Interesting! Plot-wise, I have to say I preferred Cruel Prince purely because I had no interest in the underwater aspect of Wicked King, and Queen of Nothing was so short, I just couldn’t vibe with it as much. However, character-wise, I loved the later books, too. Seeing their development was so interesting :)

I think i'm the only one left in this world who truly enjoys Red Queen. It made me laugh and cry and i think about it on daily basis. I loved absolutely everything about that book. ❤️
Red Queen is actually good. I mean, there were some things that I didn’t like, but all in all, it’s actually quite amazing. It’s just that I hated Mare sometimes because she was so insufferable and filled with self-importance (aka, the second book), but she actually became a decent character at the end of the third book.
I *almost* gave up on cruel prince halfway through. I just didn't understand the hype. BUT I made myself finish it and I'm so glad I did! The series as a whole is great but the cruel prince its self was meh for most of it.
I have just finished it. It is so good. I can understand the confusion that someone can have because there are a lot of dynamics, but by studying this myths at school it was just perfect (here in Italy it's normal to study ancient greek literature). The writing was fantastic.
ToG was the series that actually got me back into reading again 😂 I literally couldn’t put it down my coworker got mad I passed her in the series and finished before her. I cried so much in all the books especially the last one.
I personally really enjoyed the cruel Prince series. It’s very much an enemies to lovers kinda thing. Some people just really don’t like/can get behind Jude which I get cause she does make some questionable choices but I loved the ending.
My discovery of booktok is the reason my library exploded this year!! I love that literature is being promoted on social media ♥️ Definitely something I can get behind!
Sarah J Maas' books especially ACOTAR are quite problematic and they're recommended to the wrong age group so I really can't stand behind them, but I think you can understand a book's issues and still love the book so I understand the hype, I just personally read them when I was far too young and lived to regret it lol
If you want to try a fantasy series that is for a slightly older audience, I recommend the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett; I think they're not too mature to be classed as adult books, more of young adult area, mainly because they focus more on the plot and humour The ones that features Tiffany Aching are actually for younger readers, akin to books like Percy Jackson, but they are not isoloated from the rest of the books, maybe as a way to introduce teenagers to his works Haven't read most of his other books, so procede with caution if you are curious Sorry for the long reply 😅

I find it so funny booktok recommendations are typically popular booktube recommendations from a few years ago 🤧 I love this video so much, I actually have a lot of similar opinions on these books. I loved The Cruel Prince trilogy, but Sarah j Mass's writing feels like fanfiction. I cannot believe that I got so popular in place of actually good books with good world building, complex characters, and actual plots. ACOTAR was literally just whish fulfillment and her so called "found family" felt like a boyband fanfiction where Rhysand was Harry Styles.
Omg me with We Were Liars it was a mind fuck. I also sobbed in front of my sister and cousin and made them quite uncomfortable. It was 20 minutes of sobbing so 🤷♀️

For Sarah J Maas, I don’t think of them as “over hyped”, I love them and and many others do so the hype makes sense because we genuinely love them and like any other kind of fans , we like to share and talk about the things we love. I got my entire reading list (60 books) from it. I ignored all of the common ones (Six of Crows, Shadow & Bone etc as I'll get to them eventually in my own time). Also tried to vary the genre, culture and content. Best decision ever. 6 books in and I love the ones I've gone through so far.
Please read six of crows even if you don't read Shadow and bone .....u won't regret it...it's the best...six of crows deserve to be read by everyone 😭 I didn't really like shadow and bone much but six of crows is just amazinggggggggg
It’s so weird that “the cruel prince” gets so much hype but I don’t think I ever hear anyone talk about “The Whims of Fae” series by Nissa Leder. It has a similar plot and tropes but It’s a better series in my opinion. I do also like the cruel prince too though.

I got my entire reading list (60 books) from it. I ignored all of the common ones (Six of Crows, Shadow & Bone etc as I'll get to them eventually in my own time). Also tried to vary the genre, culture and content. Best decision ever. 6 books in and I love the ones I've gone through so far.
Please read six of crows even if you don't read Shadow and bone .....u won't regret it...it's the best...six of crows deserve to be read by everyone 😭 I didn't really like shadow and bone much but six of crows is just amazinggggggggg

In the folk of the air trilogy, I wasn’t a fan of the romance until the second book, which is where I really started to enjoy it and long for it.
If you haven’t read “Keeping Lucy”, you NEED to!! Sooo good!!

It’s so weird that “the cruel prince” gets so much hype but I don’t think I ever hear anyone talk about “The Whims of Fae” series by Nissa Leder. It has a similar plot and tropes but It’s a better series in my opinion. I do also like the cruel prince too though.
