Jeffrey, you should do a video of the little board behind you! I myself do not use a bunch of pedals, and I think it would be cool to see a minimal setup you use for worship!

this reminds me of me staying up all hours of the night in my bedroom messing with my setup..I wasted a lot of time in my room tho tbh...The pedalboard is cool but it looks like a FIRE just waiting to happen lol..
Another problem I see w/ this pedalboard and I have a question about it..are the 2 Disaster area switchers at the bottom of the board..well based on the adjustments you make on pedals such as the timeline , big sky are those settings set to the switchers?

Yeah that's true the rc booster is a buffer but he had both before this pedalboard upgrade. This is definitely an easier way to switch effects in between songs especially since he has to do a long list most of the time.

Very cool, gave me a few ideas. I maintain a similar kind of pedal board with a lot of the same items (DPC-8EZ, Strymon Pedals) and a lot of MIDI programming.
Great informative video, but I too was wondering how all the pedals were being powered. Couldn't see too many distributors on the board if you were still using gig rig. Thanks again for taking time to do this!
With the xlr cable which goes to a junction box and then plugs in using a normal 9v.

@Jared Bobier &@Michael Navarro - Looking at the picture for his pedal board, it looks as if the junction box has a spot to daisy chain the power supply. Thats just my guess
it's actually very simple to use. I'm loving this idea. he's really only touching about 3 pedals lol everything is banks and a tap tempo.

hello jeffrey .... I live in Brazil and I want to start playing at the church. Would you recommend the line 6 helix? or pedals like yours, I find installation and adjustment difficult .. and the price too what do you think?
Hi Jeffrey, love the video and love your sound. I have a question regarding your ernie ball volume pedal. Have you ever had issues with causing white noise? I have been playing electric guitar for sometime now and I'm having a terrible time with hiss and all. I have tried and tried and tried to figure what's going on, but can seem to find any solution. I have even had the EB modded because I was told it splits the tuner out with the out jack. Had a buffer put on and it still creates hiss. Can you help? I've been to Guitar center, I've had techs look at my rig. It's tiresome. I want a clean sound.
Rich, in order to really figure out the hiss, start by taking everything away, just play your guitar into your amp. If there is hiss, you may have to check the pickups of your guitar, shield them, etc. If the signal is clean, start by adding back in one pedal/item at a time. When you start getting the hiss again, you should know what the offending pedal/item is. Don't change guitars or locations when you do this, keep all the variables the same, then you should be able to get to the bottom of the issue. Sorry you are having such a frustrating time! Good luck figuring it out.
So you can't use your volume pedal unless your drive pedal loop is engaged? But not on it's own loop that is just always on? So its after the out of bank 6 and before the input of bank 7 and you can't use it unless 6 and 7 are engaged?? I'm trying to figure out if I put it (and a NS2) on their own loop which will always be on or just put it before everything including the drive pedals...I mean, I don't as of yet have any use for fading in distortion but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want it and I get why a volume pedal is after the drive pedals...But I typically just use it on clean swells.

Jeffrey, appears those looper switches are clickless? Any issues with a split second sound cut out when engaging them? Curious, I have a new Walrus Audio Transit looper that is clickless and it cuts out slightly when engaging. Walrus Audio said sorry, nothing we can do and that's how those switches just are? Thx, just curious.
Hey man, when I got the DPC8EZ it was doing the same thing so I contact Disaster Area and they called it their "automatic noise reduction" but on this looper you can either turn it on or off. Maybe the Walrus one doesn't have this feature? Anyway, on this one you can turn it off. Hope this helps.
What do you do when you have long cable runs? Do you still use the sgi boxes?

This is AMAZING
Good stuff for a (live recording album), it looks very complicated to memorize the presets for each song specially if you play different songs at church every Sunday, and I also think it takes time to program the presets of each song. I rather play live and experience with new sounds and combination of pedal effects on live performances.
There is a very good alternative to these Disaster Area controllers: Morningstar MC6. The things he described can easily be done with the MC6 right out of the box, plus it is smaller in size. Just saying ;)
Are you no longer using the Little Black Buffer from JHS? Didn't see it on the board.

This is a VERY good set-up, however it has its own problems. This seems very complicated, but hey this is his stuff, he can do whatever he wants. I have a pretty similar setup, but I got two good multi-effect pedals and two drive pedals. Right now I have the Line6 m13, digitech element xp, Boss sd-1 and tc-electronic Mojo Mojo. I like this setup because I can essentially do the same things as him but I believe it's wayyy cheaper (Still not at all cheap). My m13 basically holds all the comps., wet effects and pog like effects and everything, then the digitech is basically my Eq, and gives my guitar more color if it's a darker guitar. (Basically acts like the Rc booster). So keep pretty standard drive settings and swap through banks on the multi effect pedals.
Down side of this setup is... if you don't choose your multi effects wisely, you might be able to get the tone you want. But check out the m13, it's an AWESOME pedal!!
Hope this could possibly help give someone ideas for the pb setup :)

Hello Jeffery thanks for the insight. I a guitarist in a small church in Aust. and wish to add testy sound to our worship. unfortunately I can't afford to buy all the needed gear now. I have Hall of fame reverb, a small delay pedal, vox VT20, compressor and a volume pedal. I have been planning on buying timeline Delay. but wondering if there is a more important pedal I can buy to improve our worship as a lead player.
Have you considered the Vox delaylab? I just bought one, and it is absolutely phenomenal. Also, do you have a good transparent overdrive?

notice the signal drop from dry signal to when he stomps the first effect (compressor) should have gotten a bit louder but it sounded worse instead
While you CAN make your sound louder with a compressor, that's not really what it's designed to do. It's just made to even out dynamics.
I understand that but to me it sounds like he's losing to much signal through all those pedals and cables. Nothing to do with the compression
anthony serrato nah there's a level control on the deep six so that's just the way he has it set it up. It's probably not exactly set up for how he plays live anyway

dude your life would be WAY EASIER if you used the musicomlab for midi and looping then you could just hit one button it would let you choose whatever pedal you want with whatever preset on the timeline and bigsky so lets say you want like the comp, with specific timeline preset and bigsky preset you hit one button and it changes all them at once.

I'm not a big fan of presets and such, I don't think you should play the same song exactly the same every time.
If you're in your own band, or are in a band where the arrangements (or vocalist) are flexible, you can get away with that. In the hired gun world, it may not be your choice. Many pro gigs you are expected to reproduce the same song every song, every night.
For me, it's too complicated , too many layers to negotiate. For you, I can see it is gig specific, to have specific settings for specific sets. Good on you for creating a custom rig for what you do.

Usually when he uses Badcat, he uses his custom Luca. He also has an Ac30 that he uses in a lot of his videos(which is the amp on the right)
I wonder if he could do a whole concert with just a compressor, delay and drive pedal. Nothing else. No tuners or volume pedals.

I have to ask why I see people when they play a note ( they don't even realize they're doing this) Everytime something is played they automatically press down on the whammy bar.Even if it serves no real purpose, they do this every time.
Why must we hear a little whammy bar movement whenever the guitar player plays something ? Almost like there spanking the monkey.
For example..The Beatles.When you listen to the great records ... Abbey road, Revolver, Sergeant pepper, Let It be ,..you don't hear the whammy bar being pressed down on the guitar at the end of every piece of guitar melody .Now that I think about it I would say you don't hear John, Paul or George doing that at all.I guess it's just a habit the new generation does..

Impressive to some but you're dancing all over the shop. Mind you this is 2014, hopefully by now the use of a controller is covering all your options. Try to recall every preset, every method to get there every night every gig same time same channel and vocals at same time....working way too hard. You will lose the fun of on the fly knowing the rig so well you can just make it happen. Glad you like the gear but simplicity agrees with tone.
