You say it takes a long time to edit these videos, I agree, but in your favour it does show. The planning, preparation, time and effort put into your videos shines through. Keep up the excellent work and consider hot glue to hold the television to the wall next time, it would make a shorter video and save on the faff. 😂😂😂
😂 He can get a bucket of steam at the same time 😂 Sometimes though, the built-in spirit levels are not square to the TV bracket, so I always use my own level, as I know the bubble in that one is not faulty 😂
depending on your livingroom wall layouts etc ,i do prefer a slimline floor to half ceiling TV unit stand ,it hides the cables easier ,holds your AV equipment and consoles and can move it around if u wish compared to a fixed poking out TV wall mount ,just my opinion ( id only like a wall mount if it was embedded )

First I love your channel and I'm a subscriber for a long time already! I did a similar installation when we moved into our house. But unfortunately I later found out, that my OCD is able to accurately detect even down to 2 mm difference in level. So I ended up having to shim the TV on the rail via some home made improvised miniature shims. I wonder if there is a the type of rails that allow that kind of fine adjustment for level.
We want to put a tv up on it chimney breast wall and we got a new tv coming soon and it’s finding the right people to do it Curry’s wanted £289 to install it 😯 Almost the same cost as out tv We have wallpaper on our wall so does that need to come off to put the bracket on? Great video!
You're right but in many homes that fireplace and mantle are the central focal points in the room. Putting a tv somewhere else off to the sides just doesn't look good.
Ben de Vette That is a common misconception. I hung my first display in 1995 and I’ve never heard a complaint about height so long as you aren’t terribly close in the seating area. Your eyes look upward, not your head. Many homes {in the US at least} necessitate the display above the fireplace if having it in the center of the room is important. If your room is small, I’d agree with your comment though.

I discovered a plasterboard fixing I haven't seen before today at my local DIY store (in Sweden). I had a look and can't seem to find them in the UK but perhaps you'd be interested to test them out anyway? They seem to be made by a German company, the fixing itself is an interesting self deploying toggle type fixing. Look up TOX Spiral Pro. If you'd like to have a few I can send you some, I'd be keen to see how they stand up to your testing methods.
I've seen similar ones in the USA (a UA-cam comment linked to them for sale at Lowes) They look similar to the metal worm type screws, but with the additional toggle part (which looks quite clever) I'd be happy to test some out (I would need 4 of them), if you can please email me I will provide my postal address. Loved this, I’m just about to fit a tv to a wall at my girlfriends house, every time I do any work like putting shelves up at her house I always have problems as the walls just seem to crumble. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong 😑

As someone that has installed probably over 1000 displays, I can tell you’ve done many yourself. I’ve seen someone do the envelope trick before, I just hold the nozzle from my mini shop vac when drilling. I like your idea of setting one bolt before doing the rest, very clever. That would come in handy for stack stone fireplaces, what a nightmare those can be! I used to give grief to helpers who pulsed the drill ;-}
The bricks in that house are relatively soft, although I once hit a brick upstairs and I could not drill it (I think it had been in a fire or something) I love Accy Nori's, they are superb! Thanks for the comment 👍
Hi incase wondering if you could help. I followed your instructions but I don't seem to be able to drill in far enough as the drill has stopped it is the same drill but I couldn't drill the hole any deeper. Any help.would ve greatly appreciated
Great video as always :) I think the amount of fixings supplied can be a little intimidating sometimes but it's not too difficult, hung one like this a few weeks back. btw I used an impact wrench, would that make it easier than a hand wrench?
Yes, I forgot my impact driver, or an adapter for the drill. I did have my impact wrench in the back of the van, but they are too powerful for jobs like this. Thanks for the comment 👍
I recently got a pull up bar, which came with similar screws/bolt to the ones in this video.... Are these the "concrete bolts" that don't require the rawl plugs, or is that a different fixing all together? My pull up bar came with rawl plugs as well. I'm a bit confused.

The Gasbeton plugs are good, but to be honest I have just used 4 inch long screws in the past with no plug or no pilot hole- you just drill through the plaster and then drive the screw into the thermolite using a drill/driver or impact driver. You stay safe too, Stuart. Thanks for the comment :-)
At your advice in the past I've used Rigifix fittings for a set of coat hooks on a wall that was plasterboard over brick with a gap between. I now want to mount a TV on a plaster-covered brick wall (no gap as far as I can see; I've hung pictures on this wall with regular rawl plugs). Do you think the Rigifix is appropriate here, or is that overkill?
As long as there is no gap, regular wall plugs and screws should be fine. You only need Rigifix or corefix if there is a gap which will lead to the plasterboard being damaged and fixings loosening. Thanks for the comment
You done well using a cordless drill... Mine doesn't have enough power and I have go cabled. What's the make of yours? Have you thought of using those grip it fixings as they're designed for TV?

Yes, but if it is on a chimney breast, you can hide the cables in the chimney. Or you can get some smart D line trunking- which does not look too bad. Thanks for the comment
so i need to allow a certain distance from wall to tv for the cables?. My power lead & hdmi cable stick out a good inch at least from the tv & wont really ben out of the way?. How i do i know which bracket to get for this space?. If that makes sense?

Sometimes there is a bar that needs pulling out from the side, which holds the TV to the bracket. Once the bar is removed you can normally lift the TV up and off the bracket.

Funny cause hanging tv on a solid wall is pretty easy but you’ve got the annoying cables showing, whereas hanging TVs on a stud partition wall is a pain in the ass but the cable hiding is much much easier ( ie hole in plasterboard and cables down to the floor where another hole is assuming there’s no nogging in the way!)
If it's a chimney breast, you can hide the cables in that. For normal walls, you can either use trunking (D line trunking is smart), or you can chase out the wall and redecorate (big job)
Dot and dab walls are exactly the same as a solid wall, you just use different fixings, which I linked to in the description. Either of these two will work- Rigifix- ua-cam.com/video/xaYfs3lr1jI/v-deo.html Corefix- ua-cam.com/video/7xLhIPoO5gQ/v-deo.html Thanks for the comment
Not sure if you mean wires buried in the wall, or the wires going to the TV For buried cables, you can check the area for sockets and switches etc. It is very unlikely to find buried cables in a chimney breast. For the cables going to the TV, you can chase out the wall and run suitable trunking for them, or conceal them in the disused chimney breast- or the easiest option is to use some D Line trunking, as that looks quite tidy. Must have been a Friday night. I fitted a bathroom in a victorain terrace. The boarders/ plasterers, managed to get a corner obtuse (+90 degs) 30mm + over 700mm width of bath, tap end. Face palms. Tutts. Rolls eyes.
I think the house has been extended where I was fitting the TV, but was quite surprised at how far out the wall was. The chimney breast in the other house was the same! I've seen plenty of un-square bathrooms, which can really catch you out when you come to fit a bath or shower. Thanks for the comment 👍

What editing software do you use? If it has keyboard shortcuts for cutting up clips it might be a little less painful to edit. Thanks for sharing.

Editing wise, 1 hour per 1 min of final video is fairly typical. Considering this is a 12min video you did well.
Hung about 80 tvs on dot n dab wall and they are a pain in ass.

Great video, have to say that I'm not a fan of using the plugs, screws etc that come with brackets etc. Always find them to be a bit inferior.

Yes, but if it is on a chimney breast, you can hide the cables in the chimney. Or you can get some smart D line trunking- which does not look too bad.

so i need to allow a certain distance from wall to tv for the cables?. My power lead & hdmi cable stick out a good inch at least from the tv & wont really ben out of the way?. How i do i know which bracket to get for this space?. If that makes sense?

I live in an old barn which has stone walls with plaster over the top, any recommendation for fixings?
If the walls are solid (not crumbly), you can just use normal wall plugs and screws-

Video is very do it yourself but on many acations you use tools jump from one step to another without even describing the tool.your using,?

How would I remove my tv I was home when it was put up but I can’t get to the back of tv to put or remove cables n I just brought I new tv n I can’t remove the tv frame the mount what do I do the tv is still goo I don’t want to brake it my wall is concrete it’s a old building
Sometimes there is a bar that needs pulling out from the side, which holds the TV to the bracket.
Once the bar is removed you can normally lift the TV up and off the bracket.

No, I have never done that, sorry.
Funny cause hanging tv on a solid wall is pretty easy but you’ve got the annoying cables showing, whereas hanging TVs on a stud partition wall is a pain in the ass but the cable hiding is much much easier ( ie hole in plasterboard and cables down to the floor where another hole is assuming there’s no nogging in the way!)
D line make some trunking now, which does not look too bad, but hiding the cables looks much better

If it's a chimney breast, you can hide the cables in that.
For normal walls, you can either use trunking (D line trunking is smart), or you can chase out the wall and redecorate (big job)

Dot and dab walls are exactly the same as a solid wall, you just use different fixings, which I linked to in the description. Either of these two will work-

Not sure if you mean wires buried in the wall, or the wires going to the TV
For buried cables, you can check the area for sockets and switches etc. It is very unlikely to find buried cables in a chimney breast.
For the cables going to the TV, you can chase out the wall and run suitable trunking for them, or conceal them in the disused chimney breast- or the easiest option is to use some D Line trunking, as that looks quite tidy.

"I can actually get my finger behind it" @5:15. That look to camera was too inviting not to say something. Contempt or disgust? Whomsoever dot n dabbed the plasterboard... Must have been a Friday night. I fitted a bathroom in a victorain terrace. The boarders/ plasterers, managed to get a corner obtuse (+90 degs) 30mm + over 700mm width of bath, tap end.
Face palms. Tutts. Rolls eyes.
I think the house has been extended where I was fitting the TV, but was quite surprised at how far out the wall was. The chimney breast in the other house was the same!
I've seen plenty of un-square bathrooms, which can really catch you out when you come to fit a bath or shower.

I bought a pack of glazing packers a few years ago and they come in useful for all kinds of spacing purposes. They avoid the hassle of packing with washers. Typical pack from Screwfix but they're available from all builders merchants: www.screwfix.com/p/broadfix-glazing-packers-medium-225-pcs/33302
I have a pack of those but prefer to use washers, even though they can be fiddly.
