    Since I started following Dan and Pat’s work I’ve simplified my workouts. The one thing about their work is that they don’t just feed you for a day. They teach you how to fish.
    Help Dan beat the Algo 👍🔁✅🛎️

      That’s so true! After listening quite a lot to Dan John, I find that I am empowered to adapt workouts to my own needs, based on previous injuries etc. I always try to balance out my workouts with the basic push-pull-hinge-squat-carry principle.

    For the German Roofer, I am the same size but 10yrs older. Eat veggies, protein and good carbs (oats, potatoes, rice). Sleep 7+ hrs. Don’t smoke or drink. You have to train your hinge pattern. I would go for heavy swings and/or deadlifts. I would also do something to bulletproof your shoulders like backwards bear crawls uphills or KB overhead press. Lastly, a good mobility program like OS, GMB etc will keep you limber for work. I am a construction worker also.

    Great as always. Bit off topic but I just love that intro and the scenary. This concentre and glass jungle I call home makes me miss the hills and mountains every time.

      Thank you. I'm trying to make my backyard a place for the bees, the butterflies, and the birds. So far...so good.

    I have my best luck with the ABC doing it on Wednesday and Monday was double press focus with Friday being double front squat focused. Strength gains were awesome and the I was able to run the press and squat up for a while and the ABC got me a good heart work out (even though heavy double KB front squats really get heart moving).

    I’ve been experimenting with a mixture of ROP and Stew Smiths PT Pyramid… 1 Kb clean and press, 1 pull ups, 2 push ups and 3 swings… then 2, 2, 4, 6… 3, 3, 6, 9 and so on. The goal is to get up to 10, 10, 20, 30 and back down. Polish it off with some loaded Carrie’s with the weight vest.

    So much great info this week, thanks! 😃
    I'm getting back into the ABC after straining both triceps. Starting with double 12kg's & working up to 30 rounds EMOM. Then I'll alternate each round with double 16kg's in order to eventually be able to do a complete 30 rounds with double 16 kg's.

    Regarding kettlebell swings 'idiot proof' drills, I think it was in Easy Strength where it said *"feed a towel through the handle of the kettlebell and swing while holding the ends of the towel. you cannot swing incorrectly when you do this because you can only swing the kettlebell using your hips not your arms"*

      It fixes so many people at the RKC. But, it is a bit "down the road" for many people.

  • @mohrstephen
    @mohrstephen Рік тому

    Hey, Dan. I was looking at RKC's site about improving snatch endurance. They had a snatch complex where they recommended alternating 2 front squats and 1 windmill after EMOTM snatch set. It gave me an idea when doing your Armor Building Complex. After the 2, 1, 3, I windmill a 16kg (alternate sides each set) to give it a carry aspect and there's still over :30 remaining of rest before the next EMOTM set begins. My fitness tracker has noted a sustained elevated heart rate with the addition.

    Wow I just started an 8 week program that has some ballistics in it. Definitely moderate amounts so I think I’ll be ok. Doing 2 weeks of 3x8 3x5 5x3 5x5

    In Korea, among exercise enthusiasts, there is a discourse to move on to other exercises after achieving a total of 500kg in the sum of the three major exercises: squat, deadlift, and bench press. Now, in korea, 500 in the sum of the three functions as a kind of rite of passage. SIR, Do you have a standard for this kinds of level of excellence? I remember that you (and harstyle kettlebell masters) have introduced half-body weight kettlebell press as a first goal before. Are there other criteria?

      I have a lot of standards...and people criticize them constantly. I think I have them in most of my books. See: danjohnuniversity.com/bookstore

      @@DanJohnStrengthCoach i purchased it yesterday and it is the best thing that I have done for my training education! I read it in one day and i plan to do kettlebell presses, snatches, goblet squats and carries for the next 40 days . Thank you for your time and your contribution to the training world.

    Would you consider goblet squats to be front squats?

    • @DanJohnStrengthCoach
      @DanJohnStrengthCoach  Рік тому

      Same family, but the Front Squat requires more flexibility and mobility. And, of course, the issue of load...

    I would be surprised if a prison anywhere in the world would have kettlebells in the gym, as they can be used as weapons and no prison will have a pullup bar in a cell (su*cide risk) so greasing the groove for ten hours wouldn't be possible. For a minimalist home setup though, absolutely. It's a nice thought experiment.
