Best Gimbal for Canon M50 // Zhiyun Weebill S vs Feiyutech G6 Max [2020]

- Today we are looking at the Zhiyun Weebill S and the Feiyutech G6 Max- two similar, yet very different compact gimbals. We are discussing which of these is the best GIMBAL for the Canon M50, primarily with the Sigma 16mm ‘ultimate vlogging lens’.
OR, with even newer Canon mirrorless cameras like the Canon M6 Mk II.
Since these gimbals are being considered for crop sensor mirrorless cameras, which are compact in nature, it’s important to me to find a fairly compact gimbal to match. It’s also important that the gimbal is powerful enough to handle Sigma lenses from the EF-M line, and obtain super smooth shots.

I too have the Weebill S but I have yet to use it. I have the Feiyutech AK2000 v2. which I thought was going to be good for my Canon M50 but it never worked, I could never get it to balance correctly. So still new in a box! Hopefully with your help I can get started on my journey with this M50 and the Weebill S.

I loveeeee my canon m50. I bought the body and lens separately, which is the 10-18mm lens. It's wide angle so its perfect for vlogging and sit down videos as well! If anyone has been debating if they should get it..... YOU SHOULD!!!! GREAT CAMERA!!!!

Thank you so much for this review, I've been considering a weebill s and I think you put it over for me. I prefer to vlog handheld but would like a small gimbal that fits in a backpack for some cool b roll.
My only question, can you fit your rode mic on with it underslung or in vortex mode? I don't think it would work with a shotgun but that slick little wireless one I was curious about. Thanks again for all the great content!

I have been doing a lot of research on the m50 and I like all your videos. Do you recommend just getting the body without the stock lense and just get one of the Sigma lenses?
I've tested out both with my M50 and Weebill S is the one I went with. Only gripe is that the Image Transmission Module's HDMI cables aren't made with the M50 in mind. I had to scavenge the internet for a while to find a right-angle, coiled HDMI cable... but I did and it works! Despite Zhiyun saying the Weebill S's Image Transmission Module isn't compatible with the M50. And the Weebill S handles the M50 with Sigma 16mm like a charm! Love this combo!

Very informative video, thanks! I'm currently looking for a gimbal for my Cannon M50. I do like both gimbals but I won't purchase the G6max since the motor is showing you signs of problems in under one year . The Weebill S is nice but I would like it to be compared to other gimbals in the same $400 price range.

Hey Amie. Thanks for validating my purchase of weebill S. I was almost about to buy the g6 max based on your previous review but went with this one just to have an option to upgrade later. Need a quick advice. Would you know which quick release mount works best with the weebill and canon m50 combo ? I hate rebalancing it every time. Also my current quick release plate blocks the battery compartment. I was thinking of the zhiyun quick release but not sure if it works.

Is it worth buying the Weebill S gimbal to use it with the M50 and the kit lens? I'm torn if I should buy the gimbal first or the Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens...there is an amazing sale on Amazon for prime day for the gimbal.
Do you think that the G6 max works better for the m6 mark ii since it doesn't have the viewfinder? I've been looking at these exact same gimbals but I'm worried that the weevil S is a bit too large especially for my intended use of using a gimbal in place of a little tripod

Any suggestions for carrying a gimbal when you are not shooting with it? Sometimes on vacation, I need both hands and would like to hang the camera + gimbal on a strap. I am thinking of using my A6600 / 16-50mm lens / Feiyutech G6 Max with my Black Rapid strap attached to the tripod socket of the gimbal. Any ideas?
I have both of these as well. Was debating which one to donate to one of my friends who is just starting out.....Kinda wanted to make sure my feelings were shared by others. Luckily she's got a very lightweight camera with kit lens. Looks like I'm keeping the Zhiyun for myself afterall. Haha
Why have you nixed DJI Ronin SC (and RSC 2)? Do you recommend the Pro Transmission Package for the Weebil S? What about Weebil S-2?

Would love your feedback. I did buy the G6 Max based on original review you had done ( bought the m50 for same reason :) Now that you have used Weeble S .. it seems that G6 Max I should send back. I plan to use for video shooting of our littles just for keepsake purposes, and also fo some UA-cam cooking recordings. I plan to by the 16mm lens you recommend in the future and the RODE microphone ( wireless ones). Am I good to keep the g6 you think or Weeble S. is needed? Ideally hope not to have to buy a new one every year
I JUST got the G6 max for my M50 with the Sigma 16mm lens. I am not happy with it because it is too much weight or the lens makes it too front heavy. It seems harder on the motors. I'm going to try and return it tomorrow or sell it and get the Weebill instead since the Weebill seems to hold more weight and no problems with the bigger lens. So we'll see!

Can you attach a microphone to the camera while using the gimbal?
It may well be a little heavy to hand Vlog for too long but it has feet, so you can use table top, counter top etc to lay it down and just speak to camera that way. I’ve not checked, but if the app works in the same way as on the V2, you can use it to have smooth time lapse panning shots, and you can add in several points in the pan so it can effectively change direction mid pan

Yep! There is no difference in body style between the Canon M50 original, and the Mark II. I've been using the Weebill S with my Mark II and it works great.

Yes, it's super annoying. I'm still looking for a plate that allows the battery to be squeeeezed out. I can get the SD card out with most plates attached tho..

I bought the Feiyutech G6Max, Cannon M50 and the Sigma lens partially because of your recommendations. I regret the G6 max. I've had so little luck with it I think I'll try selling it. I had it working one time after hours of messing with it but was never able to do it again. I also tried it with my iphone and I gave up. I do like the M50 and the Sigma lens, though.

Hi Alicia. I am a new canon M50 owner and I am trying it with the Crane M2 and having problems connecting the wifi. Have you tried that combo? Did you find connecting your combos easy enough?
