- Jackson was a monster of a drummer and although the Decoding Society got some attention in the 80s, he currently seems to fly under the radar. This band is where Vernon Reid spent his time before Living Colour, and his playing was a lot wilder in this harmolodic setting. For a time in the 80s this was one of my favorite bands. This configuration of the band included two guitars and two basses. I also saw and recorded the late show this night but I don't intend to upload it unless this upload gets some positive feedback. I don't know the names of half the tunes and don't have the time to try to run them down.
Ronald Shannon Jackson - drums and flute
Henry Scott - trumpet
Eric Person - alto and soprano saxophones
Vernon Reid - guitar
Cary Denegris - guitar
Melvin Gibbs - bass
Reggie Washington - bass
00:00 track 1
08:12 track 2
18:37 Erri Moments

37:04 Sacred Language
44:12 drum solo

Recorded on a Sony Pro Walkman D6c with a Sony ECM-102 stereo microphone. Uploaded solely for educational purposes and historical interest. Enjoy.
Reid has returned to this style of play over and over again, and I think it's great.
You have my full and unencumbered positive feedback!
So good THANKS ○for the upload....its awesome..
I met Vernon a couple of times. He is a wonderfully genuine person . Ronald was a fellow Nichiren Buddhist who I happened to help him set up his drum kit ( @Hunter College)probably about 1987. ALSO :the double guitar and bass set-up is an adaptation of Ornette Coleman's Prime Time lineup during the same time as this
You're welcome!
