In 50 years I never needed to clean my washing machine; all of a sudden I smelled the smell! Your technique totally works, I was very happy with the result, and although I should have worn gloves I didn't and had no problems with the vinegar.

Hi Andrea, FYI "the disgusting smell gets in there much more quickly" your exactly right, stop using those little beads..
Possibly they penetrate through the porous sidewalls of the washing tub as soon as they can fit through and then they would accumulate in the trap at the bottom near the pump probably blocking the line until they dissolve which would mean the water would sit and start to stink.. Also the little beads would dissolve just enough to make their way into the pump for discharge very likely impacting on the impeller hastening the wear and tear failure of the little plastic fan. So, FYI.. 1) you know it makes your washer stink sooner. 2) now you know it fouls your water trap. 3) and now you are aware of the minute damage to plastic propeller in the water pump. So with a Possibly, Probablyx2, and a very likely, its up to you, good luck!

Beware: Always check your manual. Vinegar is sometimes used as a fabric softener or for getting rid of stains and odors in laundry, but as with dishwashers, it can damage the rubber seals and hoses in some washing machines to the point of causing leaks.

Store bought vinegar is extremely diluted from it's full blown form (acetic acid). Why would vinegar cause rubber seals to break down?

      @@shannonthomas8629
Yes! Already diluted to 5% then diluted like 1000 to 1 or something in the washer…. One could argue that it does nothing at all, but it’s just impossible that it could cause damage.

    • @adog7787
      @adog7787 2 роки тому +2

If acetic acid in dilute solution causes the rubber to leak acids from dirty clothes will do the same, meaning the product is garbage if true. Or it’s not an issue.

My husband and I have a laundry machine business. We only sell Whirlpool Cabrio and Maytag Cabrio machines. There are made by the same company, so they’re identical machines. When we get them from our suppliers that all need bearings. If your machine sounds like an airplane taking iff, the bearings need to be replaced. When we get our machines they are really dirty. In order to replace the bearings the machine needs to be dismantled right down to the case. If you have this true if machine with a wash plate or agitator take off the cap at the bottom. You’ll see a lot of gunk on it. Soak it and next get the nut out of the center, then you can lift up the wash plate. Disgusting, right? Yeah, I know! Wash that! We go a step further and undo the 5 screws that holds the tub , and we get the tub out. Most are caked with dirt, soap scum, and fabric softener blocking the holes. I get my scrub brush and my hose and scrub the dirt off the tub , then I clean the plastic basket the tub sits in. It’s gross, caked with dirt and smells bad, but it comes right off.
If you think your washing machine is clean…I’m here to tell you it’s not. Not at all. You must get into that machine and clean it.

Baking soda, salt, and vinager plus a pan of boiling hot water make an AWESOME organic drain clearer. Use equal parts 1cup of all 3 start with salt, baking soda, then the vinegar, wait for it too do it's work about 2/3mins then dump the pan of hot water add a little lemon juice if you want for a clean fresh citrus smell and it also helps to clean as well.
    From one mom to another!
Thanks for the tip on the washing machine. If you take a rag with a little laundry soap (very little) and water(I have a spray bottle I use) and a clean dry rag. Cleans the dry out perfectly!😁

Let top load washer fill with hot water and leave lid open. AS YOU POUR IN a 1 pound bag of citric acid stir in acid then let sit for 2 hours. Shut lid and let it run a full cycle. THIS IS WAY BETTER than the vinegar. Vinegar is a slight acid BUT citric acid cleans AND KILLS mold on contact.

I saw a video of someone that popped off the flat agitator at the bottom so I thought I’d try that.. I popped off that little white cap looking piece in the middle of the bottom and it was completely covered in grime. It basically looked like mud. Sooo disgusting! I’m wondering what it looks like under the agitator. I couldn’t get the bolt off so I will just clean with the vinegar and baking soda and have faith that it cleans it, but I’d be curious to see if underneath your cap is still dirty after the vinegar rinse.

At 3:46 You say this clip is only for busy women.... I am an alpha male who actually cleans, so not voicing a butt hurt report here, however, men should not be discriminated against because of a false narrative perpetuated by certain stereotypes that men don’t clean or are not busy... equal opportunity after all. So equal opportunity means, women can’t discriminate against men either.... it’s offensive. And as we all know in the world of social media, discrimination is illegal. Helpful video though, it actually helped me in my cleaning duties.

Sooooo, there's dirt and grime in every single crevice the renters left behind and... can it rlly be cleaned??? The gasket too is absolutely filthy, I've been trying to reach it with a toothbrush, and I see hair in unreachable places which is nasty

If you get some rosewood sticks they use for nails, that’s super helpful to get to places. You can wrap the top in a little with of cotton wool. Toothpicks are also awesome. I’ve also cleaned crevices in appliances using a piece of cardboard. I run it through seams and the gunk usually just comes out the other side 🫢

Do you fill water to the top for load once you have done the hand cleaning part?

I was told perhaps too much soap could be the issue here so changed to pods. Just have to get the measurements right

can I use this same method for my Dishwasher?

I always use a cottage cheese container and fill it up with vinegar and put it on the top rack. It tips over during the dishwasher cycle and you have a clean machine.

    I use bleach.
    *interesting though.
Btw I never put it directly into the bin but instead into the dispenser.
