Kingfishers like little places to perch right beside or over looking the stream. You can place a few nicely cut sticks and place them in areas that are quiet and clear so you can view them. I suggest a 4ft stick with a little branch * 3 inchs will do on top end , place them into the bank, maybe 50 ft apart. They will use them. Do try it.

I don't know where you two are from, I can't place your accents but I don't think you are northerners!
You both went to Madrid for the CL final, you, somewhere, put up a Pic on the screen of VVD and you have a red van. Obviously there is some connection with Liverpool FC here.
Assuming you still have no name for the V-dub, my suggestion would therefore be something connected with The Reds...
the Kop Kamper or the Red Rover, etc.
Or maybe, how about just "Birdy", celebrating Alex's love of birds, the first sighting of a Kingfisher, the wandering Peacock in the driveway during the bed build, and of course, my love of Robin Redbreasts.
Only just found your channel this evening and have binge watched 7 episodes so far and loving it all. Fantastic Aquarien couple, well worth Subbing and clicking that dingdong for.

All closed-cell insulation materials are expensive. Open-cell (insulation) does NOT provide a vapour barrier. Anyway, I agree 100% doing that sound deadening as if you have ever driven a motorhome or campervan, the noise can be horrendous at times.

Great job guys. Love the thoughts for the roof. I'm 62 yrs old and attempting to convert my red Renault Trafic. Note to self, don't do this in Winter. I put my insulation in using a hair dryer to heat both the insulation and the van wall before sticking! Now waiting for the right temperature for the expanding foam. Glad I'm not the only 1st time dummy out there. 👏👏👏

Morning Emma and Alex. Im so glad you managed to get that death trap of a van back to them and get your money back. As an ex car body shop worker. Id not have spent the time money and effort on that death trap it should of been sent to a scrap yard but i bet some one has bought it thinking thay will do all the welding on it them selves. It should of been sent to the scrap yard long ago. I love how your into doing all the van build Emma and Alex is off bringing home the bacon to pay for the van build. Looking forward to see the rest of your new van build videos. If your putting solar on the van please will you make a long video about witch solar system you went for and if its better than other systems on the market for van life and the cost of the system if you fit it your self. This is something im very interested in before i go out and spend money on a solar system for my self. Ps as someone who also suffers from long long term depression i no ware your both coming from take care of your selfs. Patrick

I honestly can't see the appeal of these VW day vans other than their previous iconic history. For those who travel substantial distances, I see them as being far from suitable. My build was simple:
I purchased a 2008 Ford Transit High Top Ex Welfare Van. (Reason being is these are meticulously serviced by the companies who owned them - and also pretty much all, if not most, have Eberspacher Diesel Heaters already installed that run when the engine is off). Also powerful battery inverters are usually with these vans.
I gutted the van and insulated it, applied ply wood around the van.
Had two skylight windows cut out and pop up windows installed.
Had a Carpenter come in and make a raised bed frame (for storage under the bed) with a seating bench.
Ordered a flat-packed kitchen from Devon with a twin hob gas ring cooker and electric tap/pump. A caravan company made sink holes in the cabinet for where the gas canisters were stored and also a waste pipe
I bought foam from a shop and found a lady who tailored these with good quality material for the front bench.
Found a company in West Sussex who custom make mattresses and had it made to fit the bed.
Bought a Camper Geyser for outdoor use to shower and for hot water.
Water tanks were positioned under the bench and bed.
I bought vinyl for the floor which made it easy to wash down the floor after jumping in and out whilst on my daily missions.
I could stand up in the van. Move around. Comfortably cook. Was warm... Didn't have to collapse and make a bed every day.
I don't want to knock your project as its cool but these are what I describe as day vans. For true inspiration of long distance travel vehicles and something almost liveable in, I would look more towards Race Vans where people take their bikes to the tracks and have a place to shower, eat and sleep.
This was all done for around £2,000 - £2,500 (excluding the cost of the van which cost me £5,000)
    Good luck!

  • @rhodesvans
    @rhodesvans 3 роки тому

always take out the front row of seats and door cards so you can add sound deadening and insulation all the way to the firewall and in the front doors, otherwise, you end up with a cold draw from the front of the van. Apply sound deadening on the floor and two layers over the wheel arches to make a massive difference in noise when driving and then add insulation, ,as I say to all my customers view your van as a thermos flask it will be the only as good as least insulated part. and if you want to stay cooler or warmer you need more insulation. so a 4 season camper will need more insulation than this fair-weather install.

To keep the insulation on the floor tip-top I'd have put down some timber battens so reduce the possibility of compressing the insulation. :)

Wow! pop-top, that's super cool. Game changer. The layout seems similar to what I'm thinking.
The body looks great!! Can't wait to see it come together. : )

That BIG Crease would do my head in. It would have to be done properly I couldn't leave it like that. Well done for having a go tho
