Fun fact: the actor tasked with “killing Daisy” is a huge dog lover and was so upset the day they shot him swinging at her that he walked around all day holding her and loving on her.
If the devil can take the form of an angel then an angel can pretend to be the devil.
Fan fact: 1st John Wick didnt make it into big cinemas because it was considered low budget movie (20-30mil)
That’s weird because it made it to our movie theater back when it released and ours is a big cinema
It was an indie film. It became a sleeper hit
@@themontypython7316 I meant world-wide. Im from midle Europe, live in main capitol, goes to cinema pritty commonly and didnt knew John Wich existed untill I saw posters for 2nd one. Apperently it was considered here as "film" not "movie" so it wasnt in big cinemas until 1 month before Capter 2.
makes sense, but no one can deny the complete series is a pure masterpiece.
It was in American theaters. Wasn’t like a multi screen movie, like now, but it was there
I remember an interview Keanu did and he was asked if John Wick was overkill.
Keanu said No, John is only after one guy everyone else is just getting in his way
When John asked the bouncer if he lost weight and he answered " Over 60 pounds " he was informing him of how much security was inside. Just a random tidbit.
That’s an awesome detail
@@SortaStupid The problem is the translation to subtitles, in Russian he says over 28 Kilos (note the trivia says he kills 28 people, probably meaning guards plus VIPs) but I feel like the people subbing it didn't understand the significance of the line and translated it to pounds on principle. The fact he gave him a tip-off on how many are inside still stands though, I guess 60 might have just sounded more impressive if translation did know?
@@BrokenToews even funnier, he says 20 kilos in Russian, not 28.
That stylized in-movie subtitles actually surprisingly inaccurate
While I think it was intended to be a hint for John, all the information on the hint is completely wrong.
The bouncer, Francis, is played by WWE Superstar Kevin Nash.
Rest in peace to Lance Reddick, he was an incredible actor, and Keanu and the cast and crew all talked about how wonderful he was to work with and wore blue ribbons for the premiere of of the fourth movie in remembrance
Ruff's Stand: Freeze Frame
At a point before a critical event happens, time will freeze and the stand user will be given insight into the upcoming occurrence.
the laboon brook one piece moment comes to mind
dude is a pro!
That would be a pretty OP Stand tbh. I think. Idk I don't watch JoJo's.
@@MandatoryFruit it would be pretty useful but standard series-wise
One thing I love about this movie is that John is a believer in the double tap. He doesn't just shoot people in the torso and then just leaves them to potentially still be able to shoot him while on the ground, especially because he knows that they are probably wearing body armor. So he shoots center mass to stagger then makes sure to pop the head to make sure they are dead. Same with the guy he chokes out on the floor. He isn't gonna take the chance that the guy is faking being knocked out, so he snaps the neck too to make sure. Just pure cold efficiency.
Honestly my favorite line from this movie is when at the end Winston says "Ms Perkins, your membership to the Continental has been by thine own hand revoked" right before she gets shot
I don't know why, it gives me chills😅
Very cold and nonchalant, right before a brutal and quick execution. The juxtaposition of such a casual line out of context right next to a person's life being snuffed out and then cleaned up as if nothing of consequence happened...yeah, pretty chilling stuff.
Fun fact: when jhon get's the second dog near the end of the movie, in the paiper it said something along the lines of "scheduled to be put down", so jhon saved him
Oh that’s an amazing detail! Thanks for telling us 🙏
Oh no, it's Jhon Wcik
@@waybright_ I was expecting this kind of comment, main, i wrote down this when i was very tired and i now don't wanna edit it cause it got a heart lol, plus im not advanced in english, since it's my second language
My favorite line HAS to be when Viggo telling his son John Wick is who you sent to KILL the f*kng boogeyman... just the chills i get hearing that line... SHOOO
The original script the director wanted to keep daisy alive because he didn't want to alienate dog owners as an audience but he decided to kill her because it made John's character more relatable and people would be more invested in the movie because they can relate
RIP Daisy 😢 In such a short amount of time, I immediately loved that beagle
And Lance Reddick, don't forget about him.
You never mess with Daisy... if it's a dog or a rabbit and you missed with her... you are dead.
The funniest part of when Jimmy shows up at the start... watch Jimmy's left hand slowly move away from the holster as they finish chatting. 🤣
Something I love about the club scene is the cinematography. The sons camera is hectic and jerkinf around all over the place while John's is focused and smooth
He gave him the cheap vodka so it will burn on its way down, then when he punched him it would burn on its way back up.
Then he went back to the counter and served himself the good stuff that doesn't burn.
Marcus has really good writing that very few people pick up on. He asks if it's an open contract to determine who else will be going after John, and then just ambiguously says "Consider it done", instead of saying "I'll accept the contract", so he can look out for him.
The John Wick franchise is one of the most amazing franchises of all time period, and i cant wait to see your reactions. I recently watched Chapter 4 in theatres and it was one of the most amazing movies i have seen in my entire life that will stay with me forever.
Me & my wife just binged all 3 last month in preparation for the 4th one but damn, we died of laughter when the mob boss just said “Oh” after hearing who his son had stolen from.
The John Wick series is amazing. I got interested in it when I heard it was about a man out for revenge for his car stolen and dog killed. The director used to be Keanu’s stunt man in “The Matrix”. Keanu did the majority of his action scenes and only used stuntmen when it was so dangerous even a seasoned stuntman would get hurt. It always made me wonder why the wife didn’t make sure to have food delivered with the dog. The Red Circle fight scene Keanu had the flu bad with around 103 degree fever but still nailed the shot. Keanu really values his stunt-doubles. He buys them wrap gifts. Like one John Wick movie he got them motorcycles and the latest one he got all 5 of them submariner watches engraved saying John Wick 5 the stuntman’s name and date. Iosef couldn’t just steal John’s car cause of the way that John acted at the gas station. Iosef felt disrespected so he was going to make sure he learned a lesson not knowing who John was. I love how Viggo says “oh”. It’s like he read a multipage letter. I like the Marilyn Manson song they put in and I’m not a big Manson fan. It really fits with what Marcus does.
when the dad says "MY SON WOULD BE STILL ALIVE"
this was a triumph. I'm making a note here, "huge success"
John Wick can literally kill anybody with anything. The first one was a lot of gun play and emotional ride. The rest is just pure creativity and showcasing how versatile the boogeyman actually is. Also the Lore of the assassin world is insane
RIP Lance Reddick. He was such a great part of this franchise, among the many other roles he has played. He will definitely be missed.
41:23 He actually saw the future when he said John Wick in Paris lol
Keanu did an interview where he was asked if John over reacted killing so many for 1 dog and Keanu said no. He was only after one guy there were just so many people in the way.
Look at Francis smart enough to get out of his way
In the original script, Wick is between 60 to 70 years old. OF course, Keanu is timeless.
The genius of this movie is that you don't even realize when you're watching it how much lore and world-building they're giving you for them to build on in the sequels. It like nothing but action but there's a lot of expert story-telling going on in the background that you're taking in but not processing until it comes back up in later movies. My personal favorite is the second one. It has the most tension to me because the antagonist is actually a legitimate rival for John.
This franchise is such a blast! Saw the 4th Movie, and now going back to the First, it really blows my mind how everything started all over a Dog.
"Don't mess with Animals: The Movie" 😆
"It's from his wife? Oh my god, that makes me sooo emotional..."
Man, you have got NO CLUE what's coming to get you! ;-)
All the 4 movies are masterpieces
True
The first one is still the most grounded by far. John wick is a superhero in the later ones lol.
@@dusky5535 Most people disagree with me on this, but 1 and 2 are my favourite John Wick movies. Just because the later ones became kinda gimmicky and tacky in my opinion. Still great and entertaining though
@@theorjan1 It's definitely not a popular take but I agree yeh. I just like how grounded the first one is.
@@dusky5535 I’m guessing you love Equalizer 1&2 with Denzel Washington?
Fun fact: When John asked the bouncer about losing weight and he answered with "over sixty pounds" he wasn't actually talking about his weight, he was telling john how many men were in the building, which is also why john let him go.
I read in an interview that Daisy the dog was not originally supposed to die, but Keanu thought that Daisy had to be killed in that scene for John to be motivated to KILL EVERYBODY!!!!!!
As sad as it is, it makes sense. Daisy was that last flicker of the hope and love his wife left behind - the same woman whose love pulled John out of the life to start. It only makes sense that that little light had to be snuffed out for John to fall back into that dark place he was freed from and be who he was before, even just for one last dipshit who needed to learn a lesson.
If anything, John taking in another dog at the end is a subtle sign of character growth. Instead of falling fully into that darkness, turns out his wife did instill that bit of hope deep into him - he didn't lose it all when Daisy was killed even when it really seemed like Daisy was the one tether to that happy life he had left, and he was able to find it in himself to save a life and bring another thing to love and care for into his life even after falling back into being Baba Yaga.
You guys should definitely check out Nobody if you haven't seen it. It's such a good movie and Bob Odenkirk has said the training and exercise he did for the movie probably saved his life after his stroke on the set of Better Call Saul's 6th Season
Fun fact the director put bacon grease on keeanu's face to make the puppy Andy a boy plays daisy lick his face they also did it with Cha Cha the pitbull in the third movies but they used peanut butter for her. The pitbull is played by two different pitties Burton a boy plays dog in chapter 2 and Cha Cha sweet girl plays dog in chapter 3. Haha no nothing happens to dog he's safe john doesn't take him into any danger though can't wait for you guys to see chapter 2 and 3 both are awesome and have a lot more action sequences and awesome fight scenes more brutal death scenes
Had to cut off patreon support for now but love you guys!
Totally understand, thanks for the support here on UA-cam 🙏
6:50 This scene is 100% necessary to sell Keanu as the good guy for the rest of the movie. 🙏🏽
I remember a creator commentary where they were worried because killing a dog is considered a movie curse. They were a bit surprised when that set up, in most audiences' minds, gave John basically a free pass for anything he does in the movie to get the guy who killed the dog lol.
@@joshwillingham4592 Never fuck with a man’s dog. Steal his car and smash his house up, but if you kill his dog, your entire bloodline will feel the rage of someone with nothing left to lose lmao.
I think this and the 4th movie are the best ones. John Wick 4 is the most epic movie ever…
One of the BEST action movies EVER!
No dispute.
The guy you said was giving him a hard time and the one who stabbed him with the bottle and threw him off the balcony. Which is the same person he fights in the church after vigo left. The director said that character was the replacement for John in the Russian organization.
Keanu had high fever during the Nightclub scene and pullt through. If you think about what he does in this movie He Looks almost inhuman.
Honestly one of the greatest independantly made movies of all time. I hope this stands as a testament to the storytelling potential of stunt teams and stunt coordinators, because absolutely everything about the first John Wick is perfect.
I have quibbles with the second and third movie, but they don't reduce my enjoyment of them, but 1 and 4 stand as perfect action movies for me.
Dafoe was never really hunting John; he took the contract so he could watch over his friend, a real bro. If it wasn't the case he absolutely coulda taken him out while he was sleeping
I don't think he would have taken that shot anyway, it would have counted as 'business' on Continental grounds. However, Marcus was a real bro, rip.
I think these films get so much praise bc while some scenes may be repetitive, it’s the WORLD BUILDING surprisingly that’s actually amazing 🤗
So glad to see more reacting to this film.
This is a thought I just had, I doubt I'm the first to think it.
Its always badass when a guy just kicks ass or goes on a spree in movies in simple black suit. And think I know why.
Yes its to do with the simplicity of it; just no frills, no real flash, it lets you focus on the action and the emotions... But its a bit deeper than that, I think.
I think the reason its so badass to see a character like john wick in the simple black suit go on his revenge fueled murder spree... Is because its, in essence, a funeral suit.
Its basically a statement. "they put on this suit, and people. Are going. To die."
i just randomly re-watch john wick 1 , and the reaction drops. Pure happiness
I remember reading somewhere that the way Keanu reloads in these movies is used by competitive speed shooters now because it's more efficient than previous techniques.
also also "no business can be conducted on these grounds, lest incurring heavy penalties" doesn't specify killing anyone. it literally means acting on a contract. you'll see this in action in the second movie, which I highly recommend. Whether you kill the target or not, you are NOT to conduct business of any kind, aka tracking or attacking a contract target, when on the premises of the Continental Hotel, worldwide.
Been waiting on this one yesss John wick series is so fire 🔥
*Let's go! been waiting for it*
"OH". The greatest 1 word ever spoken in film. 😅
11:22 the reason that that his Dad, the mob boss gets a different bottle, is that he planned to do that. He gave his son the cheap vodka, because he knew he’d throw it up when he hit him in the stomach. Then, he pours himself a glass of the good vodka. He also pointedly doesn’t give his son a glass of it.
Well done guys. Very entertaining.
One thing about first time watching a movie with someone who's already watched it is that during the movie where they think some scenes are not important so they just loudly joke it through while your experience will be easily ruined, as if they handpicked what they think the most highlighted part of the movie for you to focus, instead of yourself. Plus from directing and movie making perspective, a movie is delivering an experience of watching it from top to end continuously without pausing and sharing, that's why the best movie experience is in the movie theater coz you just sit their, shut your mouth and phone down and purely experience the whole story. But everyone has different ways of enjoying movie I guess, the point is having a blast :)
Oh shit the WKUK reference had me rolling. Well done, sir.
us supernatural fans like to know everything about our boys💖
GOD DAMN YOU GUYS ARE FAST AT UPLOADING
It's what we do
Can't wait for more John Wick 🙌
*Just assuming* here, I think by the time the trilogy upload to UA-cam, the John Wick 4 available to buy or rent 🤞🤞
The one playing Perkins is Adrianne Palicki. She stars in the show Orville and In Agents of Shield.
The best term i've ever heard for john wick's breed of action is "gun-fu"
Second movie starts with John Wick getting killed, and the dog goes on a revenge murder spree.
Rocket Jump did a parody video about that. "You just killed John Wick's dog's human!"
JW 3 is my favorite and can't wait for your reactions on that one!
hey i heard ruff say have you seen bondock saints? (which is an amazing movie!) but have you seen the second one?
I *completely* understood your Supernatural explanation. LOL Adrianne Palicki played Jessica, Sam's gf that was killed. Jared married Gen, the actress that played Ruby #2.
Harry wasnt gonna let her go. Hotel management would have found her in the room and she would suffer the same fate she did later in the movie.
Wondering about the price of the coins, the directors themselves said that its less a currency and more a token of being 'in the know'. Theres no concrete value to the coins, and if you have to ask how much a coins worth, then you're not in the Continental.
41:30 "John Wick in Paris"..... oh if you guys only knew haha
Ok boom with the supernatural knowledge 👏
*Someone gets killed by an assassin*
Charlie: 👁👄👁
"john wick in paris" lmao keep watching maybe that happens
Remember gentlemen… it only gets better from here. 😏
Such an amazing series
also his name is actually WILLIAM DAFOE (pronounced DAY-FOE). There's an old video up on UA-cam where hes seen at an acting class introducing himself as William Dayfoe. He said at some acting thing, someone offed up his name as Willem Dah-foe and bc his dad was also Willian Dayfoe, he stuck with Willem Dah-foe.
Do you guys cut off the "main lines" in the movie for patreon or it's just what you do?
Genuinely asking , new viewer.
We don’t even know what “main lines” mean, so no?
@@SortaStupid I mean to say , lines of Monologue / dialogue.
Example: 'he was the one you sent to Kill the Fuckn Boogeyman" , "ofcourse , but it won't matter" etc.
They were cut out. So was curious.
Nah we don’t cut out anything specific for Patreon outside of the final conversation after the reaction is over. So if it’s cut out, it either didn’t get a reaction or was hit with copyright
@@balerion77 I've noticed some ppl don't realize what "main lines" are.
I caught the WKUK reference
when i first saw this movie and at the end, i really wanted john to say i need a reason for JW 2 lol
1. Yes they are that good
2. KEANU REEVES
3. No the story line is not always the same
4. But the theme could be Revenge
Well the best way to see what drives the plot on for 3 more movies is to watch those movies xD Though I still need to see 3 myself before I can move on to 4, got behind in watching anything. I didn't find 2 as good as the first, myself, but it was still highly enjoyable, I thought.
Jimmy the officer is probably the smartest person in this movie
Titanic was 3hrs. Avatar, both of them, are 3hrs. ROOTS was 3hrs. Avengers Infinity War was just under 3hrs. Avengers Endgame was 3hrs. Zac Snyder's Justice League is 4hrs. We've got JW4 covered. lol
They ain't ready for PEAK action and world building coming up
When Avi (Mayhem guy) shoots at John, then laughs.. Best assumption is it's the gun Viggo used on Marcus - so it only had that one round left, and he missed with it :p
For the record, John Wick kills 77 people in this movie. If you want to make that a drinking game...good luck.
1 of the most heinous crime in movie history that leads to 439 body counts so far in 4 movies ............................ A PUNK KILLS A PUPPY
So no spoilers but to explain a bit of its popularity. Jon Wick 1 to 4 are essentially one storyline all linked together the events here in 1 tie into 2 which leads into 3 and 4 finishes the story. Whereas taken is the same story repeating and fast and furious are largely seperate stories in the same universe this is one story told over 4 films.
What Year?
41:51 For the record, though, it is legally William.
Now watch the Pitch Meeting video for John Wick 😂😂😂
I LOVE that the new car from management gets totaled in the end, it's a POS car to begin with, was laughin' my ass off.
I would love to see you react to Grand Budapest Hotel. It's one of my favorites and Willem Dafoe also plays a psychopath in it.
That is not Jared Padalecki’s wife.
They are on Walker Texas Ranger together now.
John killed 299 people in three movies. more than both Michael Mayers and Jason Voohees in 22 movies combined.
John is having serious anger issue
once they did in the dog, they released hell upon the earth and deserved everything that happends to them.
when the guy goes "Oh" you know from the look on his face things gone south real fast. when Cop knwo you and leave you alone you know you are bad ass lol.
Keeanu was 48 when he did john wick he did fight driving and gun training himself the only things he didn't so and had a stunt double for was being hit by the cars and being thrown down the stairs/ falling down the stairs
The guy at the end only shot at John once because he ran out of bullets... Vigo unleashed every other bullet into Marcus at the house.
oh hey wkuk reference
OMG! YAYAYYAYYYY!!!!!!! Please react to the other ones, I saw JW 4 AND OMGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! SO AMAZING!!!!!!
Loved this reaction, y'all are awesome!!!!!!!
This is the lowest budged and least violent of the four...
Seriously, in this movie, John just wants to go home to the suburbs and grieve his wife. By the time of the fourth one, he's going full Doom Slayer "rip and tear until it is done" against enemies in level 5 body armor and ninjas (it's about 2.75 hours long, with around 2 hours of that being fight scenes).
Old school bady. Just with a modern twist.
Just checking in as the number 1 H-man fan
U know why he is wearing watch in opposite direction of hand ? Coz it's a trick trained assassin fool snipers in situation
