    Duffle bag (from Goodwill), tow strap (from Tractor Supply), 100 lbs of sand. I did this during the lock downs when I couldn't get to my gym, it worked for pulls with a total investment of 12 dollars.

    I like to keep an arms locked/head down position to work my overhead stability / while maintaining core & leg drive at same time.

    • @Frankthegb
      @Frankthegb 2 роки тому

      NEVER do it head down. You're going to screw up your neck. You want a straight line all the way down your spine so your back and shoulders properly absorb the counter-force.

      @@Frankthegb If you are low and arms are locked head down would be keeping your neck neutral. If you look up it would be like looking up while doing bent over rows. Can you explain more what you mean?

      You can accomplish that by doing overhead barbell squats instead. Also snatches, clean and jerk, or simply walking with kettlebells held overhead. I would not push a sled with my head down.

    Curious why you wouldn’t use the full foot when pushing with the sled (I.e. going heal to toe) to engage the posterior chain more & hinge at the hips easier for your forward drive?
    Seems like when I do it this way I get better recruitment through the entirety of my legs on quads, calves, ankles, feet, hips & glutes.

    • @timf8650
      @timf8650 2 роки тому +7

      Heel first causes you to essentially put on the breaks each step. Sprinters drive off the ball of the foot because it's the most efficient for high force transfer, same thing for the sled

    With the sledge drag is the aim to build up the weight and go slow or go moderate on the weight and go moderate speed to get sweaty? Primarily I do this for knee rehab to get blood into the knees.

    You should seriously never be driving with bent arms unless you can lock your shoulders right against the sled. You're going to do serious damage to your elbows in the long run.

      Many strength athletes have been doing this for decades. The fact that many gyms caught on and now have sleds has made it more accessible. Sure KOT guy has highlighted the benefits and is further increasing the popularity of these, which is great and hopefully sleds will become more widespread as a result. The important contribution of KOT guy for me has been the emphasis on backwards pulling for knee resilience

  • @lockani
    @lockani 2 роки тому +6

    How important is the harness? Does pulling from the handles have the same benefits, is there anything else to keep in mind besides keeping the core braced when pulling from the handle?

    • @ShirtsAreRare
      @ShirtsAreRare Рік тому

      It will be impossible to pull from the handles because the sled will run into your feet. I use one of those belts for weighted exercises and you can get those for very cheep ($20 or so). Plus they're multi purpose so a good tool to have anyway. I actually got mine for weighted pullups and dips before I knew of this exercise. Your gym should probably have any type of strap. If not I can't imagine that being too expensive either.

    • @lockani

      @@ShirtsAreRare I don't have any problem pulling from the handles but my gym has the classic kind of sled without wheels. Now that you mention it it looks like he's using the kind of belt you're talking about

    Ok, what is up with the toe dragging on the fake grass/carpet. That seems like a very strange almost handicapped sort of thing to do. It seems to be mostly on the left leg. Is that on purpose?

    Sorry my dude. I know you catch a lot of flak. But you're really swinging a miss here with that pushing upright posture. You never loaded a sled heavy enough if you think that's gonna fly. That upright posture is only going to work up to a point. You helped Licis. Go talk to him.

    • @LockOn95
      @LockOn95 2 роки тому +10

      The point is if you can’t have upright posture you aren’t ready for heavier weight. This isn’t a swing and a miss, they’re incorporating proper posture with an exercise like any other.

    • @kingbrownie207
      @kingbrownie207 2 роки тому +1

      @@LockOn95 you missed the point. Being lower is proper posture for a heavy sled push. Draw yourself a freebody diagram and it will become obvious. For the type of pull Aaron was doing, I won't comment because I've never seen it, but often you're also holding a rope infront of you, so you should also be low when doing that.
