@@digiblurDIY that camera is pretty good Problem it costs more than twice the price of reolink. Of course , it is double the resolution too. Maybe compare that with the cx810? I know the dahua has it beat but for the price I'm still wondering if it is a good option in a well lit night environment.
Just get an ir floodlight, after owning cameras with built in ir light and endlessly clearing the camera of cobwebs I disable the ir light (usually have to take them apart to unplug the light as no software switch on most) and use them Square ir floodlights
@digiblurDIY how does this PoE splitter works? you have another one at the NVR ports? Otherwise you have one cable, connected to a single port on the NVR, and up to 4 cameras connected on that cable.
@golllum26 this would go on the camera side. So if you had one cable ran across the house and wanted to add another and couldn't run a second cable to it easily, you just split the one as it has enough power and bandwidth to carry more.
I'm looking for a camera i can just set up insert an SD card hit record and record my gecko which is active at night. I don't have a wifi router, i don't need anything fancy like cloud storage just something thatll accept an sd card record for ten to 12 hours and review it later. Anything specific you can recommend?
What about Frigate? Which camera do you advise for this NVR having better quality image and compatibility? Perhaps some model with integrated speaker...
@@digiblurDIY ok, but i don't have already bought any camera yet. I want to use Frigate, so I want to know if there are models that you recommend, alongside the "official" recommendations about Dahua, Hikvision and Amcrest. Thank you.
Both of the night color ones look like you guys are very...ethereal or ghostly by only half materializing your bodies. Like I can only make out the torso and head. Anything below the waistline is cut off, including the hands as they hang below usually. CX410 Night color is a little better but it's so blurry. Idk, might be your backyard too. edit: the EmpireTech Color 4K-X looks better for your backyard compared against the Reolink CX410.
Yep, I'm really surprised any camera can see out there. I can't see across the yard by eye since it is dark. It is just a great test area given how dark it is below the fence line. The Empiretech camera is double the price and a larger sensor too, so I didn't include it in the main comparison but of course I wanted to know how it stacked up, it did pretty well considering the price difference.
Yes. There are several. Some are expensive yet super easy to setup. Some require a little bit of work but aren't expensive at all. Just depends on the balance you want.
I was pretty impressed with the older 5442 held its own against the newer camera, of course I had to compare it at the end for funsies against the IPC-Color4K-T to see. Nice to see a new 5442 lineup coming, great cameras.
What about the most important thing about a low light security cam - is it able to detect humans sneaking around your house in the dark and alert you quickly? How far away does it detect? How reliably? Without knowing that, it’s just a device that takes video footage 24/7 to look at afterwards, if you are still alive to do so
Well, despite a well-known web camera security website, with extreme opinionated opinions that no one is allowed to challenge the admin, the threads there, saying it was the to blame, and was the battle cry. The key frame wasn't an issue with Blue Iris. You couldn't change it, so that was blamed. It was the goofy RTSP implementation. I believe Reolink has sorted it out. I don't think as urban legend has it they were trying to keep to themselves, as a retired systems engineer, one may code A out of specs simply for not truly understanding them correctly, then code item B to your misunderstanding, and guess what? A talks to B, just fine. Your camera works with your NVR. With Reolink letting you now have some control over I frame intervals, you can set it with a Key = 1, setting this and the frame rates to exactly the same on the main channel and the sub, you can use Blue Iris's ability to watch for movement on the lower resolution sub channel but record from that higher resolution Main channel. The reduction in CPU is sweet. The CX410 is nice because as you say, got street lighting, this camera shines in that environment. Not having Infrared lighting, no spiders, which triggers my Hikvision cameras all night long. Being able to just stick an SD card in it, no subscription, stand alone, well that is sweet too. So, I would give a CX410 a try with the latest firmware, with Blue Iris. I can't tell you how my Hikvision cameras have failed to pick up a clear face just 20 feet away in that Infrared format of the little car checking at 3 AM in the driveway. Some readers may not understand the CX410 uses visible light, you have several options with it, but in total darkness your house sneaker can't fail to notice it. Can this cam recognise car plates at night while car is moving with lights on?
If they are close enough it probably could and had enough light to allow it to adjust and see the plate.
Are you able to test it?@@digiblurDIY

Daytime footage is really rwally good, reolink's issue was night time. The cx410 and cx810 are an improvement on this.

One issue we have with security cameras is attracting bugs so that they obscure the night vision.
