I hope we have many more Serkis films.

I love how when he was first handed that card, he so very easily and so fluidly hopped up on the seat!!! Wow, such great talent. So very impressive. I remember reading about how doing that voice of Gollum left him with a sore throat and a real hoarseness afterwards. It is so impressive that he came up with that voice himself, from his cat hacking up a fur-ball.
Agreed, and it wasn't just motion capture, it was more like they just added the makeup in post production instead of before filming. No special effects can duplicate those facial expressions, especially the eyes, with that kind of detail and complexity. That's all Andy.
I'm starting to think he might just be the most talented actor I've ever seen. Literaly everything he does I'm instantly and fully immersed and amazed. So, I certainly agree

Elijah Wood and Sean Astin were so thankful Andy acted alongside them as Gollum, too (they didnt have to imagine Gollum because he was there). Weta (sfx team) first designed Gollum as fantasy animated character, but Gollum got 'personified' with Andy's face- it is the final render of Gollum as we know
You can tell the moment Stephen stops being camera -professional when he's literally mouthing the words as "Gollum" says them, which is like a newbie actor thing you have to consciously stop yourself from doing.
Colbert looks like he's thinking, "This is so awesooooooome!!!" the entire time when Andy Serkis is doing the Gollum voice. But when Andy Serkis turns to him at 4:39, he immediately changes his geeking-out face to a totally cool bro-nod!
even more so, He created Gollum! (I mean, of course Tolkien created the original idea of Gollum, but in the original draft by Jackson, Gollum was supposed to be completely animated and they were just looking for a voice actor. Serkis kind of persuaded Jackson that they should do more, he invented the the whole visual mannerism and the speech patterns himself).
If Serkis were doing this with Trump's post-election Tweets, he could ditch Smeagol entirely and just go pure Gollum: _"Nasty, tricksy, false Democratses...STOLE it from us!"_

My mum walked passed Andy Serkis 3 times in the same day, and even acknowledged eachother and smiled. *She thought he was one of my sisters friends dads...*
Slightly related: When living in New Mexico I saw a man I knew in a grocery store and kept looking over because I couldn’t remember where I knew him from - legitimately thought he was one of my professors but I couldn’t remember his name or what class he taught and thought it polite to say hi, but didn’t want to seem rude. He walked away looking uncomfortable and I felt really bad about it. Two weeks later I was watching TV and discovered it was Fred Armisen 🤦🏻♀️
Met this wonderful man yesterday at Tampa Comic Con. He was so amazingly kind, humble and funny! (I got an excellent hug, the true measure of a man...:)! He mentioned doing the "tweets" at the panel, so I had to look them up. Almost peed myself, laughing! Magnificently talented and a great human being.
Awww, that’s nice! That’s why I love the LOTR cast so much. They’re so down to earth and kind to their fans. A lot of celebrities aren’t like that. So many are rude and condescending.

This kind of acting so so pure, nobody knows he did it, he`s not getting credit like a Ryan Gosling but does the same ammount of work, he`s in it for the acting performance, not the glory. This is a true artist.
3:07 that's acting right there... man. That emotion, you can literally see his thoughts on his face. The image of the painful memory he is reminded of in that moment. God, the whole thing but especially that moment, is so good.
Nah mate, you got talent yourself -you just gotta find out what it is. Try out everything that seems interesting to you (obviously as much as you can, since we're all bound by school, work, etc) and find the thing that you're having fun with and are good in. Guaranteed, you do have talent. I have to find my own still, btw, but I'm sure it'll come to me eventually.
I'm with you that he's obviously talented, but the man's probably spent a cumulative year of his life in that character. Some shoes slip on easier than others.
Andy Serkis should have a UA-cam channel where he reads people comments and reacts to other people"s videos in Gollum voice. i would watch ,share and subscribe to that shit
True. But the thing is, he probably do not want to be stuck in this role. Gollum character was great, genius even, but Serkis is definitely not one ßcharacter actor.
Son of a bitch, that was the coolest pieces of filmmaking I’ve seen. The change from actor to character was incredible. Mr. Serkis is an amazingly talented artist.
W.D.K. Podcast look at Stephens face when he finished reading that first tweet..he looks like he's about to start giggling and clapping like a fan girl..it's beautiful
PLEASE, Andy Serkis, make everyone's life better and create a channel dedicated to reading Trump's tweets as Gollum. I would watch this every day of the year!!!!!
Met Andy back in 2013 in New Orleans. Nicest guy ever. My friend and I were torn on whether to approach him because he was on vacation with his family but he was super nice. He was thrilled to find out we were huge fans. His wife even took the picture for us! Thanks again Andy!
There's a ridiculous amount of talent in this man. Watching him transform into Caesar (via CGI) while giving an oscar-worthy performance was one of the coolest things I've ever seen an actor do. That was some brilliant goddamn acting.

Yes but it unnerved me a bit because I remember he said doing the Gollum voice hurts his throat
I love that his instinct was to go into gollum position, can't do the voice sitting straight.
Wasn't instinct. It was rehearsed. Every show is rehearsed before hand.
This is common knowledge these days.

He certainly is; and like all of the LOTR actors I've seen so far, he's so modest, down-to-earth and has no arrogance whatsoever.
I hope he wins an Oscar for his performances
And mad nice. I met him on the street half a year ago and he was such a cool guy.
Omg yesssss
He voices Caesar, Smeagol, Snoke and acts as a decent side villain in the Avengers series, along with playing King Kong. What a true legend.
@Jimbo Bimbo And basically every orc with a line in LOTR.

Elijah Wood and Sean Astin were so thankful Andy acted alongside them as Gollum, too (they didnt have to imagine Gollum because he was there). Weta (sfx team) first designed Gollum as fantasy animated character, but Gollum got 'personified' with Andy's face- it is the final render of Gollum as we know
“Could I have you read Trump’s tweets as Gollum?”
Mr. Andy Serkis, acting master:
“Lemme just get into full character-[boing!]”
Stephen's face lit up when he started 😭 pure nerd boy joy
+Mikayla Stokely Ikr! he looked so happy.
Is it so wrong to love the person who portrays, dies for, what he loves? **GOLLUM** Sorry, something caught in my throat. **:D**
I've never gotten so many likes 😂
I’m surprise Steven was still conscious considering his absolute love for LOTR. Andy Serkis is such a talented and genuinely kind soul.
"What's Covfefe, Precious?" "Cov-fe-fe! Boil 'em, Mash 'em, Stick 'em in a stew!"
Po-ta-to.
A seriously missed opportunity for that reference. Kudos for making it here at least.
Damnit, was just about to comment this. Well done sir
Aly H As Stephen said, "No one knows."
murf0118 Stupid fat Hobbit!
Please give this man his Oscar already!
Marc Valley you mean an old people's choice award? Serkis is too talented for it.
Maybe. But it would be a way for the Academy to acknowledge the merrit of performance capture. And any recognition for this man's talent is warranted.
Doesn't he run his own company that's pioneering motion capture technology?
Lee Sapp He does.
Marc Valley Loooong over due! He's fucking brilliant!!!
Stephen was fanboying the whole time he read those lol just look at his face
*LOL* I loved to see how much he did geek out!
not that I in his place would have freaked out any less mind you ;)
You can tell the moment Stephen stops being camera -professional when he's literally mouthing the words as "Gollum" says them, which is like a newbie actor thing you have to consciously stop yourself from doing.
I love how the audience just loses their mind when he voices Sméagol & Gollum!!
For real. Pause it at 4:23
HE is a HUGE LOTR fan.
Colbert looks like he's thinking, "This is so awesooooooome!!!" the entire time when Andy Serkis is doing the Gollum voice. But when Andy Serkis turns to him at 4:39, he immediately changes his geeking-out face to a totally cool bro-nod!
squallofreeves Stephen was geeking out
lol, omg didn't notice, that how my face was like lol
That was epic. He didn't just speak like Gollum, he became Gollum
even more so, He created Gollum!
"What's covfefe, precious?"
XD I died!
chwen hoou It was too much of a riddle for him.
no one knows.
That's when I lost it. My favorite part!
I love the way Stephen Colbert's face lights up when he starts using the voice
Stephen is a true nerd and I love that he makes no effort to hide it
If Serkis were doing this with Trump's post-election Tweets, he could ditch Smeagol entirely and just go pure Gollum:
_"Nasty, tricksy, false Democratses...STOLE it from us!"_
😂
Thats amazing. I am for this.
YES!!!!!!
I'd pay money to watch that video!
I can totally hear Gollum saying this line, thanks for the fun already
“What’s dictators, Precious?”
he did this gollum voice himself?
wow this is outstanding, i always thought this was an effect on his normal voice.
fantastic.
Same. Omg
Same. I mean how does he make that voice?
Me too 😱
Lord Of The Rings Extended Edition Appendices reveales, that Andy got his inspiration for Gollums Voice from his vomiting cat
they éven had a special drink for him with honey and lemon(dont remember all ingredients) because the gollum voice was hurting his throat so much
watching Stephen light up during the reading is a delight. He's just so happy to have Gollum there
4:05 😂🤣 Andy jumps up onto his chair - it would have been enough for the voice but we got the full on character Precious 🤣😂
Stephen Colbert rocks!! And Andy Serkis rocks with him!!
That's a real actor. Truly brilliant...
Gollum speaking the word "Sad" is the greatest thing ever!
But what's kaffufle, Precious?!?
Stephen is so happy listening to Serkis it's adorable.
Stephen had a look of a kid on Christmas Morning when Andy started to speak.
HES HAPPY ITS A SHILL,COLD BERT CANT INTERVIEW AND MOST CELEBS DONT LIKE HIM, AT LEAST BEFORE THE TRUMP BASHING WENT FULLTIME.WAS DUE TO BE CANCELLED AND TRUMP SAVED HIM.YOUR WELCOME!! ONLY IF COLD BERT INSULTED MELANIA OR BARRON,OR MADE A TOTALLY VILE PENIS "joke" ON TRUMP, WOULD HE BE FIRED..OH WAIT,ALL THAT HAPPENED,HE GOT A STERN FCC AND NBC...WARNING...THAT SHOWED HIM...COLD BERY SECRETLY WORSHIPS TRUMP..HIS MEAL TICKET,,WHY WOULDNT HE??
Dennis Schrank is everything ok do u need some water
He's a huge LotR fan
Michal Wspanialy his nerdom had reached its peak 😂
What a great performer. 'Thankses' to Mr. Serkis for all the entertainment.
Serkis should do audiobooks in his Gollum voice.
As gollum and smegoll
His poor voice.
@@remywiggelman6476 Epic.
Throat cancer.
I'd pay for that!
ha! look at stephen's face. he's soooo excited and happy. like a kid in a candy store
Jesse Brennan he is a neeeeerd
It's so cute!!
Jesse Brennan, on the outside hes acting as an adult seeing his favourite actor but on the inside he is screaming with excitement
My mum walked passed Andy Serkis 3 times in the same day, and even acknowledged eachother and smiled. *She thought he was one of my sisters friends dads...*
What!!!! How?? when?? On what occasion???.... Gosh I would give anything to meet him....
Hahsgdnfufiekb!!???
On gollum's form or klaw or balloo??
Lmao
He is not only a great actor but also a great human being. He deserves an oscar and IMO also be knighted. Hats off to you sir
SHUYIN - Gaming Channel I couldn't agree more with you
SHUYIN - Gaming Channel Yeah !! Make it happen!
SHUYIN - Gaming Channel Sir Andy Serkis, has a nice ring to it
Jediraisey NO! NO RINGS! ONE WAS ENOUGH!
Knighted! Ohh you mean from the biggest drain on the British Tax Payer, those inbreds that wave to you from Benefits Balcony! Well, if you want a taste of reality, I'll give it to you. The next time your feeling all patriotic, spare a thought for the 8,000 + Veterans that are sleeping on our streets, while these Elitist Royals demand more money. Wake up people, time to smell the Coffee. UA-cam 'Eric Dubay 200 Proofs'. Crazy Hey. Critical thinkers only.
This kind of acting so so pure, nobody knows he did it, he`s not getting credit like a Ryan Gosling but does the same ammount of work, he`s in it for the acting performance, not the glory.
This is a true artist.
Klijnsmit Guitars YES
very good I like Ryan too by the way! It was an exame of known / not so known.
3:07 that's acting right there... man. That emotion, you can literally see his thoughts on his face. The image of the painful memory he is reminded of in that moment. God, the whole thing but especially that moment, is so good.
He also did an absolutely amazing job at narrating the LOTR series on audible 👌👌
I'm crestfallen. It's unfair on a cosmic scale that just one man has so much talent in his body and I have zero... :(
Nah mate, you got talent yourself -you just gotta find out what it is. Try out everything that seems interesting to you (obviously as much as you can, since we're all bound by school, work, etc) and find the thing that you're having fun with and are good in. Guaranteed, you do have talent.
I have to find my own still, btw, but I'm sure it'll come to me eventually.
littlebrit2007 Don't you dare go hollow. (someone will get this, I hope)
He got into character in the blink of an eye and thats when you know, he is a great actor!
Yes, it's the kind of effortless move that bespeaks of years and years and years of hard work and training, together with a very intelligent mind.
Probably because he has done this for months and in 3 films with same role
I'm with you that he's obviously talented, but the man's probably spent a cumulative year of his life in that character. Some shoes slip on easier than others.
If i could do that voice, i would probably never use my regular voice ever again ^^
My God Andy was BRILLIANT reading those tweets. He should have had a standing ovation for it. Had to go back and see it again....3 times 😂❤️
Only three times? LOL. Rip my replay button 😂
Saving this to watch over and over when the world gets too much. Love you Andy! Thank you! You are a gift sir!
Wow! I always thought that the smealgal/gollum voice had a digital aspect. It's refreshing to see it was 100% real.
Daniel Andersson Sméagol*
I'm sorry for laughing but seriously dude smealgal
night owl smealgal gadot
I can do a decent Gollum voice as well, lol. I've met a few other people who can do it too. Totally possible in real life :D
andy serkis does a lot crazy work.
Andy Serkis should have a UA-cam channel where he reads people comments and reacts to other people"s videos in Gollum voice. i would watch ,share and subscribe to that shit
Coded lulu And support through Patreon.
True. But the thing is, he probably do not want to be stuck in this role. Gollum character was great, genius even, but Serkis is definitely not one ßcharacter actor.
Either way it's gonna be a while, but he"ll still have the funs support whichever project he picks
i am a simple man, i see andy serkis; i press like!
Victor Mena Simple man but not very original.... lol
PowerhousePR thats why he is a SIMPLE man, u dumbass
God bless this man for still not minding and maybe even downright enjoying playing Gollum 🥲
It's fun to do the voice
Stephen is sooooo happy watching Andy do Gollum. Look at that smile!
"WAIT, WHAT'S COVFEFE PRECIOUS?"
Yezen Saadah
Potatoesss
Yezen Saadah whats taters precious??
Po-tay-toesss boil ‘em smash ‘em stick ‘em in a stew
Yezen Saadah COV - FE - FE?!!! Boil it Mash it. Stick it in a stew.
Noooo!
Gives it to us raw and wriggling.
Son of a bitch, that was the coolest pieces of filmmaking I’ve seen. The change from actor to character was incredible. Mr. Serkis is an amazingly talented artist.
OMG, I have tears of laughter Streaming down my face! 😂🤣 best Tmp tweet reenactment!
Oh, god. I was having such a crappy week. This made my day and the rest of the days. Thanks, Andy Serkis!
Hope your week gets better! 🌸
Do you know what do we say to crappy days? Not today. Cheers, mate :)
Love how when Serkis goes into his Gollum voice, Colbert looks like a 5 year old who just laid eyes on the real Santa Claus
Without CGI, Stephen completely de-aged into a 11 year old boy and it was awesome!
He completely fan boyed right then.
4:20 wow, that look on Stephen's face is pure joy. what a nerd. 😂😂
Layla Abdush-Shaheed 420 hehe
Kieran D'Souza I didn't even notice! 😂😂
Layla Abdush-Shaheed he said 420 without realising
Layla Abdush-Shaheed
Right. My eyes were glued on Andy. I'll have to go back to check out Stephen's face. 🙄
NEVER go full nerd!
Whenever I see Trump on tv now I will always hear Gollum's voice 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I met this guy 5 years ago, recognized him immediately. He was so humble and took a few photos with me and chatted.
Cool
Did he gave you a Gollum impression?
Admit it... Your smile fucking glistened right when he jumped on the couch and spoke
W.D.K. Podcast Damn right, I did🤣
Andy Serkis is haunting!! Jeezzz, 'em shivers caught me in between that smile
More! I want to hear Gollum read more Trump tweets! #Precious
W.D.K. Podcast look at Stephens face when he finished reading that first tweet..he looks like he's about to start giggling and clapping like a fan girl..it's beautiful
W.D.K. Podcast I had the biggest dumb smile the entire time he was reading the tweets.
PLEASE, Andy Serkis, make everyone's life better and create a channel dedicated to reading Trump's tweets as Gollum. I would watch this every day of the year!!!!!
Yesssss
Justine Kibler check out gollum j trump
We need to have a co-reading with Gollum/Smeagol and the Joker!
Holy hell I agree 110% that was hilarious!
Justine Kibler oh dear God please make this happen!!
I love the way Colbert called him "My Precious".❤
Met Andy back in 2013 in New Orleans. Nicest guy ever. My friend and I were torn on whether to approach him because he was on vacation with his family but he was super nice. He was thrilled to find out we were huge fans. His wife even took the picture for us! Thanks again Andy!
The look of glee on Stephen's face :)
I'd prolly be drooling :)
He's a big lotr fan
Make America precious again
LOL ,,,,=^..^=,,,,
YES HAHAHHAHAHAHA
LOL XD
Lol I don't remember when was America precious before. Power hungry manipulator, looter monster..... It doesn't sound precious at all.
@@emmk4992 with that logic when was any country or land precious? Use some common sense
Just an absolute acting legend. He has a wonderful attitude and personality too. He’s a rare gem in Hollywood..
Such a gifted actor and an outstanding, phenomenal guy. What a pleasure it must be to know him personally.
There's a ridiculous amount of talent in this man. Watching him transform into Caesar (via CGI) while giving an oscar-worthy performance was one of the coolest things I've ever seen an actor do. That was some brilliant goddamn acting.
Andy Serkis is truly a talented actor.
Sorry, I could only give 1 like for that absolute gem ...
1.Create a second account.
2. Re watch this video.
3. Give an another thumbs up.
4. Repeat steps 1- 3 as many times as you desire.
You can't give more than one
I know right, we should have a 2 thumbs up option
One might even say... *pReCiOuSsssss gem.*
@@krisfrederick5001 More like a 1M like option! For this *PRECIOUS* gold anyway.
Amazing performance! Thank you, Mr. Serkis! You rock!
The absolute, *unbridled* glee in Stephen's face when Andy is reading those lines is probably the best part of this clip. :)
Dude is a legend.
I didn't realize he did the voices too. Hes the only person who can do the Golum voice without sounding like a complete douche.
moemoney131 that's because he IS gollum/smeagol
Haha yeah I know but whenever I hear someone try to do an impression of it, I want to make sure people know I am not with that person.
Stephens face is like a little kid on Christmas as he's reading like Smeagol
theplourde you know he really enjoyed his job on this specific day.😊
ROFLOL. I think I saw this clip multiple years ago and it is still hilarious. He is great.
