This is what happens with Nickelback - most haters hate them based on their radio (pop) hits (which are great IMO), but they rarely take the time to listen to their whole catalogue to properly criticize them.
Nickelback is 1/3 hard rock (I wouldn’t go as far as calling it metal), 1/3 mainstream rock, 1/3 power ballads. If you like this, there are several from the first third I mentioned that will surprise you and you’ll enjoy (Fight for All the Wrong Reasons, Side of a Bullet, Burn it to the Ground, Coin for the Ferryman, The Betrayal… uff so many). About 4-5 song off of every album is similar in style to this… go ahead, give it a try - I bet you’ll post another reaction video because of how good it is.

I would say my biggest gripe with Nickelback is lyrically and vocally. Their lyrics for some of their songs are not very good at all. BUT they are excellent musicians and do have some really good songs.

It is a banger. I was throughly surprised
Love this one but I'm surprised so many people think this is heavy for them. They have certainly done this before. The line "Burn it to the Ground" in the second verse I think is a reference to the song of the same name, which I'd say is one of them. Also "Side of a Bullet" and "Never Again" are on this level.
Side of a bullet, Because of you, Woke up this morning, Hangnail, Flat on the Floor, Do this anymore, Animals, Burn it to the ground, This means War, Feed the Machine, Fight for all the wrong Reasons, Follow you Home, Throw yourself away, Figured you Out, Something in Your Mouth.
All absolutely amazing heavy/hard rock songs similar to San Quentin. So many people sleep on Nickelback being heavy as fuck because all they've heard is "How you Remind Me".
This is definitely a tune up in heaviness from anything they have ever done before. I have never looked at Nickelback as a bad or cringey band because I grew up around it. Although I'm into straight heavy metal, this was nice. I hope the rest of their upcoming album is like this. As surprised as I am to say it, this one is going on the playlist.
You should probably go check out This Means War, Burn it to the Ground, or Feed the Machine if you like heavy stuff from them

Loving this!!! Nickelback has a lot of heavy music and they put on one hell of a show.
Always makes me laugh when people say, "This is heavy for Nickelback " based on the radio-centric songs released. The heavier stuff has always been been there, people just dismissed them as a sell-out because of radio played songs. Check out "Hangnail ", "Never Again ", "Coin for the Ferryman ", "Feed the Machine". You'll discover what fans have been saying for decades! They got some goods. Glad you enjoyed 😉

Burn it to the Ground is heavier but still a banger. This Means War has a heavier feel. Side of a Bullet, Just to Get High, I believe. Animals, S.E.X.,
People act like nickelback went heavy... But they have had hard songs all along.. They just normally don't put them out as singles.. I've been a fan even when it was cool to hate them..

Fun fact , Nickelback is from Canada . Also a fun fact , the back side of a Canadian nickel has a beaver on it . So Nickelback is really into beavers , or something else that's also been referred to as as a beaver .

I don't see why people are having reactions to Nickelback like this . They've always been a great band .
I'm really big into lyrical content. I always have been. On some of their bigger hits, the lyrics just don't resonate well for me. And I've never been super huge into his vocals. The music is pretty damn good, though!

I highly recommend giving a lot of their music from when I was growing up in the 2000s, some of that stuff is still fantastic.

It's honestly probably just the hype machine. It was teased heavily on social media. Since I dont follow Nickelback, I only knew from social media hype.
What’s going on nowadays? That the old usual normal nickelback, they made hard rock all the time. People hated them without knowing their music, so dumb. Nickelback is my favorite rock band and I am in metalcore normally
I said in another comment I have never been a biog fan of them lyrically. Now, they do put out some bangers musically. It's just sometimes hard for me to get past the dislike of the lyrics.

I understand metal purists not liking Nickleback, because they are not metal. But for casual rock fans, I don't get the hate. I think alot of it is peer pressure, and ditto-head nonsense.
I get that. I'm also very much a fan of lyrics, and I find myself not really connecting with a whole lot of theirs. They write some catchy riffs, though.

They’ve literally done this style since 2000. They just didn’t have popular heavier songs, just the normal acoustic/soft rock stuff that everyone hated was popular

Nickelback have loads of heavy tunes if people would be bothered to stop the hate Bull Shit and take a listen. Every album has a chocolate box mix of styles. All (mostly) good tunes. One of my favourite bands
