  • Here is a more detailed explanation of what I did with a difficult Doberman puppy on our first lesson. Extremely hard-headed, insecure, and unmotivated by everything normally used in training I had to step back and simplify things as much as possible.

Post whatever you want Larry. You are the expert, I'm not. I glean information from every video.

cypherknot Yep, I take in whatever I can from Larry. Even have a Larry notebook for when I am struggling with something to reference, very helpful.

Love the stop and start with my 4 month rottweiler, it keeps her thinking about me and what I'm going to do , instead of where she wants to go. A few random flank pats as reward and she's coming on great .

Great video! The idea that the leash tells the dog want we want (I tell my clients it is a puppy cell phone) and the use of touch(bonding) is great to pass on to owners. So many owners think talking to the dog gets the behaviors desired. It has been my experience that most owners talk to much and use touch at inappropriate times.

I notice you often saying that what you are saying isn't exciting or interesting...I beg to differ. Every single video you post is fascinating. You have an inate understandin of a dogs mind. You also have a gift for translating dog thought into human comprehension. THANK YOU!!!!!

HI Larry. Really enjoy your videos here (from the UK)! Have been watching as many as I can! We are picking up our 12 week old Cocker Spaniel (Max) this Sunday, and I will be incorporating some of your methods to train. Keep up the great work!

Love this Larry. I am experiencing what you mentioned at the end of the video. The last month I have changed to other methods, while still using the tools and I love our relationship and training much better. Heck even dogs can have bad days, they aren't robots and we shouldn't force them too much. Now they still need to be held accountable, but within in a fair reason. If you even allow a shadow program, I am flying in from Canada!!

Thank you for this Larry. I love these basic videos of you talking in the car. We’re hopefully going to be getting a new puppy in a few weeks and after watching hundreds of your videos over and over I feel like we’re going to be able to hit the ground running.

I'm new to owning a dog (only had dogs as a kid, never as an adult), so I am a complete amateur. We just got our puppy 1 week ago. The most basic command videos help so much, so thank you for posting your part 1 to this video! Also, dumb question, but I don't understand what the place command is used for. Is this more for hunting dogs? My dad has a hunting dog, is the soft bite and hard bite also only something for hunting dogs? My dog won't be used for hunting, at least I don't think. Thanks!

On the "right leg swing" with the dog in heel position, do I swing my right leg in front of the dog (to the left) or away from the dog to the right?

Thanks l love your video's. I have a gsd and i got her at 3 1/2 momths. She was a puppy for 1 month because Nyla was my first dog ever. I started Nyla in obedience after that because my neighbours said that she was aggressive. I toke her to the vet and they all said that she was scared. Well the obedience classes are wonderful and she is doing great now when she is with me all day. But when my husband or kids come home Nyla is a different dog. She don't listen or nothing. Anyways my mom is coming over here to France to visit us and is bringing a Mini Educator with her. They are 450 over here compared to 179 in the states. I have watched all of your video's on this and am eager to start her proper training. How do I ask you questions personally?
Thank you Stephanie RUTY. American living in France.
    Peace

Thanks for this video and lecture. Which of your videos demonstrate the following techniques: straight line leash pressure; massage and touch; and right leg swing?

  • @LauraHopkinsCDL

Larry I really think these very basic videos are very important to dog owners :) Touch is key . Strange you did a Doberman video . Me and my Collie got charged yesterday and it blocked my dog from getting back to me. So I headed out to rescue my dog but she was brilliant. She's a very balanced, confident girl and She kinda blew the young Dobi off . She stood proud and her body language was a joy to see. Oh the Dobi was on a flexi lead and the dog pulled it out of the owners hand . Worrying .as the owner was a full grown man. I did get an apology, but if not for my Dogs great nature it could've been a fight.

I did a search on the right leg swing. Unfortunately only thing that came up was golf. Could you please show what is a right leg swing, regarding dog training.

He has a video showing it. I believe it's called "How to teach a dog to stop pulling." It also has a doberman in it.

People actually care if your hat is on one side of your head or the other?! They are watching the wrong videos if they give a rat's ass about that! You are a wealth of information and I don't care if you wear your hat on your head or anywhere else that you want to! That is up to you! People are just weird and stupid!

I honestly have a hard time believing the dog is "fixed" to walk nicely. I have done what you said with my doberman since she was a puppy at about the same age you as this one. Initially the right leg swing and the turnarounds works, but if you are getting out of the car at the beach and you want to walk nicely to the beach - good luck with that. I think the technique works over time, but I highly doubt it is "fixed" in this doberman.

      @straitjacket231 6 років тому +4

There is no fix in dog training lol You might have a dog that walks nicely around the neighborhood, but you take them out at the beach and they go apeshit. It just shows you need to practice in many areas.

Joseph Ely there will always be those that no one knows that will use others for attention. I don’t acknowledge it. That’s what they want so they can get some views

No doubt. This guy keeps coming up on my suggested because he is calling a bunch of the guys I watch hacky trainers and it's really annoying. Keep doing what you are doing man. I love your videos, just like thousands of other people!
