      I used to use the 6D! First pro camera. I think this would be a MASSIVE upgrade, especially in AF. Video files not in c log should be easy to work with, also aren’t you used to shooting in 1080 on the 6D anyway? Battery life is pretty good, obviously might be a little less based on everything going on in this camera. From what I understand, you can record now over an hour in 4k24 and a little over 30 min in 4k60. I’d be shooting interviews in 1080 24 or 4k24 maybe

    For me, the OVF provides a feeling and experience that an EVF can't. Couple that with the fact that battery life is notably worse on mirrorless. Size, to me, also isn't of any importance but I tend to lean towards larger and heavier bodies.
    As a stills-only shooter, mirrorless doesn't work for me and I still recommend DSLRs for those who are primarily interested in photography.

    • @AndreiRestrepo
      @AndreiRestrepo  3 роки тому +1

      When I started and only did stills, I felt the same way! Bigger body and wasn’t a fan of mirrorless. I think it’s so simply because I do a lot of video work and everything they offer. Wonder if I’ll like the EVF long term though. Thanks for watching!

      @@AndreiRestrepo If I were primarily into video work, I'd honestly prefer a mirrorless body with an EVF as it would heavily improve my workflow. If you're doing a lot of video work now, then I believe a mirrorless body is the better choice for you.
      For stills, however, the OVF lets you connect with the scene/subject more, in my opinion. It feels natural and refreshing and the mirror also sounds nice too.
      All in all, it's down to personal preference.

    Traded in my 5DS/R for a R6. No regrets. But will get the high MPIX R when its comes out. Super AF, Eye AF, no need to microadjust lenses, rapid fire, in-body IS, flip screen etc: there's a long list of advantages. I currently have a 5D Mark IV. I am looking at the R6 or possibly the much more expensive R5. Of course price is a concern, but also the relatively low MP of the R6 (20) is 10MP less than my 5D4, and that has be concerned. For most shooting situations this would not be an issue, but for things like shooting wildlife and birds in flight (about 25% of what I shoot), the limits on resolution when cropping might be a concern. I think I am going to rent an R6 for a few days and do some stress tests with subjects the would need cropping and try to see how much of an issue this cropping limitation might be. If I find I'm happy with the results with a reasonable amount of cropping I will probably go for the R6. If I'm really unhappy with the limited on cropping and overall resolution, then I may have to suck it up and get the R5. I toyed with the idea of keeping the 5D4 and getting an R7, but the dense pixels on that camera, from what I've seen in reviews, introduces some significant hits with low-light performance and high ISO performance, so I think I'm probably not going that route.

    I just bought a 5D Mark IV . Idk I have big hands the mirrorless wasn't doing it for me, also the EVF made my brain hurt lmao, and the battery life doodoo, it has a bunch of advantages dont get me wrong, but tbh if we're still comparing a dslr to a mirrorless that has to hold weight. Someone in the comments said they're waiting for Canon to have Mirrorless down packed to the T, and thats what ill do as well, im in no rush and this 5D Mark IV is a beast, workhorse for many years to come . Some people still shoot film ! It's what ever floats your boat been shooting for a while and the 5D has always been on my list to get and have in my collection regardless, so I'll keep this and wait 2, 3 Years for a finessed mirrorless that I feel good with. 🤞🏽🙏🏼 blessssssss

    I made the switch to the r5 and I am very happy about that. Focus is better than ever and my EF lenses work better than ever. However, I will not be dumping all of my EF glass, namely the really expensive telephoto L glass with f4 aperture. The are very sharp, fast to focus, and render beautiful images. Selling them and rebuying RF versions would be very expensive and would offer little benefit to me. However, some lens will be replaced as they offer tangible benefits that i benefit from. But my main message is that people don’t need to feel as if they must replace all of their EF glass - those adapters work perfectly and make EF glass better than on a dslr (due to better focusing). Go on a case-by-case basis and remember that sharpness is NOT the only factor that makes a lens a great lens and most real people don’t even think about sharpness.

    I actually have my Dad's 5div for an upcoming wedding back-up camera, and my main camera is the r6. (The R6 is bloody unreal) I'm watching this meditating on how to proceed to have 2 bodies. I may end up buying another mirrorless body and not even borrowing the 5div just for the workflow and shooting experience.
    I feel like running one dslr and one mirrorless presents workflow issues while shooting, but maybe that's just me and I need to relax.

Sure it would be nice to have double the MP’s for those situations to crop in if needed and just have that high res “look” but it’s not a big deal for my workflow. But if I didn't get a good used deal on it, I probably would have gotten the R6 instead. As for the megapixel count, I don't feel there is a huge need for it.
      The biggest improvement over the R besides the IBIS for stills is the AF system and the way you can program multiple buttons for different AF modes, so you have those at your disposal at any time, no need to fiddle with single-point AF versus face-tracking or single-AF versus servo AF anymore you have an AF point selected but you can tell the camera to focus quickly on another object instead, I think it isn't as easy in other mirrorless cameras.

Mainly used for video and some photography. Now I’m really , really REALLY needing some advice … deciding whether to go for canon 90d, canon mark 5d iv, or canon R7 . The R7 looks attractive to me because of : the autofocus capabilities and the newer technology that come with mirrorless , I’m scared because of not knowing how to use it compared to my traditional camera , I’m embarrassed to say I have only ever used auto on my camera but I’m going to learn how to use manual. Also slightly worried about the ‘overheating’ rumours/problems with mirrorless, but apparently shouldn’t be an issue if I don’t intend to do shoot 30min + .. I’m interested in the canon mark iv because it seemed EVERYONE thinks it’s a beast and amazing but then after research I saw it’s better primarily for photography AND it doesn’t have a flip out screen (a feature I currently have and love) and then obviously the 90d …. I think is a really really good option as it’s a step up (several steps) to what I have and probably the most familiar one I’d be used to .. just scared of thinking the R7 is more superior I think is my problem… would really appreciate your thoughts.

I used to work as a photoreporter and a portrait photographer, had mainly Canon cameras like film, then 10d, 30d, 60d, 50d & now 70d :). Recently I tried both Canon 50d and later Sony ZV1 and both even if had some good features did not satisfy the quality & ease of operation. That is on sony the photo quality was way too low (say if to use it for vlog, stock photos, SM shots and traveling), in some cases phone did a much better job especially in low light conditions. Another drawback was lack of touch screen. Canon 50d which I tested in a trip was a bit tricky in terms of controls. Both cameras had controls deep in the menu.

      @@AndreiRestrepo thanks for responding! I know I need to improve when it comes to editing the photos afterwards but I take it that also just takes getting the hang of what photos should look like? I'm kind of in the point where I just don't know how much is too much ya know?

      Ok totally know what you mean! I watched countless amounts of tutorials and learned from watching other photographers to develop my own style and how I want me images to look, definitely takes time! I was guilty of over editing my images sooo much in the beginning haha. I think it’s something everyone goes through. Always try to get the best image in camera with the most accurate settings to do less in editing!

    What if I can't afford mirrorless simply because of the cost of the lenses? 🤔

      I don’t have any RF lenses, I use all EF + the adapter and works perfect! Thanks for watching!

    One camera?

    • @AndreiRestrepo
      @AndreiRestrepo  3 роки тому +1

      Hey! Yeah, I’ve always had just one camera that can do everything I need it to do. 5d4 was that camera up until I started doing a lot of video work as well! I think the R6 will be my next investment for a nice hybrid camera. Then if my video work continues to grow, I’ll invest in a video first camera, like a cinema camera. Thanks for watching!

      Canon 5d Mark IV! Now use the R6! Thanks for watching!

      Nice, I appreciate it! you can still definitely get good video out of it in 1080 and make it look nicer in color grading for sure.

      Do you do more photo or video? Honestly looking great! They’ve definitely upgraded their color science and everything looks natural and nice. Haven’t edited footage shot on it though, been using it for gigs for the last few days!

    R6 build quality plastic crap cheapo. Good Luck if you drop it accidently. R6 EVF lags sucks. Not fan of EVF! All 5D series images and color skin tones still look Amazing espiecally 5DMK1 and 2 they have Filmic Look with excellent Build Quality Alloy Magnesium.

      Now I have the R6ii and R5C, personally love the mirrorless line more than DSLR since I do more video now. I agree, haven't seen skin tones/colors come out as good as they did on the 5D4 for photos, but they come out even better for video on the mirrorless series. Thanks for watching!
