Thanks so much for the advice on what to do if the earring hook breaks when you twist it. It was happening to me constantly, and I thought my hooks were just bad. But by carefully supporting it well as you showed, I was able to get the ones I had to work. Yay!

Hello, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I thought my ears were pierced incorrectly.😥😥 What is the size of the jump rings you used for making the earrings? Thank you.

Hi, Sara! Thanks for your question! You'll want to turn the bottom loop of each earring hook so both earrings will hang straight. If I didn't understand your question, please let me know. Thank you!
Hi, are you using two jump rings, or just one? Also, are you twisting the earring hook loops as I show in this video? That technique combined with using only one jump ring should do the trick. :)
@@AmyRomeu i tried using one jump ring, 2 jump rings, no jump ring, twisted the hook loop as well but still after wearing that earring it doens't stand straight

If not, please let me know and I'm happy to reply again with a better answer to your question! :) Thank you.
Do the ball ear wire hooks keep the earring on it so you don't have to worry about it falling off? Where using the earring and jump ring keeps the earring on it for sure.

I actually bought some earring hooks once that had the bottom turned the other way. I noticed it right away when I first used them, because it was unusual. So people can probably try to find them already done. I didn't buy them intentionally. I didn't notice until I went to use them the first time.
Hi, Sommer! I'm happy to help. :) First, be sure your pliers are jewelry making pliers, with smooth, flat jaws (not teeth). Also you want to hold the earring hook firmly between your thumb and forefinger, covering as much of the hook as you can, before you start to twist the loop with pliers. If you are using the right pliers and holding the hook firmly before you twist - it may your earring hooks. I would suggest different earring hooks. The ones I link to in the video are from Amazon and they twist without any breakage. Let me know if this helps!
Hey Amy! First thanks so much for the tutorial! I actually use this method myself, but I noticed the earrings still go a little sideways. But maybe that's just the angle of my earlobes LOL. Any advice?
Hi, Danielle! Thanks for your comment! Yes, that could be. I think that's ok though, it's natural for the earrings to move along with the shape of your face.
Hi, thanks for your comment. No, but I do like their ball ear wire hooks! I also use hooks from Amazon, Etsy, and the jewelry supply company Fire Mountain Gems.
Hello Amy, for earrings such as alloy charms, such as kitty cats with black enamel facing for example, they hang backwards to where the back of the earring the part that is all gold color faces the front and not the black Kitty cat part. I don't understand why there are no tutorials for earrings like that. That is what I work with. There is one tutorial where a lady suggests actually opening up opening on the ear wire itself!!! Horrible, bad idea!! They are not meant to be opened that's why we have jump rings!! Once you open up the little hook on the ear wire itself, number one they will now be out of balance and the little ball will no longer sit and rest on it, you cannot close them back to the way they originally were. Why in the world would somebody suggest something so stupid like that? I ruined about 20 hooks attempting to do this. The second suggestion was using two jump rings. That was a little to no help. I've also tried twisting my hook as well, however, I'm not sure if I have done it the way you are suggesting here. I will give it a try. I'm at my Wit's end and I don't know what to do to get the facing part to hang straight.
Hi, Tina! The trick is to to be sure you are gripping the hook between your thumb and forefinger firmly and covering as much of the hook as you can with your fingers before you start to twist. This helps keep the entire hook stable and sturdy. If that doesn't work, I would suggest trying different hooks. Let me know if that helps!
I just use an additional jump ring.
Yes, that's certainly another option! Thanks for your comment.
