    This is EXACTLY the video I was searching for! I kept running into the same videos. Baking soda, vinegar, washer cleaning products, etc. Nothing that shows me ALL the different areas of the washer that need cleaning. Thanks for this!

    Nobody is judging you Heather - it’s sad that the internet can be that way and you have to make a disclaimer when this is totally normal after a long time. Mine hasn’t been done in nearly 2 years so it’s going to be a lot worse and I’ll be using this process - so helpful thank you! 💪

      I haven’t washed mine this thoroughly since we moved here, 6 years ago. My son always wondered what the little trap door on the bottom was, but I never checked it out. Until today when I unleashed a bunch of stinky water that made us gag. D:

    I'd be the last to judge, Heather. I've owned my washer for YEARS and once or twice run some vinegar through it. That's the extent of my cleaning. Your gunk is NOTHING compared to mine. Mine was so bad that my 41-year-old son noticed it when he was over doing laundry. I am left with some mold and mildew stains but after an hour or so of work and sanitizing cycle with some bleach (I'll do the vinegar and baking soda tomorrow as a follow-up), my machine sparkles and smells immaculate. This is a wonderful video. I watched it a step at a time, then went to perform that step and so on. Well done.

    Great quality video, I enjoyed watching!
    One thing you’re missing out on is using the pure cycle! The button for that is on the little control panel not the cycle selector. I just turned it on and hit the pure cycle button.
    That’s a long hot cycle design to clean the washer and gasket! It’s uses a good bit of water spun fast inside the drum, swirling, the water up over the gasket, cleaning it in the process. As per Samsung manual, they say for best results you can pour a little bit of bleach and detergent compartment.

    I think people actually appreciate showing the amount of grime that can build up in a year. I know I certainly did. It is a dirty job that I know I have been procrastinating, and I don't think anyone really enjoys doing. So, I don't think anyone is judging you, and if they are, that is their problem;)

    This was SO helpful to see. We are having the same build up issues in our gasket and I just needed to see someone else clean this situation up using chemicals, elbow grease, gloves, and a brush ... cause I was *this* close to just flat out buying a brand new washing machine. But seeing that it IS possible to clean all the rubber and the nooks and crannies gave me the motivation and inspiration I needed to try it myself. So THANK YOU. I appreciate you.

    Super helpful, I have been struggling with how to clean the gasket. I have the exact same washer, love the vinegar and baking soda idea. The only add on, I use a toothbrush to clean the inside of that filter at the bottom of the washer, since it is hard to reach. Great video and love the reflection of your robe. 🤣

    I literally have never commented on a UA-cam video before. I just moved into a "new" house and they had this washer. All I can say is THANK YOU. This video was so informative and helpful ❤️ it made my washer so clean. I had some pretty bad stains and the only thing I did differently was a hot water bleach mixture. Left it on the rubber for about 5-10 min. Took most of the stains right out! Thank you again 🙏

    Thank you for this great tutorial! I just moved into a house with a washer and did a deep clean after watching your video. My question is, how do you clean out the rest of the pipe inside the machine? I cleaned out the detergent dispenser trays and inside the washer, but I can still see mildew beyond what I can reach and I can only imagine it goes into the bowels. I feel icky just thinking that water is going past moldy piping to try and clean my clother.

    I just finished a deep clean on my Samsung because it wasnt draining..replaced the drain pump and it's working fine now but it was disgusting inside. Those bottle brushes work really well to get between that back rubber gasket and that hard plastic that the gasket is attached to. Right behind that is the metal wheel that makes the basket spin. That gets covered with soap scum and gunk! just running vinegar and soda through the washer will not get rid of it.
    Bottlebrush bottlebrush bottlebrush. I'm telling you they are amazing. They come in different sizes and they are fantastic for getting the gunk off of those hard-to-reach places! You could even dip the brush in a cleaner. Better than a toothbrush and since a bottlebrush pipe cleaner style is metal, it bends!

    This Samsung model actually has the PureCycle setting that you press and then press Start. It's their self-cleaning mode. I think you can use it along with the baking soda/vinegar combo to really maximize cleanliness. It runs for about 2 hours and, according to the manual, you're supposed to use it once a month.

    Lowe's sells a washer cleaner powder that does an excellent job. You put a pack straight in the drum along with a pitcher of VERY hot water and then run a normal wash cycle on hot. We had to do ours twice because it was still soaping up. That thing smells fresh and clean now. Also we are leaving the soap dispenser open now between washes, along with the door. These front loaders DO require cleaning about every few months.

    Every time I finish using my front load washer, I take a Terry wash cloth and wipe the door gasket and the inside & outside of the door. The dispenser and inside dispenser get wiped down to remove moisture. Then I store the dispenser tray inside the washer with the door opened. Filter get cleaned on a monthly basis as well as tub cleaning.

  • @TiredMomma
    @TiredMomma 4 місяці тому +1

    Our front load washer doesn't have a filter, or whatever that little tube thing is that water came out from. Our tray is nearly identical though.
    The rubber ring is the worst. It's so difficult with how tight it is to get within that gap space.
    At least we've been sure to do it's monthly cleaning cycle with the pods it needs since we bought it. But vinegar and baking soda alone doesn't help with the mildew build up within the rubber ring, and vinegar apparently shouldn't be used, that could be why it's hardened more, my bad. I just want to have clean clothes.
    Although a front load washer is more gentle on our clothes and cleans better, cleaning the rubber ring became a weekly chore. And we can't take ours off. We'd have to hire someone trained to replace the ring. There's a risk of getting hurt from the tension of the wire and spring keeping the ring in place.

    I’ve heard that mixing vinegar and baking soda actually reduces their effectiveness. The chemical reaction that happens is the baking soda neutralizing the vinegar, so now you have a solution with the benefits of neither the acid of vinegar nor the alkalinity of the baking soda.

      Yes, alkaline and base. You can run each separate. I mix them together for the reaction, works great for me!

    I have had my washing machine for 22 years now and don't have any issues with it the secret is when finish with it leave the door open and let it dry out and you won't get any smells.

    All these comments are quite old so not really looking for a reply although I’d love one. I have a Samsung front loader and I wash my machine often, I have to keep the door and drawer closed sake of my 2 year old daughter. My machine often smells and before putting a wash in I have to rinse and spin until the odor has gone. It’s so frustrating as we clean it at least every 2 months and the same problem arises. Today I decided to do a baking soda and vinegar clean again and the amount of black flakes on my machine that won’t go away now is killing me emotionally. This is the second 2 hour hot wash today and there’s more flakes than before.. What can I do please if anyone sees this x

    I’m sure 99% of our washers are like that. I have a Samsung too and was just cleaning it. It’s so nasty, I’m running two cycles with Afresh, will try the baking soda later.

    I did a self clean and had to use the shop vac to suck the debris up inside still but it came out nicely and I got a lot out of the trap. Who knew it was so nasty

    This entire cleaning is usually recommended every how often? Debating to get either top or front loading set. Would you still buy front loading again?

    • @HeatherBray
      @HeatherBray  7 місяців тому

      I do a deep clean every couple of months or when it shows signs of needing. Always leave door open and drawers open to air out is key. I ended up getting another front loader as this one was almost 12 years old. I have a counter over so the top loader wasn’t going to work :)
