Power Rangers meets The Boys, is how I explain it to others. It's how Power Rangers would likely be in real life, these selfish celebrity like people using their enemies to maintain their position. If the Rangers were actually "Good Guys" they'd just destroy the monsters, not imprison and torture them for gain.

However, as he was relatively new at the time, his editor convinced him to do the gotobun romcom first to build up experience and a reputation for himself (even then, sentai daishikakku first arc had little bits of issues with pacing till he sanded out the problems, and got a fantastic ending).

It's honestly pretty wild how the Rangers are torturing the monsters and using them as pawns to broadcast a TV show. They're using the monsters to build fame and wealth since the Rangers are practically celebrities. So, the Rangers wouldn't be rich and famous without the monsters. Yaboyroshi described this show pretty well. He said: "Imagine if somebody tries robbing your house and then you lock the robber in your basement. It's like WTF, just kill me or turn me into the authorities!"
So it's kinda like the Boys when they were making Super Terrorists so they would need more heroes like the Seven to stop them

Hey fun fact: The first monster the “Ul-tora Tiger” has double meaning.
Tora is Tiger in Japanese. So you have tiger twice, plus alliteration with “Ultra”
This is the best anime of this season for me
