  • In this video I replace and upgrade the die down straps on my rooftop tent. The original straps were wearing out to the point that they could actually break.
The straps are only to ensure that the cover for the tent doesn't lift off when travelling at higher speeds or windy conditions, they are not structural so they don't need to have a certain weight rating.
The straps I used are from a kit that came with the kayak we recently purchased. I have a few sets of the same straps so I didn't mind cutting them to length.
The old straps use a double d-ring to secure the cover which I found to be a pain in the butt at times. The cam buckle type is quicker to use and is as equally secure.
This project didn't cost me any money and was quite easy to replace. This type of cam buckle can be used for variety of die down purposes.
I hope this might help you with a similar set up.
    Thanks for watching.
