It seems that the handles could be brought together as one rather than kept as two separate handles, and the exercise would be the same, but it would be easier on the hand rather than trying to keep the two handles together. But the tension created with the one-hand pushup and the other arm extending is absolutely great. The comment made about the shoulder issue is valid BUT if this exercise is done slowly with great core stability, then the shoulders get a good workout without the risk of tearing (IMHO)

Ive heard that chest flys of any sort are bad for the shoulders.
Also they are completely unnecessary. Why? Your elbow does not get any lower in a fly than a regular bench press or dumbell press. And after all, its the lowering (or raising in your case) the elbow that causes the chest to stretch. You do not, get any increased chest stretch doing flys.
All you are doing in a fly is adding stress to the shoulder joint. (shoulder capsule and ac joint) Not to mention, you may get a possible torn peck.
I stopped doing flies over a year ago and my shoulders feel much better. If you want the adduction or abduction you get from a fly, do something else. Do a 3d cable crossover... Its safer!
