DIY Budget CAMPERVAN Conversion - Our CAMPERVAN BUILD Journey Starts HERE! vlog. We thought we’d create a series of vlogs chronicling the conversion of our old panel van HELSING (did you see what we did there?) into a weekend warrioring campervan for ADVENTURING and EXPLORING in the UK.
But WHO are WE? We’re Scarlett, Craig and Merlin and along with Helsing, form the PILGRIM PODS!
Each vlog will cover a stage or smaller element of our campervan build, showing our ideas put into action and highlighting our SUCCESSES and FAILURES along the way. With no previous experience this may make for an interesting journey! Our plan is to convert a cheap van on a small budget without cutting corners and at the end, have a campervan to be proud of. We’re hoping you’d like to join us for this journey and that you find our uploads ENTERTAINING and even, INFORMATIVE!
So, in our first vlog we’d like to introduce ourselves, share our plans and show you around Helsing before we make a start turning the old UGLY DUCKLING into a rough and ready, hard as nails… SWAN?

After seeing this from start to finish merlin has worked his magic there what a great project
Thanks! He's a great Project Manager. 🤔😁🙌
Great videos mate keep up the good work
Cheers Wooly, appreciate that. 🙂👍
Re watching and think it is only manners to comment. Every van should have a few bumps, battle scars give them character😀👍
I'll try and remember that when I'm moaning to Scarley about the dent behind the side loading door. 😁👍💙❤
REnjoying your journey.
Thanks Peter. All the best mate. 🙂👍
Only just spotted your channel and Looking forward to watching your camper build 🛺🐶🛺
Cheers Scott! 😊🍻 It's all a learning curve; van conversion and video editing, but we're making good (if not a little slow) progress with both. 😁🙌 Started on the interior only this last week and am hoping progress will ramp up now! It's a fun project and we can't wait to get out in it. 🙂👍
Laughed after seeing those glove boxes with the clips on them my boss old work vans all flew open when you accelerated off the line
😄
Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. But you are right there are lots of videos, how to diy things out there. Love the name for the Van
Hello there hows campervan life treating you now hows van holding up all those vans up and down the country had paint issue I would very interested to hear from you 😊
Great work first of all I thought it was Messi doing a van build 😅
Been a long time since anyone's drawn that comparison! If you squint and cover your eyes with your hands I think you may be on to something! 😆🍻
If you are in the Peak District at a weekend let us know and we can meet up. Amble is off the road at the mo so we are only getting to the Peaks to stay in our caravan
Hope Amble gets back on the road soon. We think some epic Mavic Mini drone footage is in order! And thanks again, a meet up would be lovely. 😊💙❤
@@PilgrimPods have sent you a message on Instagram
I love the way you presented the video, explain... But what I do not like is that music is very loud and I miss more details (like prices, mesaurements....). And like I am telling you I love the series.
Thanks! Yeah... volume seems to be an issue on some devices. I set the peaks to -3db for all clips which levels out the sound across the video and then manually adjust clips to improve the overall experience. I think I need to lower all music used in the videos by a few decibels below the speech for a more pleasant listen. I'll crack it in the next video and beyond. Thanks for the positive feedback, appreciate it. 🙂👍
I've got a swb renault master and have the bed width ways I got to lie at bit of an angle but it's ok.
I think I'll be the same as you here sleeping at an angle! Good job Scarley is short so I can pinch some of her space. Really appreciate you checking our channel out and taking the time to comment. 👍😊
Really, How tall are you that you can sleep width ways in a Renault Master?
Just came across your channel as one of our videos is a suggestion from one of yours. Where are you from as your accent sounds proper West Mids. We are from the West Mids.
Hey guys I'm (Craig) from Hednesford originally and Scarlett's from great Haywood. We moved to Tamworth about five years ago. We'll check your channel out tonight for some evening viewing! 😀🍻
@@PilgrimPods thank you, that's nice of you! I'm from Bearwood in Smethwick and Karl is from Erdington in Birmingham. (I'm Helen!) We also have a rescue husky called Nanook. We are selling up to go full time. I've subscribed to your channel as I love to hear a local accent!
I am thinking on doing the same. Buying a 5000 euro van with 270k km... It's worth it. Please help me 😄
Do it! 😀 Best of luck mate!
How did you get that for a little over a grand?
It was £1500 with 170k on the clock and a decent sized dent next to a wheel arch. Then there is the nasty paint job... That £1500 doesn't feel so cheap now. Part of us wishes we paid a little more for something a bit tidier but we are where we are now. New cheap paint job incoming this week hopefully! 🤞
@@PilgrimPods Assuming it's mechanically sound you've just got an amazing bargain there. No idea what I'd do about the dents but on my budget a roller paint job would do. You've done really well for that price.
Hope you are thoroughly logging each purchase. The way this is progressing I expect you to eventually do a video where you enjoy bragging about how much you did while spending so little.
@@tine8849 it was the mechanics which sold us to be honest. We bought it March but early February it had £1400 spent on injectors and a few other things pre-MOT by the old owner. Unfortunately he passed away and his daughter sold the van to us... What van are you converting?
@@PilgrimPods I haven't got anywhere near as far as choosing a van. Since all this year's holiday plans have gone up in smoke I'm working out if I take that £2k I had saved, can I really make a start on building something for a nice holiday next year.
