I just turned 41, hope I can be as fit and healthy as you when I get into my 60s. Dude that Toyota is better than any vehicle you can purchase nowadays, well worth beeping it on the road.
I think you are correct. I have pre ordered a solar electric vehicle called an Aptera. Production always seems to be a year away. They decided to replace the in wheel motors which I really liked with an inferior transaxle motor that will probably not be manufactured much longer. I don’t know if I want that vehicle now.
I paid off my 30 year mortgage in 17 years. Nothing says you can't pay it off early and having the lower payment when times were tight was helpful to me. Good luck to you in your retirement.
Hold on to your truck as long as you can. Having no payments far outweighs many other benefits. I drove mine for 18 years. I'd still have it if not for a hit and run.
I have much less in bank savings, because I moved my 6-figures out of a "too big to fail" bank to pay down my 2.5% interest rate mortgage with 28 years left. I am completely out of debt, including my mortgage, and without counterparty risk before the next World War, Civil War, and Greater Depression hit hard. Several years ago, I cancelled my last credit card. I pay with cash or with debit card, no checks. I owe nothing and I have positive cash flow above my expenses. For 20+ years, I saved and only paid cash to buy my used cars. My only real estate worries are skyrocketing insurance and property taxes; they're coming sooner than you think. *"I may be wrong, but I am never in doubt." -- Dan Peña -- QLA*
oh, shortening the debt period can be a good and a bad thing. See, I had just bought a new apartment at the age of 25 with a 10 year debt. It's cool that I will fully own it when im 35 or less, but at what cost? I constantly deny myself pleasure and entertainment and live just like you. Work, work out, sleep and repeat. So yeah, it can be a blessing and a curse
Thank you for the perspective and I congratulate you on being out of debt. My situation is that I am 67 and coming to the end of my working life and I think it’s better not to be carrying this debt into retirement. I am at a place in my life where happiness is being able to participate in activities with others and for me it is an ability issue more than an affordability issue.
You'll OWN something at 35 if the sacrifice is you can't get your coffee from Starbucks or go out on a super fancy holiday but you have 10yrs to wait for something that some people will never have in their lifetimes. Just get it done and stop whining. The sacrifice is worth the squeeze. 🙄🙄
Hard times are coming. Some argue that they are already here --> It is very hard to find good jobs anymore and everything costs double since cooties. You don't want to be in debt if the bottom falls out of this house of cards economy of ours. Good for you for trying to take care of that loan.
I've waited 35 years to buy my new car. A Seal, solar panels and, 30 TSLA. The car will depreciate, the panels will reduce my expenses and, the stock will go up in 5 years.
@@williamread8186 BYD Dynamic Seal. Looks good. Really nice inside. Perfect? No. No car is. It was reward to ourselves for reaching a milestone - also a small flick of the switch from saving to spending. Still need to give some investments time to mature. Mind you, please don't underestimate the value of your health. I need to improve mine - do more exercise. All the best.
I have a commercial loan with a variable rate so a refinance rate will be higher than 6.88. The loan is on an apartment building that is an investment. Also if I paid just the minimum the remaining term is 11 years. I am hoping to be finished with this in two years.
Keep it up amigo. Love the positive energy!
Congrats brother! It feels good to be debt free and living a healthy life !

@@williamread8186 Sounds good to me. I'm also working to try to get to retirement without debt. Just the peace of mind alone can be priceless.

Is the seal a BYD? I own their stock in addition to TSLA. Congratulations on the new car.

Hell, at your age, I'd take on MORE debt and then file Chapter 11.
im sure you would. You monster.
Haha. Any ideas on how I should spend it? Go all in on bitcoin!! LOL.
Y not refinance for a lower payment with mortgage rates at 6.88 today?
