attributes. I'd rather be on the battlefield with someone who's sentimental than a man in it with a cold heart an selfish soul. You most likely feel the music more than a lot of people I cry alot listening to the Allman Brothers an the Grateful Dead.
I think of Duane Betts as the next generation from the Allman Brothers, but for some reason I don't think of Derek Trucks that way as much -- probably because Derek played in the ABB for 15 years, and those 15 years were my second favorite era of the ABB, second only to the early years with Duane Allman. (Though the early 1990s were a great era too.) But in reality, you're right. Derek and Duane are both part of that next generation, in the sense that each of them is either the son or the nephew of an original ABB member. And yes, it's wonderful to hear them keeping these great songs alive.
I absolutely love this!!! Side note: If you have not checked out Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Experience, you should! Talk about 2nd generation of the greatest of all time… he’s been playing zeppelin longer than zeppelin played zeppelin!
Man, for us old enough to have seen young long haired Dickey back in the day, this is eerily wonderful! What a fine job folks! One of the most perfect songs ever!
I was going to pretty much say the same so I just hit the like button. Starting to listen more of Duane and now after hearing him on this you gotta love it. Peace out brother
I happened to be at the Allman Brothers concert at The Manhattan Center in NYC August 18th 1971. They debuted”Blue Sky “that night. I was so excited to hear a new song that I hadn’t heard by them. I was especially excited when Dickey sang going to Carolina because I’m a proud Tarheel.
I try to explain that to people because I have that relationship with music. I'm a musician I'm a little bit rusty but that's okay. But there's something about putting on a really good pair of headphones closing your eyes and listening to some of your favorites it's better than paying $100 an hour for therapy. And if you listen enough you can tell who is playing your favorite instrument being at the guitar being at the base be it's the trumpet. My life would be nothing if I didn't have music I would be a miserable bastard
Absolutely love this!!!!! Close your eyes and you’re transported to the 70’s!!! Great talent, 2nd generation honoring some of the very best that ever lived!!!
I am so blessed to have grown up with this great muse . I was at the Fillmore East 3/ 12 / 71 and too many other shows to count since Blue Skies is always a favorite the guitar interplay was always awesome then and now no surprise that these two great young guitarists would keep it so close to the roots God bless Southern Rock
My sons are in their 30's and listen to all kinds of music. Old and new. Recently my son is playing this on his phone after Dickey passed away. I just smiled. What else could i do. 😁
Terrible, right. Although, he had a rough way of life. I am getting ready to reboot an old channel about music and reminded people at the end of my RIP that it's not for us to reconcile loved ones when they pass. I don't know who they replaced Yonrico and M'butu with, do you?
Tedeschi &Trucks, true musicians keeping the music alive, keeping the family close. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all communicate through music at this point.
Amazing to see these two collaborating. I met Derek when he was a pre-teen and then went to see his shows in downtown West Palm Beach. Butch would call my radio show and promote his shows. Hung out with Duane's dad at a capitol hill hotel during a radio conference. We smoked , drank a beer and talked about his new solo album. He was the nicest rock star. Bravo guys and Susan as always!
It seems like every solo Derek play, he just brings you beyond wear you tryna get in life! It's not just his instrument but his complete being as a well rounded individual. His music speaks for him and we respond back by showing him we appreciate him and his music.
I will say, I have never had a celebrity crush before, untill I saw Derek and Susan perform this at the Crossroads festival. More s The way that Susan looks at Derek when he plays. And to top it off she is also a stellar player herself, they have total respect for each other.
Dang, he looks and sounds so much like Dicky. That's crazy, but it's very cool. And he is a darn nice person, met him years ago when he was playing with Great Southern, just a kid.
There were certain times during this performance that I thought WAS actually seeing Dicky! Amazing! Love this!!! Can’t wait to see Tedeschi Trucks in Milwaukee this August! Wouldn’t it be great if Duane was there too? Thank you for posting this.
Thank you...fantastic...goose bumps..!its a rainy day her in east tenn..but the sun just came out as im seeing this sitting on back of my truck...😁..god bless ALLA YALL..!
This might be Duane's best solo ever. Channeling his pops. Susan was positively beaming and even the stoic Derek eventually conceded. Very very good rendition, very enjoyable.
Outstanding! Have heard this in so many iterations since the impeccable brilliant original and this one stands out for it's soul and pure musicianship. Derek brings it to another level like he does just about everything and Duane just brings it. Bravo!
Outstanding version, so wonderful to see Susan beaming away listening to Duane and Derek absolutely killing it on their solos! My first time hearing Duane play solos and woah, such a fine player! The double leads with Derek--sigh--gorgeous! Thank you gentlemen! Excellent vocals by Susan as usual. What a band!!!!!!!!! Love you guys!
How lost am I. Always loved the Allman Brothers, but never heard this band. Now I have. And I can't play a lick, but I can hear and I can feel. And this feeling they drive into my soul is like no other. I pray heaven has them on a nonstop circular reel. Won't mind dying!!!
That was so emotional to see. I’m in floods of tears. That song is a thread that runs through my whole life and TTB and Dickie paid massive respect to the original. A masterful and joyful performance all round. Thanks for posting!
If there’s ever been a prettier tune ever written I’ve not heard it…a tune that brings🥲to your eyes…resonates…took me back to my livin’ room when this album came out and replay in’ it over and over to see if I could tell when Duane/Dickey switched leads…and it’s amazin’ what Duane And Derek AND Susan & Company just makes one want to say “WE appreciate what Y’ALL do night in and night out to see we still say “Get the Got Damn 🔥🧯….these folks are on fire!!!! Thank You TTB and Duane Betts….🍑🍄!
Not only are they extremely talented but in a way extremely brave. Knowing they will be compared to one of, if not the greatest live band in history takes more than great talent. I've seen nearly every band from late 60's through 70's in concert, including Allman Brothers 10+ times; Zeppelin, Clapton, Stones, Deep Purple, Eagles, Beach Boys to name just a fraction; the most powerful and dynamic band imo -The Allman Brothers. There's a great reason why Clapton was so impressed.
Dickies son rockn for dad and himself! Susan and hubby rockn it out with style The brothers are smiling down upon you all ,keep the spirit going they live and so we!! Stay blessed
Stunningly talented group. The joy is evident. Nailing this Song so definitively is the greatest tribute that one could pay to the Allman Brothers, and only people of such talent could approach this. All the feeling, all the style and as close to perfection as one could imagine.
I LOVE THIS SONG I LOVE YOU GUYS this makes me so happy realy enjoy watching you guys all to gather they are loooking down watching your all GOD BLESS YOU ALLLL thank you so much
This is the best band out today. No one else comes close.
The war on drugs?
100%
Could watch them every night
What metric are hyou using to define best? I would really like to know, or is it just your fav? Personally Derek bores me, he tends to overdo solos so much , he needs to learn less is more. He really needs to listen to Kossoff.
@@markhill9275 I love Derek's solos. The rest of the band's musicians are all top-flight musicians. Tell me what band out today is better.
Music is so subjective. It comes down to a listener preference. I love what TDD does. Also loving what Marcus King Band does.
Hearing Duane simply nail his dad's time honored signature licks...Yes! Great rendition!
Nice to see the beaded guitar strap, and glad he left the fringe jacket home.
Young Duane did himself and his dad proud on this one. NICE. I liked that he put his own licks in most of this, then the signature licks of his dad's, right at the end of his solo, with the guitar harmony and all. Call me a sentimental old fart, but I clouded up, a little, with it.

Yes, he is definitely getting noticeably better.
Partly cloudy is still ok, the sun will shine again my friend. Bless your heart.
Susan, especially Susan smiling the whole time.Even Derek showing some rare emotion.God Bless Southern Rock!
Maybe someone needs to tell him its ok if you smile once in awhile when you play
😊💜☮️🎼🎸🙏🌈
Man - Derek Trucks, Duane Betts and of course, Susan Tedeschi. It doesn't get any better.
Heartwarming to see the 2nd generation playing the classics
👍✌️🎸
I could not agree more ❤
Totally amazing!

Man I'm jealous I was 12 at the time, would have loved to see Duane and the Cats! But I was listening!!😊😊
Good story if true 😊
Anytime you feel low, Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and let this gem of a song wash over you with its Blue Sky cheer.
Maybe even fire up a nice blunt 😎☀️😊
This song does exactly that just was never able to put it in words, cheers for that!
This song has always put me in a good mood when life’s got me down. Or, in a good mood anytime!

@@Scottymo-pj7iw Amen to that my brother.
Absolutely love this!!!!! Close your eyes and you’re transported to the 70’s!!!
Great talent, 2nd generation honoring some of the very best that ever lived!!!
Mr Betts, this is the best solo on Blue Sky since original duo on Eat a Pitch 👏👏👏👏
I am so blessed to have grown up with this great muse . Yes totaly one my most favs
Re-watching today to remember Dickey. An absolute joy to watch Derek and Duane honor him so well with this tribute. Rest easy, Dickey.
I think it’s in his jeans.ha4realgenes
No disrespect to anyone else, but Derek Trucks has to be the best blues rock guitarist on the planet by a country mile! Wow!!
Long live the Allman Brothers Band and all their descendants who continue to carry on that torch of Southern Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent version of Blue Sky. Duane, you definitely did your dad and the man you were named after proud with your guitar playing on that song 💯🔥

Be glad he is listening to this music....you raised them right. 😊
Just wonderful. Golly, he's the spittin' image of his daddy, not only in looks but in mannerisms and playing too.
Kinda freaky 😊
Tedeschi &Trucks, true musicians keeping the music alive, keeping the family close. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all communicate through music at this point.
Duane is really starting to grow! I think coming out from Dickey's shadow has helped! Derek nd Duane ream up well!
You Might as well call this Allman Brothers and Sister and let it roll....fantastic
This is the closest thing we have to the Allman Brothers today. Even to the layout of the stage
Brothers and Sisters
Love them all. Duane doing his dad proud.

Watching Susan bopping and smiling with joy during Duane's solo warms my heart.
Incredible. Thanks for sharing.

This is fantastic. I love watching Derek groove while watching Duane absolutely kill the solo. Filled my heart with joy.
Great guitar Duane looks just like Dicky at the same age

If there was ever a big brother (DT) cheering on little brother (DB) moment….this is it. Warms the heart. Dickie would be proud.

Boy, Derek trucks is just a force of nature- yes?
Derek and Duane show a lot of respect there for the original version, yet unmistakbly make this their own as well. Love it.
Something about the way Duane plays touches my soul. It’s just so beautiful….
I had the immense fortune to see Allman brothers in summer of 71 at Fayetteville, N.C.It was June.
