I watched this unfold "live" and it brought tears to my eyes. Watched it again today in 2020 and it still had the same affect. Such a sweet ending to this story.

I remember this like it was yesterday. The suspense was almost more than we could all bear. I remember hearing the boom truck arrive and voices on the ground. After a bit, that red & silver cable snaked around the trunk of the tree and then there was our angel, Jim. He was so tender and careful with Harmon. (I said that guy probably got a million marriage proposals after this 😁) We all held our breath for two days awaiting his return to the nest. Many fish and hissy fits later, Harmon thrived and fledged as nature intended. ❤️❤️❤️

This was the eaglet named Harmon. He was from the MNBound nest. There are videos of his successful treatment and return to the nest 2 days later, and his reunion with his parents. This was a success story. He fledged.

i think it is great that the guy feels comfortable enough to sit on the nest trusting in the workbirdship of the eagles. great job. so sad the other baby died afterwards.

This poor baby was traumatized I didn’t no the back story about the sibling being so mean to him I’m just happy I didn’t witness it so the sibling fell out of the nest 😦he looks like he’s going into shock he’s breathing was Tachypnea I really doubt this Little gift from above wouldn’t of lasted through the night “then again I’m in no way an expert I’m still learning about these birds” I’m just so happy and proud of these volunteers that took their time to go up to the nest do a check on it I believe they made the right decision, taking him to rehabilitate then placing it back with its parents this is such a beautiful site these guys are Angels they really are I wish there were people in this world like these fellas god bless them Thank you so much ❤️❤️😇💯🇺🇸‼️it seems like the wounds on the baby eaglet were most likely caused by that sibling they said he may have gotten those wounds from moving around being stuck n he got pocked by the branches n sticks “I don’t believe that I think those sounds cane from that sibling going after his back side poor fella had maggots all over it’s Himy just all over it 🙈

I first saw Harmon's Rescue and more videos 2 years ago. Saw the fledge too. I was and still am in love with Harmon. He would be 7 years old now. If he came home to build his own nest would he be recognized? Any markings? I would love to see him again. I thank the rescuers for helping him. He is special. As for his sister she was evil to him. Most eaglets I have seen on cam become close. There was plenty of of food. Good parents usually stop aggressive behavior and make sure both babies are fed even feeding in tandem where both are fed at the same time.

I never knew that there were Eagles living, nesting,, having and raising kids, flying around in Minnesota ? I incorrectly assumed that they were only up in northern Minnesota and/or for sure Canada....but I found out how wrong that I was when my daughter and I went for walks on warm summer days around Lake Earl in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and on one of our walks we came across a park bench, and we sat down to take a break and overlooking Lake Earl and looking toward the far side of the lake we saw these huge birds of some sort flying high up in the air above the far end of the lake. We shared this information with Pat, a worker at Lake Earl, and she thankfully informed my daughter and myself, " Oh, those big birds that you saw flying above Lake Earl are Bald Eagles, that nest and live around Lake Earl....WOW !

his feet were ok- he is Harmon, and you can see many videos of him here. This happened in 2012,where thousands of people watched the Minnesota Eagle bound parents have their first hatch with Kirby, who fell out of the nest, and Harmon, who was taken from the nest for a few days, then returned to the nest, where his parents raised him the rest of the way until he fledged and flew off. You can see the 2013 eaglets, Harmony and Peace, at the same link listed above.

Harmon was the ultimate underdog. A designated pre-selected by birth order sacrifice to the Gods of Darwinism and pre-determination. From nearly day one he was pecked at, then charged and knocked over then hit hard and beaked by his older sister. During chow, these attacks and beatings increased, often leaving him unfed and hungry. Soon, he suffered a one-in-a-million disaster and became stuck to the nest floor, unable to free himself. His injury forced him to deal with pain and suffering while still trying to fend off the attacks from his sibling, who now saw him as both a toy piñata and easy target. Yet, while he was stuck to the nest, hardly able to move, his energy fading and his life now in a certain death spiral he caught a couple of breaks. First, his sibling from hell got smacked over the snout by Bird Karma. In an attempt to grab even more food it overshot the runway and went out of the nest. Hanging onto the sticks outside, Evil Sis stayed in place for several minutes. Probably in a position to slide up and out of its jam, and to its Mom and safety, the greedy bird took one final lunge at some food proffered by the Adult Bird, missed it and then slowly lost its footing and fell 75 feet. To its end. Ironically, our hero, stuck to the nest and dying, had a ringside seat for the whole event, watching in muted tone as the 'Sibling from Hell' got hers. He showed no reaction, rejecting food once again. His Mom then flew off to search for remains. Reason Number Two was his rescue soon thereafter by the MN Bird People. Always good people from Minnesota, especially ones who care about birds in the wild. Taken down from its soon to be death bed, the young eaglet male was rushed to medical care nearby. After a couple of days of treatment and probably his first meal without someone pecking at his head he was ready to return to the fold. After a night alone his 'probably' freaked out parents saw our hero back in the nest. With some food in it to boot. I don't know how Eagles think, but you have to believe they were flabbergasted at the sight of their last egg to bird sitting there alive and sort of kicking. They looked at him, then each other, and probably said 'that is one magic bird. The rest is history. Today, who knows where Harmon is flying around or what he's up to. He's probably a full grown 5-year old. Maybe he'll pop up again. Given his karma and 'magic' life I wouldn't bet against it.

How do we go abput getting involved in something like this. Im from michigan, but honestly this has opened my eyes to nature a lot more. Id like to set something like this up here, for the children to see and parents. This is beyond neat stuff. Any help with a nudge in the right direction is appreciated. Should I go to one of our state parks and talk to the wildlife officers there? I think im going to do that sometime next week.

      hi hello john
just read this ~ hope you were able to find a way to help & get involved ~ 2 other good eagle cams i watch are ' SWFL eagle cam ' & ' NEFL eagle cam ' [ SWFL = south west florida & NEFL = north east florida ] ~ the one chick eaglet in the NE nest seems to be about 1 month old ~ the same as this little eaglet ~
there are 2 eaglets [ E17 & E18 ] in the SW nest & they were born jan 23 ~ one week after hatching their eyes got infected & one couldnt see to eat so the local wild life clinic CROW [ Clinic for Rehabilitation of Wildlife ] retrieved the 2 babys ~ they were a week at the clinic then returned to their nest & mom [ harriet ] & dad [ M15 ] wondered where the kids went & then wondered how they returned ~ very good videos of the whole adventure ~
if you are interested in checking these & other bird nests go to the youtube channel called Lady Hawk ~ she also has a baby albatross chick being watched in new zealand ~ click on her Playlists & you will see that she is also covering nests of osprey / condors / peregrine falcons / owls / kestrels / hawk / albatross
another interesting siteis the Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah ~ Martin Tyner takes one thru getting or recieving injured raptors ~ he officially does falconry & has a blindish peregrine falcon named Helen , a hawk named Belle & a beautiful golden eagle named Scout ~ so he does the storys on the different raptor birds being rehabilitated plus he has videos of taking Scout or Belle to lectures or out doing falconry ~ tres interesting
