I have owned one of these for 7 years. For the first 4 years I only put about 20 hours on it because it was in the shop so much. Each mechanic I took it to refused to work on it a second time. Customer service is horrible and they refused to pay the bills for the warranty work. The deck suspension system is made of cables which only last 1 season. The hydrostatic transmission on the left side is not working now. There is no fluid reservoir for the transmissions. Mower cuts grass nicely when it is working but that is pretty rare. Home Depot should be ashamed of offering these machines either in store or online.
Totally agree with the junk part. Bought mine new at home depot 3yrs ago and nothing but trouble. The worst part is ZTE who makes these, sucks worse the the mower. They will not stand by their warranty and have absolutely zero integrity. I love HD service and try my best to get them to cut ties wit ZTE
These machines do not use combined HST and axle complete units such as Hydrogear or Tuff Torq but use Peerless hydros linked by belt drive to seperate axles. Just because you are not familiar with this drive train does not mean it is junk. In fact if the hydros fail it is easier to replace as the axles remain attached to the chassis. I would agree however that the belt may be a point of failure but if the machines are well maintained the belt should last a considerable time in the same way car belts are reliable. I have one of these machines and it works well once you understand it. Is it as good as a Scag or Hustler no it is not but for less than half the price it compares well to the lower end residential machines. If you are not a mechanic or prepared to maintain or repair your machines and require local dealership support then this might not be the machine for you. All I can say is my machine serves me well and is not complicated.
Robert /I am glad your machine performs to your satisfaction. But I have just seen to much in lack of quality to be sold on z beast . Still I can respect your opinion .....So to each /there own .
Steer clear of Beast! Junk mowers! Unhappy owner of one of these POS! Finally got it going kind of straight now the center blade bolt sheared off and i lost the blade. Beast is JUNK! Hit me up and I can tell you all about my 2 year BEAST $4k nightmare!
as a mechanic as a shop ive dealt with 2 of those. both fried trans. both fried keyswitches that are not findable. super stupid parking brake. super cheap blade engagement. the trans setup is completely ridiculous. id be really mad if i had to actually do work to them lol. the pumps are way underpowered for these mowers is the issue. the motor is the only thing worth more than 100 dollars just because they are not gxi
45 hrs still like new , pump went out ,replaced with new one ,, now soon as you turn the key the belt flys off ,, ive checked everything a dozen times ,, thank God i have a husqvarna to mow with ..pulled this junk to the side ,may work on it this winter ,may part it out ,,, i can use the motor on something i have here ..
Thanks for your insight on this mower. I’ve been trying to reconcile the reviews I see on different sites. It is very well regarded on Home Depot but trashed elsewhere. Seems sketchy.
Regardless of whether this actually IS crap quality or not, I didn't hear much beyond "the owner broke it, and cut the wire harness" to explain why it's "crap".
Did you not see how close the trans was to the ground ? And how seriously cheap its put together ....All red flags friend ...These zero turns are sold completely by hype .....They leave a lot to be desired .
@@midcoasttractorservice9182 I have the 50 inch which is 100kg lighter than the 62 inch and mine works fine and had no trouble with it after 90 hours. The seating position is high compared to others and although gives great visibility it does emphasize the movement of the mower more but still acceptable. It is not an easy machine to work on and is radically different from the run of the mill MTD factory machines with Hydrogear axles. Having said that, most of the machine has strong components where you need them and simple in design for the most part. The seperate hydro belt drive to axles is unusual but keeps the hydro simple and cheaper to replace. I work on farm machinery and most of the components are fairly standard stuff with rods and pins connecting everything.
It looks like the home owner beats the shit out of his mower! 🤣😂🤣. I am a small engine mechanic myself up in Michigan and I can completely relate to dealing with home owner fixes!🤣😂🤣. About 80% of my work is cleaning carbs because no one wants to pay for ethanol free recreational fuel until I clean their carbs at least 3-4 times. 😂.
So you say it's junk but the only thing I heard you say you didn't like about it was the oil leakage in your previous video. I don't care what someone did to that one. I want to know what makes it not a great zero-turn.
The "self contained" whell drive went out on mine the first year and ZTE did not stand by the warranty. It cost about 800$ and they are the only ones to sell it. Believe me you don't want to deal with these CROOKS.

I have that engine on turf beast 54” for bit over 550hrs on it…. Engine is reliable, just as good as Kawasaki FD…. Much better than Briggs and Stratton (non vanguard) however mower does have drawback tho
Ken is a great friend and I would gladly do so if I find the free time . I currently have 3 chainsaws to attend to after work for a family friend whom cuts wood for a local wood program that provides wood to low income families for heating .
