Much as I love Etho, as a technical player I have to say this is not as revolutionary as you make it out to be. The storage tech community, yes there's a whole subset of the technical community that just focuses on storage, has created many MIS (multiple item sorter) systems that are more compact and user friendly than this one. That being said this design is certainly innovative in its use of minecarts and water mechanics and has a very low resource requirement compared to other designs, so it definitely fills a unique niche as an inexpensive early game MIS.
Doc is actually the nicest. He spent his first day getting villager trading set up and he freely let everyone use it even to the point of cleo stealing the villagers.
I get most of my hermit content from Grian and didn’t realize Doc had that reputation bc just about every time I’ve seen him in something he’s solving problems for little or no gain. He’s so nice and helpful!
Thats why i dont understand why beef tried so hard to gain from the deal in the video while literally doing nothing for it. Ictotally understand Doc's move now to sell his Woods like he does. With only 1 log in one shulker and you get to keep the shulkers. Love the pettyness and think he on top should forbid Beef the use of his Shulker Farm. Doc seems to be such a wholesome guy but continue treating him like beef does and you will regret it. The dedication this man has is insane, he build that hourglas in like a week or so? Definitely not a person you should mess with.
Hermits are probably focusing on interactions this season, iskalls vodskall posts, the mail system, permit tradings, the demise game, the horse highway, the neighborhood, magic mountain. Everyone seems to have fun, playing minecraft in a slower pace brings more enjoyment tbh, rather than getting burnout.
@@sunshine8338They did intentionally all (except for Doc) start their bases way closer together than usual. I believe the plan is that these aren't just their fun little starter bases before scattering to the wind like they always do, they're actually all staying this close together for the entirety of the season
I can absolutely see Etho giving away “Free glass” then coming back to his shareholders to report negative earnings and request diamonds to get the business out of the red.
I mean with all the accounting that needs to happen all the profits will be eaten up in accounting hours and the partners will have to cover 50% of that probably huge huge bill
Etho bringing up the old trauma of pre-enchant tools. I had forgotten how "unbreaking" used to mean only using the diamond tools for important stuff and sticking with stone tools for everything else.
@happiness7808 No, even with the villager changes, mending is still obtainable, and emeralds are much cheaper than old minecraft due to raid farms. Besides that, a lvl 30 enchant will still only consume 3 levels and we can disenchant with grindstones. The villager changes are a significant nerf for sure, but it is by no means reverting back to old minecraft levels of difficulty. Even the biome restrictions aren't that bad unless you have a tiny world border...
@@cvangemon1307if that were the reason Beef wouldn't slowly turn into the evil farmer whose house constantly gets destroyed. Etho is simply the purest form of von sway.
I think him and Geminitay didn’t use to get along too well, cus Tay used to be pretty defensive around etho and they would bicker a lil bit. But that was back when Pixelmon was a big thing, everything seems normal these days😎
Edit:Spoilers for the vid so I don’t accidentally spoil it for mobile users I love how Etho went from being sad he got a glass permit to getting all of them
@@Kirmeinsactually I was being a bit sarcastic… both Doc and Etho can do the good guy/bad guy role. Doc was being super generous with the shulker boxes in this episode , but he was bullying beef and Skizz with his wood monopoly in his last episode. As bdubs said once “it’s just an endless cycle!” And I love it!
Since you owe each of the hermits 50% of the glass profits you should name the glass (with signs, not actually naming every block) with brand names based on the hermits you owe a cut to. That way you don't forget who gets what. Doctor Blue, Knightly Red, Gold Gems and stuff like that.
Man nobody's talking about the brilliantly simple item sorter??? So slick. And you can have multiple hopper minecarts running through it simultaneous, so there's a constant train of hopper carts processing an input chest.
doesnt the minecart pass over the hoppers beneath it before it can pick up the items above it though? what if it needs to bring items to the second chest in a column but said items have just been deposited in the hopper above and thus dont reach the correct place. im also questioning wether the minecart could move to fast giving the hopper not enough time to sort its items into the chest.. also if the first hopper gets filled up with junk the second hopper wont be a ble to unload its items in the chest even if its supposed to. honestly I think the system might be to simple for its own good.
I am not sure it makes sense. Won't the minecart push into the hoppers when above and then pull from them when below? I'd have to see the system working to understand how it makes sense...
"I was trying to design my own". And he did, typical Etho, doing things on his own, and continues to invent, the man's genius. The ink farm is also great idea, although I don't follow other MC players, so I don't know if it was done already before.
I love the “I played old old Minecraft”. The man cave was originally covered in grass before silk touch and had to spread naturally down from the surface.
I think the best thing about that system is, I can build it. Like not following a tutorial or set up redstone etc, it's just so simple and easy to understand
how is no one talking about the low tech sorter?! It is 14 years ago Etho made his boat dispenser, and he is still doing it. Finding simple creative original solutions to specific problems.
Oh, by the way Etho- the weird block lag (14:57) when breaking blocks and opening doors is caused by the combination of the Nvidium and Bobby mods. You could take out Nvidium and sacrifice some load times to prevent it or take out Bobby and sacrifice some render distance. Or you could do neither. Up to you.
Does this always happen? I don't think I ever really see it when watching Doc, so I'm not sure. I don't have an Nvidia system, so I don't run Nvidium obvious, I'm just curious.
Oh thank you so much for that. I figured it was a mod doing it and I would have to try removing them 1 by 1 until I found it... but you just saved me so much time.
Maybe also consider Distant Horizons if you have to give up Bobby, I use Bobby + Nvidium on single player with uncapped render distance without issues, but on a server you can only load the chunks the server gives you anyway, so Bobby + Nvidium being faster for flying around in new chunks doesn't matter as much.
Even if this is slower and less compact than traditional multi item storage systems, it is infinitely simpler. I'm also definitely stealing that squid farm idea, all of my axolotls died in mine so I'm just going to put a couple guardians and a lid on it and call it a day.
@@zpoodle1245 agreed, you either had to swim in the ocean/rivers with a looting sword. Or put a bunch of effort into making a dedicated farm and then controlling spawns. My farm is in a relatively isolated river biome so i didn't have to drain a bunch of rivers to improve its rates. But now we have the middle ground, bring 1 guardian back to a good spot like a river and use allays to pick up the items. I also like the different options for this, cub started with just a boat on the surface, but now cub has his in a minecart lower in the water column, and etho is going full free range guardian.
The sorting system shows what makes Etho Etho. I am in awe how simple this is. Only people who have build large multi item sorters before will understand.
I love how Etho’s setup has slowly escalated into a running gag as we’ve learned more and more about it since the days of the duct tape and glue mic. Etho truly is *the* cryptid hermit, I feel like we’ve all just been Etho’d. Though, that being said, having like a good chunk of your forearm rest on the desk for the mouse is really comfy, even without the horizontal grip or anything. And now that I think about it, 10 years ago when he switched to the sideways mouse position is when he had the carpal tunnel issues when playing Mindcrack.
Etho's been the only Minecraft creator I've watched for years and years, but this season has been so good that I've been unable to help myself from watching several other hermits.
The keyboard/mouse discussion is missing an important detail: Etho said in the same stream that on top of all that madness his desk is at shoulder height. So when he's gaming his elbows are on the same level as his shoulders.
1. TBH as an RMT who also plays Minecraft with the buds, less wrist strain is always a good thing. 2. Apparently he's freakishly tall so maybe he can see above the tissue box
I don't know if anywhere else in the world has a similar thing, but in St. Louis, MO a local philanthropist in the 1990s got extremely curious about the local-area archeology. He put out the call on the ol' Dunder Mifflin social media app for any interesting historical artifacts or natural-sciences tidbits. After amassing a large warehouse's worth of stuff donated to him by workers and students, he bought an old 8-story hotel nobody was using and turned it into the St. Louis City Museum. Everything from bugs (dead ones pinned to display cases) and fish/reptiles to fossils and rock/mineral samples to random doodads from long-gone decades dug up by construction workers has a place inside. Being it was intended to be an 8-story learning-playground for kids, something like 85% of the building's entire volume was built as a maze-like rat-warren of secret tunnels and odd passageways that ran interconnected throughout the entire 8 stories. On the roof was a playground area with a ferris wheel, a couple slides, and some small areas (one of them being a schoolbus held halfway off the building) for climbing around in. I doubt you can build something similar in a small enough area and still have it look good and not feel annoying to move through, but I think this could be a nice idea for the glass shop. A similar idea would be a callback to OGtho's glass-tube mob-filtering attempts from early Minecraft and before Chocolate Island.
I have never heard of the St. Louis City Museum, but thanks to you I just looked it up and it seems like a neat place I want to go to. (I'm a sucker for places that have a "please explore, be hands-on, and have a mini-adventure" mentality.)
@@FentonHardyFan Very fun and cool place to visit. Lots of stuff to do. They even have a skate park in there if I remember correctly. It has always been a place for family and friends to unwind. Something for everyone there. It is not just a kids place.
i live on the west coast but i've been to the magic house in st louis one or two times growing up, and i'd never heard of this place, or if i did, the memory's long faded (i remember repeatedly riding some multistory indoor slide somewhere, but none of the other imagery i've looked up feels familiar..). really wish i'd gone! though it myself without family sounds like a better experience for my tastes. suppose i have a reason to go back if i ever wish to
Are we just ignoring that multi item storage system?? That’s such a cool way of setting it up a very original, fun and surprisingly effective way of doing it
25:44 'Ah, Magenta glass!' - such disappointment from Etho's perspective but imagine how horrified the other Hermits would be if he got the gray glass permit.
I love how everyone is just throwing their glass permits at Etho without him even asking. Soon every hermit is gonna have shares in Etho's glass shop. He's gonna be splitting diamonds all season.😂😂😂
42:25 "Wait, we don't have a trade agreement with the states?" "I hope we do or I've been doing my taxes wrong all this time" I have not laughed this hard in a long while
@@Gardor Canada, the United States, and Mexico do in fact have a trade agreement in real life, called the USMCA (formerly known as NAFTA). This treaty encourages trade between the three countries by removing a lot of the barriers, like tariffs and quotas. If no such agreement existed, then business owners who buy goods from another country would have to pay taxes on those goods to their country's government.
For the glass shop, since you have the bright vibrant glass colours you could have Gaude-E-E's, basically the opposite of Shade-E-E's where the build is absurdly bright and colourful possibly with a mix of the brighter metallic blocks to really push the gaudiness. Something else that you could work off of is a shop based around stained glass windows like ones found in a church, could also be home to the stone shop with a name something along the lines of stones and stains.
I love the amount of Etho & Gem interactions we’re having this season. The Canadians are bonding! Edit: I see a lot of people talking about shipping, and I want to say that was not my intention, I simply like their friendship.
All these years later and Etho is still taking me to school. Had no idea about the frog trick, that would have been really handy when making 2 froglight farms. That and my guy makes a no-redstone MIS, legend
that multi item storage is insanely simple. i was freaking out watching him put it together and slowly understanding how it works, i hope it actually ends up working in practice cuz i'd totally use that
i really dont see why it shouldnt...its just gonna be slow and carts might have to run through it all multiple times...so tempted to build it in my creative world to give it a once over
Have you watched Tango's recent stream? It's 3 hours of hanging out with Etho (and others, but he meets up with Etho 2 minutes into the stream and then they spend the next three hours getting distracted. It's an utter delight)
The Intro to the shulker trading with Doc, was so wholesome after all the videos around Doc we've seen lately (and I know it's all fun and games, but still)
Fwiw, I think the better structure for the glass shop will be a corporation: each Hermit who contributed a permit gets a share (including Etho for his original permit); Etho gets half the revenue for running the shop; the remaining half of revenue is the profit distributed evenly among shareholders. This simplifies the bookkeeping quite substantially and evens out the variance for each permit.
I can't wait for ShadE E's to make a return for Etho to sneakily sell stuff from Permits he don't have. I mean, he is not breaking any rules if he has a bone meal shop and for every purchase of a stack, the customer also gets [insert various items here]. The customer didn't pay for that, those were just free gifts that Etho gives to show appreciation to his customers!
I enjoyed the conversation with Beef and Doc so much. "Nouw" "Yay, Beefy." "We have no money." The blackmailing. The continuous deals if somebody else has another permit. Dissapointment. The trade agreement with Canada. So many jokes and bits.
Doc is really tough...to everyone but Etho. Honestly, almost everyone is soft on Etho and it's so sweet. EDIT: Guys I know WHY everyone is soft on Etho, I've watched him for like 10 years lol But yes, someone put it perfectly: Etho is the idol of idols in the MCYT world. I think it's really cool how much they all respect him and the other older mcyts.
Etho is like the idol of idols if that makes any sense. Most of the players audiences grew up watching etho and some people got into minecraft because of him. he has so many achievements made in minecraft history and some of his videos are just simply iconic to people who may not even watch him or even play minecraft anymore
They've been friends since the very early days of mc, they joined mindcrack together and then joined hermitcraft together. But Doc is really nice to everyone though, off camera 😅
I just. That WOOSH Etho tree outro. Is so perfect. I got incredibly nostalgic thinking about how many fun stories and endless hours of entertainment that has preceeded it over the years. And all the many places and activities ive been in or paused to sit and watch that outro. its incredible
I just love how Beef and Ethos kept doubling down on it, too. You can tell that they're all very mature and confident in their interactions. I love the dynamic
Glass shop: I'd like to see redstone that detects if a kind of glass has been purchased, collects the diamond, and queues up that kind of glass in the autocrafter to automatically restock: and I'd like the customer to be able to watch it all happen from behind glass :D
Fair to say my mind was blown by the simplicity of the hopper minecart water sorting. The entire time I was thinking about how items wouldn't get sorted if they were stuck in the hopper until you pointed out they would get pulled back into the cart on the next pass 🤯
I think all of us Minecraft veterans felt that energy. Having put in countless hours when the game was alot younger and lacking polish and quality of life improvements like potions, faster travel (boats and minecarts used to be peak), enchants, beacons, and the relatively new elytra and shulkers. I have mined out so many strip mines, terraforming projects, and mob farms with stone tools because iron was a rare an valuable resource. I now rush diamonds and enchanting for that fortune pick without remorse, i put in my time with stone tools, i want to enjoy my instamining. (And soon autocrafting)
Ive started playing modded minecraft for the first time, just a couple mods, main mod being Create. And omg the amount of tedious things i can skip now with it ajhhhhhhb its so good. I used to mine for DAYS to get materials i needed, in Create you just make a drilldozer and boom instant mineshafts 😂
With both the stone and lots of glass permits, I think there’s plenty of opportunities to play with “those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”. Like building the stone shop inside of the glass one where dispensers or bubble columns shoot out the stones inside the glass shop. Call it “Thrown Stones” or something like that.
Exploring other modes of transportation is what Mojang should've done for an update. When is the last time anyone used Minecarts for transporting themselves
Oh man! Etho's at 4:13, I feel that so strongly. I started playing waaaaay back in Beta 1.2 there were no beds, no enchanting, nothing. The amount of work done and time with just plain old iron tools, I've put in my time!
In my latest Minecraft world I found two cave spider spawners about 4 or 5 blocks apart diagonally. I've never done a cave spider xp farm before, but I think I'll try making one. I usually just make AFK string farms with them by pushing them into cactus with water.
I use my mouse the same way. I didn't even think about it until this this episode that it means I go left and right for up and down... while absolutely thinking people who invert controls are insane. I won't change.
For the shops. I like the idea Doc used for his shulker box dispenser. Sure frogs may have to have a natural accident but it would be cool. For the glass. You could make a machine for the unpopular colours. Press a button and get 2 stacks of glass. With a change of getting a stack of frog lights. Price 1 diamond a go. Feed Iskall’s risk versus reward strategy.
13:16 Etho, You where so good at using a shield in the first episode and now you don’t and dies theses unnecessary deaths! I’m you’re bothered by the shield blocking your view, then Xisuma’s a great texture packs with lowered shields and even transparent ones! You did say that skeletons are the ones that kills you the most, so carrying a shield helps a lot against those.
I actually do it kinda similar to Etho. After an extensive Diablo 4 gaming session my wrist started hurting (i am 40 years, getting old :p ) so what i did was putting my forearm on my desk, at maybe a 30-45 degree angle from the right desk corner. So the mouse is not exactly parallel to the keyboard. The keyboard itself is below the mouse (my PC desk has a board you can pull out). Now to make all that comfortable i am not sitting straight behind the desk, but almost parallel to it, with my feet resting on a stool beside my desk at the height of my seat. Oh year and my desk i also almost at shoulder level! No wrist issues anymore 😆
I'm 23, do not do this, but work as a massage therapist. If I had space for a desk I would change immediately in order to save myself from wrist strain. Plus I have an old wrist ligament injury that acts up sometimes. Protect your wrists people!
With all those glass permits it would be funny if Etho intercepted packages from the mail system and filled the empty spaces in shulkers with glass panes, free glass style. Advertising and packing material all in 1. It would be a funny evolution of season 7s free glass
"I have to mine for this stuff! What are you doing?" lol ... Don't forget andesite, granite, and diorite can be crafted. Auto crafter, stone farm, barter for quartz, etc. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Love your face. :)
I don't know if you're still reading comments, but in your glass shop you should put a chest for each glass to leave the profit for each respective hermit to come pick up whenever they'd like, because it might be quite a pain to have to keep count of all the 50% for each hermit and bring it to them individually. So when you collect your profits, you put half of it in the corresponding chest.
Just leaving this here, but during one of Tango's streams I caught the discussion on Horses and their wandering. I did some snooping and found that your hypothesis (The horses pause their pathfinding until you get off them.) Is 100% correct from what I could find. They pick a block to wander to and, if you ride them away from that spot, they will immediately try to continue to that block once you get off them. Sadly Mojang has closed the issue / not intending to do anything about it, but that is how they behave.
This is my favorite of Etho's mannerisms. Other UA-camrs yell in the middle of their sentence to scorn the mobs for interrupting them while Etho just ignores the mobs so you can focus on what he is doing.
Etho using his own mailing system to create a black market with bi-weekly/monthly sales completely anonymous would create a amazing storyline this season 👀 maybe also involve tango since he helped create the mailing system
I just started watching Ethos and its SO. NICE. to see a Minecraft youtuber who explains how the farms they're building work, and often giving extra information. For instance where magma cubes spawn! I probably wouldn't have even thought to look that up before looking for magma cubes. TY ETHOS! also your personality is great! :D keep up the good work friend!
He should add a obligatory "donation": in the glass shop, since the donation is not included in the 50% cut. Then you sell the glass at an extremely cheap price.
I think it would be hilarious if you didn’t actually set up a physical shop but committed fully to the “wandering trader” joke. You go around to random people’s bases with a random selection of your permit items, and convince people “buy now since you never know when it’ll be available again!” You could also do a thing where any item you don’t have on hand, they can still request to buy that item, but at a very highly inflated price, so you’re still following the “keeping up stock” rule, but in a fun trolly way :) Could also incorporate the mail system for “mail-order” packages that are cheaper and offer the full selection of items, but you can’t guarantee that they’ll make it in a timely manner (snail mail and all) Funny name could be something like “Maybe-E’s” cause maybe you’ll find something you want, maybe you won’t, who knows!
@@laurapalmer511 I genuinely think it would make for some hilarious shenanigans. It would also be really funny if he portrays the highly inflated “request price” as the normal price, and that he’s offering a “MAJOR DISCOUNT specialty directly from the wandering trader” where it’s just the normal price. Also it gives a good excuse to just visit people’s bases from time to time so it brings everyone together just that little bit more :)
I think a piston tape of coloured glass into a beacon (or a few) would look amazing as a "product showcase"! Coupled with froglights you could make a caleidoscopic vibe.
i love you etho, i’ve been watching you ever since i was a young kid now i’m 21 sometimes watching your red stone builds drunk. Never tried copying any of the monsterous builds you have but thanks for keeping me entertained over the years!

Don't forget when you get your cobble generator going for your stone shop, you can use cobble with quartz to craft diorite and then diorite and cobble to craft andesite.
@@The_Bliz Yeah really I don't think the recipe would exist today in Minecraft if a similar update was released. It's a throwback to the 1.8 update when I think the Devs were worried that players with existing worlds wouldn't be able to or wouldn't bother getting the new blocks, I guess because exploring took a lot longer with no elytra or quick form of travel. That must've been years ago. I reckon most players aren't aware of it as when you think about it those 3 stone blocks were added are now some of the oldest in the game (within reason.)
@@dariaemagan5812 Yeah it's an old quirky forgotten recipe. Diorite plus a quartz will get you a granite as well. I think Mojang has forgotten about the 1.8 stone block recipes as I don't believe you can craft any of the newer stone blocks in the same way.
Mouse position makes perfect sense, arm in a relaxed position with no added stress causing joint and ligament pain. I had to use this after years in IT left me with an RSI in my shoulder.
Etho describing his setup, thats basically how I play games as well. It not only helps reduce strain on wrists, but reduces strain on the elbows as well and works great for narrow desks that dont have a lot of room to the side.
For the glass shop, what about something like a huge magnifying glass made of the different colored glass blocks above the shop? When the sun passes overhead(calculated approximately using daylight sensors), the shop's floor would automatically switch into magma blocks and dispensers would set some unburnable blocks alight - so it'd be like the sun is focusing down and razing the shop and any customers within, ha! Maybe the unburnable block could be swapped with soul sand for blue fire when the moonlight focuses through the magnifying glass too!
If you guys liked the last bit of the video, I highly recommend Tango's livestreams. The VOD that had the mouse discussion was so incredibly entertaining.
Hey etho, I think a fun and interesting project that is very much your style would be an automatic colored glass delivery service. Once people set up their mailboxes, you could have a system where they send one of their own stamps, a renamed selection item (provided at your shop) and their diamonds. At your base, you could have smelters set up and glass waiting to be crafted into colored glass (or glass panes). Their stamp that they include with the order gets cycled and tells it where to go, the selection item tells you the type of glass to have auto crafted and the number of diamonds tells you how much glass they ordered. Then you could use a round robin system and the selection item to do a 50/50 split and even send off other hermit's diamonds to them when you fill a shulker to a set amount of diamonds. It would be a lot of work, but it strikes me as the kind of project you would enjoy doing. You would never have to worry about restocking a shop or overstocking any type of glass, only restocking your sand stockpile. You could even set up a noteblock indicator at your base to tell you when you need to go blow up a desert again :D
Shady E's has the best season to exist as an actual black market now. You could even charge absurd things you need (like a delivery of Alays or a fast horse) instead of regular prices
I had a bit of an odd idea for a Hermitcraft shop with the permits. Instead of having to make stacks and stacks of coloured glass/product, with the inclusion of autocrafters you could have a system set up where the customer selects a colour and a system then dyes the glass as it's needed. In fact you could even automate bonemealing of a dandelion/rose bush (for yellow/red since Etho has those colours), collect the flower, autocraft into dye, then combine with glass when the customer makes the purchase, so you don't even need a reservoir of those dyes before the purchase is made.
That would be incredibly slow… and having to supply flowers, dyes, sand, and bonemeal is a lot more work than smelting the sand and using bought dyes to craft it
42:37 Yeah, the US and Canada are a part of the CUSMA/USMCA/TMEC/whatever it's called in each specific country with Mexico too. Previously a very similar agreement was known as NAFTA. It doesn't cover everything, but it covers a lot. The US is not, however, a part of the Trans Pacific Partnership, while Canada, Mexico, and nine other countries around the Pacific are. The US was involved with potentially joining it, but following the 2016 election withdrew, and the TPP was somewhat changed into the CPTPP agreement in force today. This may have been what Doc meant.
The sorting system is very ingenious! I spent a few days trying to create an automatic stoneless item sorter but it way very difficult, this is a very good system!
Etho should bring back Shady E's as a black market
Is that only for him to sell stuff or for other people as well?

He could sell some stuff that lands in a gray area regarding the permits, like planks instead of logs or other things that don’t push the limits that far maybe
Sleezy E sounds better

Iskall’s extra 1% could be a piece of coal. Coal under high pressure turns into diamond, so every stack you sell, give him one coal
That would also be a very Etho way of doing it.
For every 100 diamonds Iskall gets 51, in other words, they're never going to sell enough purple glass for it to matter
I'll fax Ren.
That's a myth
it is astonishing how many people still believe that's how diamonds are made.

Hahaha such an Etho thing to do. We’re number 2 on the trending page though!
It's like the simple hopper clock that every other person refers to as the etho hopper clock. The man is an innovator without realizing it
And it has been possible the entire time since hopper minecarts have been in the game.
it's so good, and the froglight farm is also amazing. just the hot, cold, and warm biomes all in 1 location for the portal, saving so much time.

Etho bringing up the old trauma of pre-enchant tools.
I had forgotten how "unbreaking" used to mean only using the diamond tools for important stuff and sticking with stone tools for everything else.
Had to love the days dropping the tool to reset the durability, I sometimes miss the simplicity of early MC
We are about to return to those days with the villager nerfs- goodbye convenient trading hall 😭
Man nobody's talking about the brilliantly simple item sorter??? So slick. And you can have multiple hopper minecarts running through it simultaneous, so there's a constant train of hopper carts processing an input chest.
I really wanted to see it working, maybe in the future episodrs
doesnt the minecart pass over the hoppers beneath it before it can pick up the items above it though? what if it needs to bring items to the second chest in a column but said items have just been deposited in the hopper above and thus dont reach the correct place. im also questioning wether the minecart could move to fast giving the hopper not enough time to sort its items into the chest.. also if the first hopper gets filled up with junk the second hopper wont be a ble to unload its items in the chest even if its supposed to. honestly I think the system might be to simple for its own good.
You need to be sending empty minecraft hoppers through the system occasionally@@Otzkar

He was like, “Do not quote the deep magic to me, witch! I was there when it was written!”
Tilling the entire chocolate island is even crazier imo.
That's not quite true. Silk Touch was in the game when he did that. It was just very hard to obtain.
“Another lost package” and “They’re just like us!”
Straight hilarious
Etho just casually dropping the most genius sorting system for people who don't want to build these insane sorting systems out there.
And it looks so easy to set up in comparison, it made me tempted to go buy minecraft on switch to try it out lol
I think the best thing about that system is, I can build it.

how is no one talking about the low tech sorter?! It is 14 years ago Etho made his boat dispenser, and he is still doing it. Finding simple creative original solutions to specific problems.
Tango's despair at the Etho desk setup is the best part.
@@EthosLabYou can use bisection to find the bad mod in way less time in general :D

@@jasonreed7522 Yeah exactly. The squid farm is perfect. I feel like there was nothing in between emptying a lake and just farming squids manually.
This is why he's my favorite. He does this all the time

That's a really good idea to circumvent da rulez

Because etho is a part of causing the original boom of Minecraft. He gets mad respect from most mc creators. Doc was too and gets the same treatment.
Etho is like the idol of idols if that makes any sense. Most of the players audiences grew up watching etho and some people got into minecraft because of him. he has so many achievements made in minecraft history and some of his videos are just simply iconic to people who may not even watch him or even play minecraft anymore
There's a reason Etho can post videos and not have to "game" the algorithm. He edits how he wants and posts when he wants.

The man with the parallel mouse does not get to go throwing around “they’re just like us” NOBODY IS LIKE YOU
I actually do it kinda similar to Etho.
I alternate between the "standard" mouse orientation and the Etho orientation.

But that's taking quartz away from needy observers and comparators.
The allay happily scooping up the scattered ink pouches to pour onto Etho like a naughty puppy though xD How cute is that?!

They pick a block to wander to and, if you ride them away from that spot, they will immediately try to continue to that block once you get off them.
Sadly Mojang has closed the issue / not intending to do anything about it, but that is how they behave.
Wow.
Maybe Mojang closed it because they don't know how to fix it /s
12:24 etho casually explaining while the drowned is on fire lol
This is my favorite of Etho's mannerisms. Other UA-camrs yell in the middle of their sentence to scorn the mobs for interrupting them while Etho just ignores the mobs so you can focus on what he is doing.
he only killed the drowned to get into the boat xd
Etho using his own mailing system to create a black market with bi-weekly/monthly sales completely anonymous would create a amazing storyline this season 👀 maybe also involve tango since he helped create the mailing system
I just started watching Ethos and its SO. NICE. to see a Minecraft youtuber who explains how the farms they're building work, and often giving extra information. For instance where magma cubes spawn! I probably wouldn't have even thought to look that up before looking for magma cubes. TY ETHOS! also your personality is great! :D
keep up the good work friend!
The entire conversation with Beef and Doc at 38:38 😂
He should add a obligatory "donation": in the glass shop, since the donation is not included in the 50% cut. Then you sell the glass at an extremely cheap price.
Make them pay the service fee or a subscription program to get cheaper deals
gotcha game glass shop
Gacha?
@@themrpancake yeah sorry i rarely see the term in text form
cheap glass but you gotta pay to leave the shop lol
I think it would be hilarious if you didn’t actually set up a physical shop but committed fully to the “wandering trader” joke. You go around to random people’s bases with a random selection of your permit items, and convince people “buy now since you never know when it’ll be available again!”
You could also do a thing where any item you don’t have on hand, they can still request to buy that item, but at a very highly inflated price, so you’re still following the “keeping up stock” rule, but in a fun trolly way :)
Could also incorporate the mail system for “mail-order” packages that are cheaper and offer the full selection of items, but you can’t guarantee that they’ll make it in a timely manner (snail mail and all)
Funny name could be something like “Maybe-E’s” cause maybe you’ll find something you want, maybe you won’t, who knows!
I don't know how likely it would be because of the logistics involved but I am so fully in support, this would be hilarious
Yes, this.
He could even implement a system where the color of the beacon corresponds to a discount, making it more appealing for the hermit.
For the glass store, I'm imagining something like those mirror mazes, full of glass of different colours
i love you etho, i’ve been watching you ever since i was a young kid now i’m 21 sometimes watching your red stone builds drunk. Never tried copying any of the monsterous builds you have but thanks for keeping me entertained over the years!
53:40 As a left-handed person, here's the gist of it:
- English is written left to right. Thus, we lefties tend to smudge our writing. And smear ink/graphite all over the undersides of our hands.
- Bumping elbows with right-handed people.
- Scissors.
- Buttons on graphics tablets.
- Guitars. I had one once and had difficulty playing it because it was designed for the right-handed.
- Those terrible desks that are attached to the chairs.
I'm a left handed Arab, and we write right to left, i don't know how the righties do it
@@ladymcbethy2223 I've wondered a bit about how right-to-left languages affect right-handed writers.
@@garbagedataraccoon they don't hook their hand like we do, funnily enough I still do.
Being a lefty myself, I envy those who write right to left.
@@ladymcbethy2223you have to position the pen in your hand differently and angle the paper (so it’s like askew) all so it doesn’t smudge when you write 😭 pain
Well this was my favorite Etho episode in a while. super long, a bunch of progress, lots of interactions with other hermits, and yet it went by in a breeze. The pacing of these episodes are impeccable
Don't forget when you get your cobble generator going for your stone shop, you can use cobble with quartz to craft diorite and then diorite and cobble to craft andesite.
I was so confused when I heard Etho say "I have to mine for that!" about the andesite. Maybe he forgot about this recipe.
Most are aware but would rather use the quartz for other things so it slips the mind.@@Stefan8u
Wait is that really a thing?
@@dariaemagan5812 Yeah it's an old quirky forgotten recipe. Diorite plus a quartz will get you a granite as well. I think Mojang has forgotten about the 1.8 stone block recipes as I don't believe you can craft any of the newer stone blocks in the same way.
[38:46] Beef: "It's Coming! I already have a Design all set up and ready to go!"
10 months later - there's still no Shulker Shop.
40:24 that reproachful „whoat?“ 🤣🤣 like it‘s something abnormal to not have bunnies😂
Shady E's has the best season to exist as an actual black market now.
You could even charge absurd things you need (like a delivery of Alays or a fast horse) instead of regular prices
*quick correction, that was Sneak-E-E's
Shade-E-E's was the prank shop, though that too could totally come back!
I'm glad that I watched Tango's VOD before I saw all the random clips here. Definitely recommended for any Etho fans.
The sorting system is very ingenious! I spent a few days trying to create an automatic stoneless item sorter but it way very difficult, this is a very good system!
