    Sled work gets my heart rate going CRAZY. My mind was blown the first time I ever did a sled work out, and just pushing the sled 4 times back and forth had me about to pass out lol. And I ran track and cross country in high school and thought I had good “endurance” because I could run 8 miles and I raced in the 1 mile. But I had never trained endurance before with the STRENGTH aspect added to it.
    Man, exercises that combine strength and cardio are a whole different beast. Way harder than steady state running for me personally.

    Just discovered the sled push as not all my gyms have it. My new favourite exercise. I prefer lower weight and longer distance. The overall stress on the body is as intense as I have ever felt, feels like i'm going to die. I love it.

    Pushing/pulling a sled is both cardiovascular and strength training. It’s all in how you do it and for how long.

    I've been dealing with a nasty proximal hamstring strain, and sled pushes have been great for both rehab and conditioning.
    At the end of every full body lifting session 3x per week, I do three rounds. The turf at my gym is 25 yards. So I go down, back, down, and back for 100 yards total. Then I rest two min and go again, etc.. It definitely gets me a bit winded, which I like as a finisher. Plus, my proximal strain is healing faster because of it.

    Mine is sled push with burpess, to stimulate takedowns, I normally add 100 to 125 kg to short to medium distance. Very practical tool. Since functional strength is requires you to lift, lower, push, pull, throw and Catch Odd objects.

      The short answer, the conditioning sled does cardio but is also a full body workout. Running, while it does works your legs, it doesn't build that much strength for the amount of time you spend doing it. You do, however, build endurance and get better at running. Do the sled, skip the running. Your joints will thanks you as you get older.

    Hey guys here's a topic idea. Whenever I try to bulk I have noo problem eating enough protein and calories but I always put on waay too much fat. I think its because I'm not eating the "right" calories. I find I'm always snacking and eating garbage in an effort to get my cals up. Sometimes it can be chips and stuff. I'd love a video on the best foods to bulk with. And what happens if you bulk on too much snack foods? Thanks!

      surplus/deficit. count calories. try to keep biggest meal for after training.i do this way,i feel very hungry after workout and i eat good twice - after workout and before sleep but total calories are matching my spending for day and i maintain same weight.if i wanted to lose weight i would eat bit less and thats it.

    1:22 Not just strength homie, but speed training also, It can be like Anaerobic sprinting, where your metabolism gets faster, and your speed at sprinting events increases, you still definitely get cardio benefits of doing heavy 10-20 yard sled pushes.

    15kgs only
    But do it for 12 x 3 minute rounds ?

    I still wonder about the best way to perform general conditioning while maintaining muscle (as a soccer player). I'm partial to weighted movements like the sled, kettlebell, battle ropes, bands, weights, etc. My issues is: I know the mind pump guys hate circuit training and CrossFit, so what specifically should we do? Maybe I'm just dumb, but I'm not seeing the distinction

    • @user-sk9hl7si7l
      @user-sk9hl7si7l 2 роки тому

      imo for soccer crossfit is good ,your body become stronger in all aspects,explosiveness,speed,acceleration,mental fortitude. on my powerlifting routine i rarely burnout as everything slow and steady,soccer is more dynamic and for prolonged periods of time. in my head if you have extra muscle power due to lightly-weighted training,your muscles will maintain higher capacity compared if you just did it old school without weights.

      @@user-sk9hl7si7l That's not really how it works. If you need more cardiovascular endurance for soccer you do more cardio exercises. Training high volume and light weight is what body builders do. Body builders, though muscular, are slow and have poor endurance because they are heavy. Powerlifting is fine, but you might want to decrease the volume so you have more energy for cardio. More specifically, so you don't beat up your joints.
      Crossfit borrows and lot from Olympic weightlifting, but the Olympic lifts are the most skilled lifts and require the most specific training. Implementing them in circuit training is asking for injuries unless you keep the intensity too light to accomplish anything. That's often what they do. They take an explosive lift like the snatch and do it for reps for cardio, which defeats the purpose of the snatch which is suppose to develop quick twitch muscle fibers. It's like using the 100 meter dash to build endurance. You can do 50 100-meter dashes in a training session, but you can't run them all at full speed. Might as well be doing cross country instead of sprint training.

      Any weight is not optimal for cardio training vs pure cardio like running. That doesn’t mean weight training based cardio doesn’t make you fit, it’s just inferior to pure card cardio like running as the cardiovascular adaptations are a bit different as the blood flow is a bit different.

    So, if I do 350+ on a sled for 200' per set and 3 sets per exercise, then what's that?

    • @natestotts5388
      @natestotts5388 Рік тому

      It completely depends on what heart rate you end up at. 200 yards with a lot of weight is a strange middle ground where I think you're just inducing fatigue. The question would be, what are you trying to condition for? For example, I do a sled drag for 30 minutes (distance is irrelevant) at a heart rate of around 65-70% because I'm working zone 2 cardio for recovery from sports / resistrance training, build endurance, and choosing that implement to improve knee health and vastus medialis. On the other hand, I will push a sled with all the plates 20 yards, which zone 5 heart rate (anaerobic) and is just a form of HIIT and the form and distance improves sprinting speed without the eccentric component of sprinting and is easier to recover from. 200', I'm not even sure what that would help prepare you for. Maybe hiking up large inclines, but a stairmaster would probably work better for that.

      You can claim the promise if you meet the condition. Not everyone that says Lord Lord makes it into God's kingdom, only those that love and obey him. Those that follow the word of God to the best of their ability. We all fall short but upon genuine repentance we can claim the promise of everlasting life.
