  • This is a short video I recorded from behind the mixing desk while engineering on the 31st of Jan this year at the Griffin Hotel in Earlestown for Paul Kappa's well-known 3 piece band 'AKB' or Amazing Kappa Band.
The in-house PA system was used for this video and the audio is captured from my phones built-in mic which isn't great and heavily compresses the audio.
The venue at this time was fitted with a mix of older Fender, HK Audio & McGregor branded speakers. There are also some Peavey HiSys wedge monitors and an active RCF ART200A 12" monitor.
The speakers were powered by McGregor, StudioMaster and AudioHead branded power amplifiers.
The in-house processing units consist of all analogue outboard. Behringer monitor EQs and active crossover, a DBX dual 31-band EQ for FOH, and a selection of my own compressor / limiter / gate and FX units including DBX 266XL, Alesis 3630, Behringer MDX4600 and a Lexicon MX300 which I recently repaired that belongs to a friend.
The mixing console is an Allen & Heath MixWizard WZ3 16:2 desk that is a nice quality console I do quite enjoy mixing on, just a shame it doesn't have more stereo returns.
I provided most other items including instrument microphones, cables, DI boxes, etc..
