So old bands are now experimenting with heavier sounds!!?? This is awesome, if this is the case. Muse, kinda Foo Fighters (for the Studio 666 movie), and now Nickelback (sort of heavy). It makes sense. They're past they're prime and want to just change things up because they know they won't lose they're audience.

Honestly if you think this is out of character for Nickelback, you probably have not listened to enough of their material. This has always been in their arsenal. Listen to songs like Side of a Bullet and Never Again, they both have a similar groove and were both released in the mid 2000s.

No disrespect. But this isn't a new sound for Nickelback. This is what they sound like, check out Something in Your Mouth. Burn it to the Ground. Just to Get High, This Means War. Just to give a few examples.
I have to disagree with you, it's obvious it's Nickelback if you're a devoted fan and this isn't even their "heaviest" song. Take a look at their early years or even their last album "Feed The Machine." They're not back or forward, they're the same Nickelback as always with 2 different sides, Pop/Rock Radio side and their Alternative Rock version.

I am a Nickelback fan, and I don't know what all the fuss is about. Nickelback has had some pretty hard songs before this one, like Never Again for one. That's what is great about them. They can do many styles of music from basically country, ballads, to good old-fashioned rock.

Songs like, Must Be Nice, Million Miles An Hour, Burn It To The Ground, This Means War, Bottoms Up, Never Again and Animals. This is pretty normal when Nickelback Rocks out. Hard or soft in the end that's what they are an Awesome Rock band. **shruggs**

This is awesome but this is not the first heavy song they've ever done. They put on a rocking show. All the crap people give as an excuse to 'hate' Nickelback is crazy. They don't do or say anything worse than AC/DC and a bunch of other bands I've listened to my whole life.
I don't get the Hate. They play original music and are NOT Metal in anyway. So don't go into thinking its the next Master of Puppets song or album. Its Not! Great band and tune.

@@annettefriede8585 They are mostly hated because of jealousy towards them and due to the fact that they are known for their mellow (although beautiful) ballads, and not for their heavy songs 😊
But this is nickelback. They are alternately talented can play many different ways they are not just one genre specific. Older nickelback (silver side up pre ) tends to be much heavier like this

it's annoying....all these people who are so suprised by this "new" heavy metal sound from nickelback only know their radio friendly more cheesy ballads, and have CLEARLY never listenend to any other songs from their albums. IMO they are a well rounded rock/metal band.
