    A coverstitch machine is essential for the sewist looking to achieve a professional finish. The CoverPro® 1000CPX's innovative design is based on the marriage of an industrial-style cover hem machine and a convenient home machine. The resulting union has produced a high-speed, long arm, heavy-duty cover hem machine that looks and operates like a sewing machine. With a wide trip cover hem stitch, exclusive free arm configuration, and Janome's Seam Tightening System™ (STS), the 1000CPX is the most advanced Cover Hem machine available.

    Pink Castle Fabrics is a family business started by Brenda and Jason in February of 2011. At the beginning, "warehouse" was located in the basement of our home in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Brenda had just begun quilting, and had a hard time finding fabric she liked at prices that Jason liked. Pink Castle Fabrics opened their own brick and mortar location in June of 2013.
    HUGE thank you to Pink Castle Fabrics for making these videos possible! I personally know Brenda and Jason - they are committed to offering you the best customer service no matter where you're located. I believe the diagram on the front right of machine is to select between heavyweight and lightweight fabric-not knit or woven as stated in the video. The manual directs the change in the differential feed dial to adjust for stretch factor.

    I've had a Coverstitch machine now for almost a year and I love it for finishing hems and doing decorative stitching. I made a t-shirt with lap over seams putting wooly nylon in the looper and it turned beautifully!

  • @andreastone50
    @andreastone50 7 років тому +8

    Another cool thing about that needle threader is that you can put your needle in the other end and use it to insert the needle into the machine. There is a flat side that fits the needle. That way you don't have to worry about dropping the needle down into the machine.

    Hey Jen! My daughter and I tie-dyed some T-shirts. My daughter was so excited about how they turned out, after we washed and dried them she put one on. Well, new puppy who likes to romp and play snagged the stitches on her new t-shirt. So now I’m dusting off my coverstitcher and I need the refresher🤭. I’m so glad I splurged and bought this machine! Hope you are doing well. 🧵

    Unfortunately, I get lots of skipped stitches. I have been on multiple websites to help with this problem. On my practice, it never skips, but on an actual project, I get at least 1 skipped stitch. You give a fews more ideas to try and help with this, so I will try again. This is such a nice, durable heavy machine and I want it to work. When making children's clothes, it is an asset to have.

    I got my Janome CoverPro 1000CPX last week and right out of the box I fixed the hem on 6 of my daughter's summer pajamas (I'm having terrible luck with a double needle). It has been fabulous! I also made myself a nice top and used the machine to top stitch around the collar as well as hem the body and sleeves. I love this machine so much! I also don't find locking the threads very difficult. And yes, so much easier then my serger!!I haven't tried jersey yet, frankly that material scares me! Looking forward to more videos!!!

    Thanks for your video. I am very exited about this machine. I had a Brother and it was very bad. I both it used and maybe that was the reason it didn't work write. When we got home last nigh. I try it the Janome 1000. Never made any changes on the settings and it worked just fine in all the samples. I own a Brother Serger ( I like it a lot). My sewing machine is a Destiny. I do a lot of sewing and machine embroidery. Having a machine that works properly is such a relaxation feeling.

    Janome coverstitch skips stitches. The Brother is actually better. if you need help with the vibration, put a mat under it. I use that shelf liner that's kind of spongy. it really keeps the machine in place

    What is the benefit of using the wooly thread in looper. I'm purchasing this model. I have never used a cover stitch machine.

    • @armilton01
      @armilton01 3 роки тому +1

      Let me see if I can explain it... Using wooly nylon allows more stretch in your garment as it's a textured thread. If you look closely at it, it reminds you of yarn-like fibers. It's used a lot with knit fabric (jersey fabric, poly spandex fabric, Lycra fabric, etc.). It's also used in your loppers on serger machines. It's can be challenging to thread sometimes but you'll love the results!

      It sounds like you might have some tension issues or maybe using the wrong needle size - depending on how thick your thread is. I've never sewn on a Necchi, but I would do this on scrap fabric and keep playing with different settings. It would be difficult for me to give a recommendation because it will be unique for every situation. If you're using a twin needle, I have not had great luck with those myself.

      Giuseppa Laezza You probably have sorted it out, but when going near the thicker part I raise the presser foot and put a small piece of folded fabric behind the needles, so that the presser foot is at the same level of the thicker part and I sew very slowly to avoid breaking threads or skipping stitches..

      There is a chain stitch with one needle!

      I want to make cycling caps with it and to put the body and the bill together, a straight stitch is required

      Thanks for your reply! Is a chain stitch common in cover stitch machines? Also, have you reviewed the janome cover pro 2000? Again, thanks for your video and reply :)

      I have not used the 2000, but they do all seem to have the chain stitch.

    I want a machine that does overlock for stretchy knits, but I also want a coverstitch for that pro hem look. Can I use a coverstitch machine as an overlock for seams & such?

    You didn't say what your differential was set at?

      That will be highly dependent on your fabric. I usually start off around 1.5 using a test scrap and see how that goes, and adjust accordingly.

    I'm curious about the needle info. I purchase Schmetz needles in bulk from a vendor on Amazon. I hope I can use them. 😰

      You do need to purchase these specific needles for overlock/serger machines ELx705.

      Sewing Report I purchased 100 stretch needles. I'm able to use them on my serger and my sewing machine so at least they won't go to waste. 😅

      That's good you can use them! The only place I was able to find stretch needles for ELx705 was from Wawak sewing supplies. Haven't tried them out though... still using the needles that came in the box!

      Sewing Report it looks like the needles are lasting a good while! The thread has diminished a bit!😊 I hope after all of your experimentations that you are able to keep the machine! I'm enjoying all that you are sharing here. Thank you!!!

      I purchase all my sewing supplies and needles from WAWAK. Great wholesale company and great prices. Cheaper than Amazon or other places I have looked.

    Did you really love this machine?

    • @SewingReport
      @SewingReport  5 років тому +2

      It was a loaner but I did like sewing with it and found it pretty easy to use. There are certainly other makes as well, so if you can - try them out in person since it is a pricier item

      Sewing Report thank you
      Where I live in Lansing MI, the first store had only a $1400 brother coverstitch. So I need to look around some more
