Goodness something told me to search UA-cam and I found you because I just received my machine. The manual is ok but nothing like watching it being done. Thank you for taking the time to do this tutorial, trust me it’s a huge help.
Thanks to your clear instructions I was able to thread my new Brother Coverstitch machine in no time!! Thanks so much for sharing, it was extremely helpful 💜💜
You do a fabulous job of teaching! I have a Babylock Ovation that serges and also does the coverstitch. It’s a game changer for being professional with your garment sewing. This Brother also looks easy to use. Thank you for doing all of the tutorials. I wish this had all been available 50 years ago when I started sewing. I’m self taught all the way, but you’re never too old to learn new skills and shortcuts.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I purchased a coverstitch almost a year ago and it’s still in the box. You’ve encouraged me to be brave and get the box out of the closet.
I just ordered mine!!! I am getting tired of skipped stitches on my sewing machine when it comes to hemming so I took the plunge and ordered the cover stitch! I started sewing clothes in November and now all of my family members want something. The cover stitch is going to make it a lot easier!
Thanks so much! Was trying to thread my machine for the very first time and the previous tutorial said to go right to left. Thread broke. Found yours and was able to work my machine in minutes!
Great tutorial. One thing- if you have your tweezers tool there, instead of pulling your fabric at the end to get it out, just use the tweezers to pull the threads to the front and you'll have all that length of thread when you slip your fabric out to trim it, you won't have the puckers from where the fabric has been stressed while you pulled it out from the machine.
Just purchased this machine. This is my my first coverstitch and I'm also somewhat a beginner. Thank you for making the threading video so simple and to the point. Got it up and running quickly.
Your tutorials have given me the confidence to sew with knits. I recently bought a baby lock euphoria coverstitch. I have been sewing a lot of knit this month! It's so exciting to learn something new. Keep on making your videos.
I was the same with my cover stitch and the serger and when I changed threads I made myself complete rethread them no shortcuts…but once I got the hang of it they are my new BFF!
AH Thank you so much for demonstrating the release technique! I ordered & received the cover stitch machine (just like yours) so I can learn how to operate it. I tried following the manual (what was I thinking!) I need to watch my friend Diana!! Thank you for your time in providing us these videos & loving the Ellie and Mac Patterns. I'm making items for my granddaughters & myself. I too love the Discovery tee. I've been sewing for 40+ years & never on a cover stitch, just using a twin needle on my sewing machine & my old Singer serger. Hoping the cover stitch will do the job, because changing out needles get to be too annoying.
I just ordered one. Should be here tomorrow. I can't wait. I have 2 projects that I was going to hem after work tonight, but now I will wait until tomorrow. I ordered thru your affiliated link. 😁
I’ve just started using my coverstitch/ serger. It’s a Babylock so I find the threading a little easier. I’m still a beginner sewer so I’ve got lots to learn. Thankyou.
Diana. I bought a Brother 3550 cover stitch machine and was wondering what you have your differential and stitch length set at ? I’m working on the crisscross top and I have the same Alpaca fabric you used so I thought I’d ask what you have your set at where I know where to start and then I can adjust from there. It works good on other fabrics but for some reason on this fabric it’s not wanting to work right. Also do you loosen your presser foot pressure at all? Can you show a close up picture of your stitches so we can see what there suppose to look like I’m new to cover stitching and it would really help ? Any help or advice you can give me would hell me out so much. Thank you so much. Tammy
Thank you so much!! I just got this machine for my birthday and I can’t wait to use it. I have the brother serger too so I’m really glad to see the same colored thread guides. Looks much more easy to use than I thought!!
HELLO, I WILL HAVE THIS MACHINE TOMORROW, THRU AMAZON, USING AFFIRM TO PAY FOR IT. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET IT TOMORROW, I'M SO EXCITED. I NEVER HAD A COVERSTITCH MACHINE BEFORE. I DO HAVE A BROTHER 1634D SERGER, I KNOW HOW TO USE IT. I'LL BE SEWING TOMORROW YAYYY!
Thanks for this informative video. Can you show me how to undo the needle? I just bought this type of cv and the needles broken as the fabric stuck. Thank you very much in advance.
HI Love watching your videos I've learned so much. I have the same coverstitch machine am getting skip stitches sometimes what can I do to improve so this dosen't happen and also what size needle should I use for my jersey fabrics. Thank You
I love your tutorials! Thank you so much for spending the time to do them. I've been sewing for years, but have just started making children's clothing and your tutorials are so easy to follow and now I'm going to run and thread my cover stitch machine!
I have just watch this review. I am looking to buy a coverstitch machine and trying to gauge if I will use it much. This model is no longer made, can you suggest a model similar please.
Thank you so much for sharing with us what a coverstitch can do and how to use it. I will have to save up and purchase one. What a great finish on any garment.
Diana, What kind of thread is the fuzzy thread? I have always tried to figure out how to sew a hem this way. I had no idea it was a separate machine. I will be getting one soon!!!! Thank you for sharing all of your tutorials. You are a great teacher.
I just ordered the same machine , thank you this is very helpful, what is the name of that special thread , and where can I purchase , thank you again love your videos 🌹🌸🌺💐🙋🏻
Thanks so much to show a differences in threadding ...they really look similar asside have more spools and theead differently as well have no knif i think ...i still making reasearch about them ,they are very popular in UK but are not many video to compair them . THANK YOU TO SHARE AND MAKE GREAT VIDEO . LOVE WHEN WOMANS SHARE SKILS AND PASS TRADES WHAT DIENG IN SOME PART OF THE WORLD. MY GENERATION STILL KNOW HOW SEW BUT NEXT AFTER ME HAVE NO CLUE SHAME.
This video is SO HELPFUL! Much less intimidated now lol So you don't have to finish it when you end your hem? (Like you would a serger) just cut the threads and go?
Thank you, I have this machine and I was wondering about backstitching? I want to top stitch some pockets on my cardigan but they are on the front and not tucked into a seam. How do you start and finish something like that?
Hello ! I have just the same coverstitch as you have and I have a problem, when I thread the looper, when I pull on the 11 "lever" it's not releasing anything, the needle stays blocked in position and I have to rotate the button on the side for it to move and be threaded. Would you happen what is the cause of this issue ? thanks :)
You mentioned that if we want to use two needles, that we should remove the needle on the right. Is that a must? Can we not remove the center needle in order to get a wider stitch between the two needles? Can we remove the left needle and keep the center and right ones?
Question; my interest is in men’s fashion, primarily cuffs, collars, hems and plackets. Mostly knits as I live in Dallas. Should my next purchase be a Coverstitch or a Serger? I cannot afford both at this time. Thanks!
Hi Diana.,.... I just got the same cover stitch and I am not having Any luck....... one minute it works and another time it eats my fabric. What are your settings on the Sade?
Omg i just received this cover stitch yesterday, still in the box bc I have to make an unboxing video for it, but it’s my very first so I need all the help I can get. Lol thanks for the video!
Very informative, thank you. I do have a question, what's the difference between a serger and a coverstitch,? Can't you pull the blade back and use the serger as a coverstitch?
Sew Ahem they are very different machines. Combo machines exist but the way stitches are formed are different so, no, a regular serger cannot do coverstitch.
I hope you can help me. When I am pulling my threads after finishing the hem it is REALLY hard to pull them if at all. I have watched your tutorial several times. I’m making sure needles are all the way up, presser foot is up and all tension’s released. What is the trick?
wonderful demonstration! I've been wanting one for ages! I love my brother serger, but the seams bother my sensory sensitive girls. I think it'd be a good investment when you sew lots of clothes! I think I'll get one finally soon!
Ok, you made the release of the fabric look so much easier than everyone else's videos, so I feel a little confused now with why everyone says it is hard to release the fabric. The way you did it, would you just start on your new piece of fabric or would you have to adjust the threads in any way before starting again? I so want to purchase this machine but am scared that it is going to be hard to release the fabric.
I am so thankful for your coverstitch overview! I bought one just like yours and was hoping you would make a how to video! Perfect timing! Great video! I bought Brothers 2340CV because my Huskylock s21 doesn't give me the results on DBP fabric that I see your CS gives. Thanks again! Sewing in Upland
I saw you in a spanish video, me puede decir que tipo de agujas le puedo poner a la dragonfly DF 858? Muchas gracias por compartir y dedicar tiempo a enseñarnos
I am new to sewing knits so i look forwars to see how you cut materials and make them perfectly strait or do not swing one way after wash .what are rules for knits or legins making for kids and adults .
Awesome demo! I really grasped each step individually...I was trying to decide if I wanted to go with the brother 1034d or the coverstitch 2340cv...it seems that the coverstitch is a lot easier to tread than the 1034d...umm
Hi I have both.....they do different things. The serger has a knife and will finish off raw edges. The coverstitch machine is for hemming mainly. I would own the serger before coverstitch.
I got a cover stitch that I was lucky enough to score for $200! It was barely used. Same with the Brother 1034 serger. I got it for free since there were timing issues but, I fixed it!
Goodness something told me to search UA-cam and I found you because I just received my machine. The manual is ok but nothing like watching it being done. Thank you for taking the time to do this tutorial, trust me it’s a huge help.

I just received my brother coverstitch machine today and threaded it with you! Thanks now I can continue on with my FUN!
Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I purchased a coverstitch almost a year ago and it’s still in the box. You’ve encouraged me to be brave and get the box out of the closet.
Get it out and play with it!!! I promise it won’t bite 😉

Thank you for showing when you have the completed skirt and all those threads make sense.
great video. thanks. I've bought a old coverstitch sewing machine and I didn't knew it works. great review. subscribed.

2 questions

2: what thread do I use cotton or polyester
I have just found your channel. Love it! Thank you for clear instructions.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just bought this machine and your directions are just what I needed! Much appreciated. :)

very informative, can a cover stich be done removing the blade? or is the cover stitch a feature of the machine.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a wonderful tutorial, very well explained!
Thank you so much!! I just got this machine for my birthday and I can’t wait to use it. I have the brother serger too so I’m really glad to see the same colored thread guides. Looks much more easy to use than I thought!!

Thank you for this video!! My husband just surprised me with mine a couple days ago and this video helped a lot!!
Thank you so much for sharing with us what a coverstitch can do and how to use it. I will have to save up and purchase one. What a great finish on any garment.

Thanks! I use maxi lock stretch for the fuzzy thread ❤️
I just ordered the same machine , thank you this is very helpful, what is the name of that special thread , and where can I purchase , thank you again love your videos 🌹🌸🌺💐🙋🏻
Does the clear presser foot come with the Brother 2340CV? I'm going back and forth between this machine and the Bernette B42. Thanks for any help!

Glad I could help! Hope you like it!
Thanks. Which needle do you measure from to the line?
Thanks, you made it easy to understand. I will be buying this machine
Have fun! you will love it!!
Hi Diana. How do you hem sleeve on coverstitch when it doesn’t have free arm? Gracias!
This video is SO HELPFUL! Much less intimidated now lol
So you don't have to finish it when you end your hem? (Like you would a serger) just cut the threads and go?
thanks for showing me how to cut the threads at the end of the seam, I've been having trouble with that. Thanks a lot
Love this tutorial I have just ordered myself a cover stitch and can’t wait for it to be delivered
I just took my new coverstich out of the box. I LOVE it!!! Thank you for all the details that I needed
I hope you love it! Happy sewing 🧵
Thank you, I have this machine and I was wondering about backstitching? I want to top stitch some pockets on my cardigan but they are on the front and not tucked into a seam. How do you start and finish something like that?
I have the same question? How to lock the ends to prevent it from coming undone?
I love your videos!! I’m so excited to finally get my coverstitch! I ordered the same as yours and it should be here today!
I hope you LOVE it!!! It sure makes thing much easier!
Hello ! I have just the same coverstitch as you have and I have a problem, when I thread the looper, when I pull on the 11 "lever" it's not releasing anything, the needle stays blocked in position and I have to rotate the button on the side for it to move and be threaded. Would you happen what is the cause of this issue ? thanks :)
sorry if this was asked already but please clarify, so there is no need to back stitch? and the thread stays secure and won't unravel?
You mentioned that if we want to use two needles, that we should remove the needle on the right. Is that a must? Can we not remove the center needle in order to get a wider stitch between the two needles? Can we remove the left needle and keep the center and right ones?
Great tutorial! I just bought this machine and the instructions were very clear and helpful. Thanks!
This is an easy to follow tutorial. Thanks
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!
OMG I just bought one and I'm so scared of it! I'm so glad you did this tutorial, so helpful!
Question; my interest is in men’s fashion, primarily cuffs, collars, hems and plackets. Mostly knits as I live in Dallas. Should my next purchase be a Coverstitch or a Serger? I cannot afford both at this time. Thanks!
I would suggest a serger first because it’s great for knit fabric sewing and garment construction in general.
This is great.. Thanks Diana.. Tell me, do you change the needles to ball point on your cover stitch when working with knits?
Love all your videos. I just ordered a cover stitch. Where do you get the woolly nylon . Or what brand I’m having a hard time finding it
I love to order from wawak.com ❤️
This was a great video...I may finally put some use to my cover stitch today
You can do it! I hope you love it!
Thank you for an awesome video!!! I watched a couple others but they didn’t help much. You’re a great teacher 🤗
Jorden Wolfe Thank you so much for watching! 😍 I am so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
Awesome tutorial thanks for taking time and showing us how to maintain our serger.
Hi Diana.,.... I just got the same cover stitch and I am not having Any luck....... one minute it works and another time it eats my fabric. What are your settings on the Sade?
oh no, Im sorry, ok, so the top one (looks like a rainbow) is in between the .7 and 1.0 and the circle on is at number 2. I hope this helps!
Omg i just received this cover stitch yesterday, still in the box bc I have to make an unboxing video for it, but it’s my very first so I need all the help I can get. Lol thanks for the video!
You're so welcome! I hope you love it!!
I have the cover stitch, I love it so far, I have only used twice going to need more practice. Thanks for the video.
I just ordered this same machine and can’t wait to get it! Thanks for this video.
Hope you enjoy it!
Do you use this machine to attach elastic waistband?
Does it do like a regular serger and trim and sew?
Thanks for this video! Question: Why don't you tie off the ends? Won't the stitching come loose and eventually out after washing?
Thank you so much for this! You are a life saver❤
I loved this! I always struggle releasing the threads at this end and this is very helpful. Thank you.
My serger won't run without the blade in place to slice the fabric.
@@Branalyn TY :)
I hope you can help me. When I am pulling my threads after finishing the hem it is REALLY hard to pull them if at all. I have watched your tutorial several times. I’m making sure needles are all the way up, presser foot is up and all tension’s released. What is the trick?
Yay! I found your coverstitch video!!
Hope you like it!
You explained and demonstrated how to get started so well! Thank you!
You’re welcome!! ❤️
Thanks for this! I’m trying to decide about purchasing a coverstitch machine.
wonderful demonstration! I've been wanting one for ages! I love my brother serger, but the seams bother my sensory sensitive girls. I think it'd be a good investment when you sew lots of clothes! I think I'll get one finally soon!

can that machine cut and work like a regular over lock machine?
Great video! How did you get hem to lay so flat?
I bought this exact machine 2 years ago and am so intimidated by it I have only used it twice.
wow i like how you do your fabric release. love to try it
I'm glad you like it
Can I use an elastic attachment at the same time?
I am so thankful for your coverstitch overview! I bought one just like yours and was hoping you would make a how to video! Perfect timing! Great video! I bought Brothers 2340CV because my Huskylock s21 doesn't give me the results on DBP fabric that I see your CS gives. Thanks again! Sewing in Upland
You are such a great explainer! This was exactly what I needed! Thank you!!!
so glad it was helpful!
Woo hoo! Thank you so much Diana!
Thank you for doing these machine videos. Love them!!
that was great .... a coverstittch machine is on my wishlist to get .... it gives a more polished finish
Thank you so much for this video!!! It was really easy to follow.
You are so welcome!
Does this coverstitch use the same type of needle as the brother serger?
I saw you in a spanish video, me puede decir que tipo de agujas le puedo poner a la dragonfly DF 858? Muchas gracias por compartir y dedicar tiempo a enseñarnos
I am new to sewing knits so i look forwars to see how you cut materials and make them perfectly strait or do not swing one way after wash .what are rules for knits or legins making for kids and adults .

I love mine! It is so fun to make professional looking garments.
Fantastic video. It helped me a lot.
Glad it helped!
Is it best to have 2 seperate machines or an all in one machine? Thank you for doing these videos.
Thank you for the tutorial. You made it look very doable!!
You’re welcome 😊
