    Amazing tutorial as always! The editing must've taken a long time. When I work on a tile-based game, I often make the costumes 100x100. This allows me to make the tile size variable, where I can simply set the size to the tile size. Only drawback to this is that pixel-art gets hard to make, but so far I've only used vector sprites as tiles.

    First off, I loved this tutorial series. It was so useful for me and my game.
    Second, a warning to future Scratchers: You cannot change the tiles to be a smaller size (24x24, 16x16, etc). Technically you can but because of the 300 clone limit, some of them will simply be invisible. There's no way around it that I know of.

    Another method of getting around sprite fencing is to multiply the size of the sprite by ten or so and then divide by the same amount after you move it to where you want it. That’s what I used a few times in my Starlight platformer to move characters off the screen nicely, mostly for cutscenes.

    Just saying, clones can listen to broadcasts, and for this sprite only variables clones can change it while the variable on the main sprite is still the same, or if the main sprite changes the variable the clones variable version will still be the same. So for example, every different clones will have a different tile x and tile y variable. The clones will also listen to the broadcast position tiles. Hope this helped :)

    • @IzzieDee1
      @IzzieDee1 3 роки тому

      I was just trying to figure this out. One way to try and understand this was to reduce the grid to 2x2. Then drag the "when I start as a clone" to the code field. Put a "say" looks block containing the green operator block "join x variable with y variable. So each clone says its position.

    I don't know why, but I really like the fact that you decided to use Super Mario All Stars sprites (but Super Mario Advance 4 sounds lol)

    This is an excellent tutorial and I love your new editing style! One thing I'd like to ask is to do with a cool effect you made in Appel. On the effect where you draw the black outline to levels using the slightly larger background sprites, how did you make that without reaching the clone limit?

      It might be using stamps, not clones. I'm too tired to actually remix the project and check though
