Sorry guys, but having bought the wife a GV60 which happens to be identical to yours I would never trade it for a Tesla. Follow your heart not the herd
They followed their brains. Software is king, and a good EV is nothing without a good ecosystem to support it, something Tesla has nailed down pat. Not that the GV60 is bad if the range is acceptable for the need. I'd take it over a Bolt, but maybe not a Mach-e, even if it's more "luxurious" so to speak. The Model Y is the better road tripper, that's not really a revelation. Blame that on Electrify America and gang.
Hi out of spec mom and dad. Watched many of your videos and out of spec motoring and back in 2020 I decided to try the ev and my first purchase was a new 2020 Chevy bolt and have been very happy with it. I drive 500 miles a week and charge every night at home and it works well for me. However road tripping I have done and the public charging makes me nervous. So by watching your videos on the Tesla I decided to buy one in March of this year. I got a 2023 standard range blue with black interior lfp . Wanted to see all the hype about Tesla and so far what an amazing vehicle. Road-tripping is really easy with Tesla superchargers. So thank you for all you do and all your awesome videos. Love you Kathy and Dave.
No, they won't get the trade in value on the Y like they got for their GV60. They're gonna have to live with these choices for the rest of this year, at least.
So sad, but I'm also happy for you both. I put myself on a wait-list and finally purchased my GV60 based on your videos. I agree it's over engineered... And life finally got better once I found a large Genesis Dealership who knew what they were doing with the GV60. But I love my GV60. No regrets at all.
Kathy got jokes. 😂 Wish the GV60 would've stayed longer so we have a bit of everything. Just too bad the charging network isn't there yet so everyone wants a Telsa.
Yes, but charging on the Supercharger network is as exiting as filling up a gas tank. Boring! Who's going to watch that? I know I'm not. Since they have a UA-cam channel they have to think of the video opportunities. There are a million Tesla UA-cam channel and videos by now. The key is to stand out and bring different EVs and all they can, or cnnnot, do to the watcher.
The Bailey story is great. Gv60 is an amazing car but I get the financial aspects of the trade in value. That and the bonus of the charging infrastructure. Congrats!
I just bought Genesis GV60 advanced model. I had to lots of reserch comparing with Y before making the decision. Lots of my friends have Y, so i could have detailed insights. The esthetics of inside and outside, the Genesis is the clear winner. No argue about this. I just fell in love at first sight. Y interior with the wood trim was feel like my grandmother's car. My friends hated that Y doesn't support carplay and navigation system is so bad she used her phone for navigation. Big downer for me. Also, the big touchscreen system on Y is so uncomfortable for me to useduring driving reaching out. I like the nob on Genesis that make me control everything with my fingers without reaching my right arm all the time. The glass roof on Y makes inside car too bright and sunny in this sunny Ca. I like the Genesis has roof cover and backseat window cover. The Y reqires charging from Sf to carmel round trip anyway so range diffrence won't be matter IMHO. The last, I just not like the idea driving same car that so many people diving. I like my car stands out on the road😊
I currently have a preorder on a GV60, and I cross-shopped it with the Model Y. I chose the GV60 for much the same reasons you did. The glass roof was also a showstopper for my wife as we have small children that she doesn't want exposed to so much sun. We are a two car family and currently use a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV for long roadtrips, so I don't anticipate needing to DC fast charge the GV60 much if at all. The current charging network where we live is definitely not robust enough for us to feel comfortable using any non-Tesla EV for road trips. There's basically only one charging option on our most common road trip route with only two 50W chargers available, so we can't even take advantage of the 350W quick charging. I am hoping that in the next few years the Tesla Supercharger network will get opened up to other EVs, and that Hyundai/Genesis will do what Ford and GM have done and adopt the Tesla charging standard, and make an adaptor available. Otherwise the Model Y is the more practical family road trip car with more interior space and cargo capacity and the reliable supercharger network. Perhaps when we finally commit to being a full EV household we might opt to replace the Outlander PHEV with a Model Y or other Tesla.
I never knew this car existed until 2 days ago and have been curious since. I saw it at my company’s parking lot and I did a double take. I really think it looks stunning. Will Kathy’s new Model Y rear drive have a 4680 battery pack? I am looking forward to the delivery. I know you love the Lucid GT but if you were to sell it, you could use the “Y” as a better road tripper which I am sure has gone into your thinking. That way you would have the great Tesla Supercharger network available to you vs. chaos.
I have to say we absolutely love the Y long range. However the mileage is still only 324, and in reality you will be lucky to get 300 miles in moderate temps, in cold even less. They do charge very fast for trips but to 100% 40-50 min. The dual motor is an absolute pleasure to drive.
I can give you the #1 reason why getting a Tesla is the best choice for you and your family. The safety system Tesla has on their vehicles is light years ahead of any other vehicles on the road and keeps getting better with each update. I am at a point right now, that I feel un safe getting in other people's vehicles. Once you know what Tesla does to be considered the #1 safest vehicle on the Planet, it is hard to justify buying any other vehicle!
Adding leather seats to the gv70 raises the price to 74k. Base model y is 48k less the tax credit. Adding any dealer market markup one could potential purchase a base model y and a model 3 for the same price as a gv70. Both will have more range than the gv70. His and her road trips in two cars for the price of one.
That makes sense for the upper limit for income ($300k) since someone don't know if he/she over the limit before 2023 ends. E.g. for those who are under the limit in 2022 and over in 2023, still can file the fed credit in 2024.
The "crystal ball" is something that doesn't need to exist at all. You shouldn't have to worry about forgetting to turn it off in the first place. It should turn itself off like Tesla does 🐍😎
Just curious, not criticizing, did you not know how bad EA chargers were before you bought or was how to charge it not considered much before you purchased? Genuinely seeking your feedback. It wasn’t that bad. Maybe 1 out of 10 lead to bad experience. Worse than Tesla, but it does charge faster normally. V2L is the reason I am still keeping for emergency.

Dave, how do you like the suspension and ride quality on the model y? Looking for an ev for my mom and considering the y because it’s higher off the ground and easy to get in and out and using the chargers wouldn’t take as much hand strength as I need with CCS chargers. But she test drove a 3 and said it was too rough.
See, what I don't quite understand is if Kathy loved the Macan (and by extension, Porsches), why downgrade to a Tesla when you could have instead been driving a Taycan? Dave gets the Lucid, while Kathy slums along in a common Tesla complete with vinyl seats. Doesn't seem fair. I'm looking forward to the "Why we are selling our Model Y and buying a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo" video.
My only issue with Lucid is the economics of that company are scary. They have middle east money back them, but even that must have a limit. Tesla is great, but they need some updating. I wish they would do a normal'ish pickup truck about the size of a Ranger or Tacoma and an offroad'ish version of the Model Y (with some ground clearance). Yes range will get hit, but everything is a trade off. The model 3 is getting an update. Sad to see the LFP go--i'm keeping mine forever.
huge downgrade IMO. Gues-o-meter is pretty useless, I would never based range based on that. You have are sacrificing quality, comfort, luxury, etc for... extra 40 mile of range? Ok. This is like going from Mercedes to a Corolla. 😂
Hi Dave, I love your videos, but do your audience a favour and invest in 2 Rode bluetooth mics when you do your roadtrips with Kathy. Thanks a lot from Germany.
Sorry about my comment regarding the Kool aid. I remember the salesman scrolling through the tile on the display. It was just because I am so close to purchasing a GV60. I'm supposed to go to the dealership on Monday.
I find it interesting that Tesla is such a big deal to so many people. Frankly, I think they're boring and far too many on the road. I'm going with the GV60
I'll save everyone time. They have money to burn, she doesn't like buttons in her car, he will be selling the model 3 he just got later this summer. This channel is whats wrong with the waste in this country where one man will go through 7 cars in 2 years.
Most of us retired individuals have no tax liability so the tax rebate means nothing to us. It actually only helps those who do not really need a rebate!
Like a soap opera I think you should’ve named your channel “As The Wheel Turns.” From a Y to a GV60 via a Macan to a Y. Oh Mrs. Conner, I’m sorry Dave bought that IONIQ 5 so early. Dave they ironed out all those little gremlins that plagued you. My 2023 Gravity Gold Matte looks so much better than the dark gray matte you had. Great point about the home charging setup.💯 If you can’t do that, then just go ahead and get the new Macan hybrid that your son reviewed. 🎯 Wish you well on your GV60 sale. 20:11
I’m unclear why Kathy is trading the GV60 after only 10 months use for a mY. She had a mY before and got rid of it for reasons that won’t change by buying a new one. The mY doesn’t have massaging seats, the beautiful crystal ball, dual displays, bird’s eye view for parking, and ample buttons for controls. She can use the Lucid for long road trips. Daily charging can’t be an issue because undoubtedly Dave has one/two home chargers. I predict she will regret this decision, unless there’s a major flaw in the GV60.
It's bc of the better charging network and the fact that everything just works so seamlessly. This speaks volumes on the difference between legacy automotive (can offer more traditionally "premium" interiors) and the importance of EV software/UX. Despite these "shortcomings" from Tesla, she wants to jump back.
I am not sure how long you kept the GV60 for or where you live but I have owned the GV60 now for 3 months. I agree with your review in terms of the amenities and options on this car. It is really an amazing car. Not sure I agree about how hard it is to manage finding things with the buttons. Did you know, there is Voice Command too. Touch Screen and Buttons. Now I disagree when you say there is absolutely nothing wrong with this car. I live in the valley of the Sun, phoenix Arizona. After one month, my car stopped charing randomly and I would have to keep turning the charge back on every 20 to 30 minutes. I took it to Hyundai because there is no standalone Genesis dealership here. (Reason #1 I why I would not buy this car again). They told me there is a known issue that the battery gets hot in the warmer states. With that being said, they said they had a software upgrade which I had to do to get my car to charge again. I asked them what the update does and I was told when the battery gets to hot instead of turning off, it now reduces the charge. So now my 6.5 hours of charge time that it was taking me, is now taking 11 hours. The fan blows at high speeds when I am charging to try and cool of the battery and it sounds like an airplane is my garage. Genesis Care told me this Band Aid was a fix and that they would not buy the car back. There is now a class action law suit against Hyundai/Genesis due to this faulty battery. Not sure how the battery does in the cold but it does not function properly in the heat. (Reason 2 I would not buy this car again. Other than that which is pretty damn important, the only other faults are the terrible phone charge that makes my phone to hot and the range (which I knew I was getting, when I bought this). At 90% charge I barely have 200 miles. And with the amazing speed of this car not including the boost. the battery runs out very quickly. Genesis/Hyundai customer support and service is a joke. This may drive like a high end car but it is not a high end car company when you have to service at a Hyundai dealership. Great car if they ever get standalone Genesis dealerships and fix there battery issues. Will be selling and looking elsewhere which is too bad. I thought everything else about the car blew the Tesla away!!!!!!
Some people spend money on clothes. Some people spend money on guns. Some people spend money on home theater. Honestly when you do the math they're still not really spending as much as some people spend on subwoofers for their home theater. To each their own.
@@leanderzulu3494 To each their own is true. But I think it's a stretch to say people spend more on subs 😂. They've got over 200K in vehicles. The lucid, model 3, and GV 60... soon to be model y. And the model y will probably be gone in 6 months.

@Leander Zulu Just go all in, and do a pair of captivator 6000s, and be future proofed. And 25k over 10 years, isn't bad at all, compared to the money Dave and his son are bleeding on cars. But to be clear.... it truly is "to each his own".

Only 7500 out 40,000 chargers will be Magic Dock. They did it to get government money not to solve the "premium" CCS car charging experience. Also because Tesla are 400V and GV60 is 800V the 800V cars will only charge between 50kW (Lucid) to 150ish kW (Hyundai/Kia/Genesis) due to hardware limitations on the cars
on 10 are open. and nothing since. it seems they are doing the bare minimum to access money. i doubt there will ever be more than 100 at this pace....its a worthless roll out.
@@leanderzulu3494 And, a large portion of those 7500 charge points will NOT be Superchargers. Another point, charging from a 400v charger, the EGMP cars are limited to 100KW. Pretty slow by todays standards. FWIW, most the Taycan can only charge at 50KW, or optionally 100 KW, which probably few owners opted for. I had an Ioniq 5, public charging was the LEAST of my frustrations.
@@laloajuria4678 why would Tesla solve CCS charging? The other manufacturers could've used the NACS standard but chose to use that horribly designed CCS plug instead. Everything else is just relegated to grocery getting status
Kathy is going to regret it or have already. Creature comfort is huge. We live inside the car most of the time. And it is like sitting in a bare cubical to a hotel lounge.

I find it interesting that Tesla is such a big deal to so many people. Frankly, I think they're boring and far too many on the road. I'm going with the GV60
This family needs some therapy.
Love it Dave...Why would you change cars so often...look who's calling the kettle black. :)
You guys are great.
Bloke changes cars like some bum with OCD change his socks, quite fascinating, mate
I'll save everyone time. They have money to burn, she doesn't like buttons in her car, he will be selling the model 3 he just got later this summer. This channel is whats wrong with the waste in this country where one man will go through 7 cars in 2 years.
Great video and I love the dialogue with Kathy. Married nearly 37 years. I get it.
You two seem fun to be around!!!
Most of us retired individuals have no tax liability so the tax rebate means nothing to us. It actually only helps those who do not really need a rebate!
Nice video Dave, if you could wait 6 months alot of new models that will raise up competition on all EV's ....
Nice video. Good luck getting a reasonable value from Tesla. I found then them to offer terribly low $ for trade- ins.
The Tesla will be a downgrade. Much less quiet, much less luxurious.
Thanks 🎉
Another Great Video Dave. Keep up the Great work.
How do they have sooo many EVs and not have a lvl 2 charger at their house?!?
Hi dave I live in the uk I drive a skoda enyaq and I love your channel keep up the good work. I also watch Kyle he is brilliant
Hope the model Y will be up to SPEC for you.😅
"I decided to go out and get a Lucid" has become you bought Kyle a Lucid!
No one beats a tesla, looks like
I just ordered M-Y AWD after I watched your M-Y order. I don’t drive more than 50 miles a day. So it will fit my need even in extremely cold weather.
You'll love it.
You both are the cutest couple
I would never own an EV if I could not charge it at home. I hope the Lucid Air has covered parking!
Kathy is shaaaaady!!! 😂😂😂 you both must really love one another
GV60 is a better car. No question.😗
That's a shame and is making me reconsider a GV60. What did you end up buying instead? I don't want anything to do with Elon Musk.
You got Kathy to drink the kool aid.
😮 I thought I would see the Mod Y in this video. Obviously not 😅
10:40 - this is near me!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't in good faith hand any $ over to Musk these days, but you do you.
These people change cars like every 3 months. Doesn't make good financial sense.
@@Charlesbjtown they have the assets of cars, but they are all on loans, prob 0 down, and he is now writing off the interest for the channel. so yes hes losing money on friction, but its not the entire cost of the car....
@@Charlesbjtown used car prices are still high. You can get good trade in offers. If it costs you $7000-10,000 to drive a car for a year that's not that bad. I have an entry level home theater and my dual PSA subs are $1500 each. Someday I'll have dual TV2112 IPAL and those are 7.5K for both and that's still midrange. Between equipment alone even now I've spent like $25K the last decade in my home theater
@Leander Zulu Just go all in, and do a pair of captivator 6000s, and be future proofed. And 25k over 10 years, isn't bad at all, compared to the money Dave and his son are bleeding on cars. But to be clear.... it truly is "to each his own".
You like Tesla better anyway. 😂
My wife would never do this, Kathy is a trooper. You both need grandchildren to stay busy. That's what we do with our (4), 6 y/o to 4 m/o babysitting and going to see them play sports, school events is the greatest for Papa and Gigi. Have a nice day.
Fast forward a few months : Magic Docks are (hopefully) everywhere and the Y can’t road trip any better than the GV60 could 😂
Only 7500 out 40,000 chargers will be Magic Dock.
@@DiscoveryOwners yeah there's nothing more premium than charging a Taycan at a Walmart 😂
@@laloajuria4678 why would Tesla solve CCS charging? The other manufacturers could've used the NACS standard but chose to use that horribly designed CCS plug instead. Once V4 SC start getting installed then those CCS cars will have a better charging experience but for now the only real EV to roadtrip is a Tesla. Everything else is just relegated to grocery getting status
I generally don't criticize you, but a GV60 for a Model Y is just dumb. Yes, I'm a GV60 Owner.
You're gonna hate the brittle Model Y ride
Another great show
Dave is an acquired taste LOL
Yup
You guys are like Oil and Water, but very entertaining, and enjoy watching 👀 😊.
I assume it is for more and better content for the channel - as simple as that.
Kathy is going to regret it or have already. Creature comfort is huge. We live inside the car most of the time. And it is like sitting in a bare cubical to a hotel lounge.
3 minutes in this video and I got 3 fn ads.... wtf
The Tesla is a shit car outside of the battery. The Genesis is a far better car. Tesla has a better battery and more range. Talk about not getting something to work, you're going to love the Tesla.
495 Long Island Expressway😂😂
The Genesis makes that Tesla look like poop 💩 inside and out.
Why not sell the Model 3 and keep the GV 60 rather than having 2 Teslas? That makes it for less video opportunities. Plus Kathy is really going to miss the confort and luxury of the GV60.
Sell the LFP Model 3 later this summer?!?!? Dave! We love our 2022 LFP Model 3. Don't sell! We need more content! Thanks
its boring. theres no content to make....
Why do these people have so many cars?
We gonna see in 2 years Y will have some body changes
Hopefully in the next couple years A macan Ev may come into the game and She can get back into one as an EV! I’ve also Only seen one GV60 driving but at someone’s house i delivered a pizza too they had one parked outside i couldn’t resist starting a convo about how they loved it.
How many cars do you own😂
Dave likes sleeping on the couch. 😂😂😂
