  • We're at the ply lining and 4-way stretch carpeting stage of our campervan build. As always, in this video we'll show you how we personally decided to tackle this part of our DIY budget campervan conversion, offering our unique perspective. We'll provide tips and tricks on getting a great finish with no prior experience and give the reasoning behind our decision making. Carpet on the van walls is definitely a (relatively) cheap, cheerful and easy solution for achieving an awesome looking finish!
    Below are some of the links* for bits and bobs we have used in this video.

    So WHO are WE? We’re Scarlett, Craig and Merlin and along with Helsing, form the PILGRIM PODS!
    If you enjoy this video why not check out some of our other content? Delve even deeper into our channel; we thought we’d create a series of vlogs chronicling the conversion of our old panel van HELSING (did you see what we did there?) into a weekend warrioring campervan for ADVENTURING and EXPLORING in the UK.
    Each vlog will cover a stage or smaller element of our campervan build, showing our ideas put into action and highlighting our SUCCESSES and FAILURES along the way. With no previous experience this may make for an interesting journey! Our plan is to convert a cheap van on a small budget without cutting corners and at the end, have a campervan to be proud of. We’re hoping you’d like to join us for this journey and that you find our uploads ENTERTAINING and even, INFORMATIVE!

    Here's an idea, if the fridge gets hot, why not put two fans and ducts one to external (For summer) and the second to vent it into the van for a heat source? switch between the two fans, could even use a thermostat in the van to automatically change over when the van is up to temp.

      Thanks Arno, sorry for the slow reply mate. I've bought the cheapish Bosch one as I like the brand and it has good reviews for DIYers. Just chucked a link in the description for the exact model. I purchased it because I thought it would come in useful for the cabinetry and there's been times working on the house in the past one would have came in really useful and I've just bodged a workaround (like on the batten at the head of the bed in this video). All the best mate. 🙂🍻

    Do you really want a radiant heat source under your bed mattress? In summer your van will be hot enough at night without your fridge heating up your bed, not to mention fire risk! Should raise the fridge off the floor by at least 20mm as well to let the cool fresher air in and exhaust out via the holes at the top (convection)!!

    • @PilgrimPods
      @PilgrimPods  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Glen, ideally the fridge wouldn't be under the bed but we felt it was a compromise we had to make for our needs. The heat generated will be monitored and if need be a sheet of insulation will be placed above the fridge. If there was still any concern I'll install a couple of PC fans to move the air and aid efficiency of the fridge; it won't be a fire risk. The fridge doesn't need a 20mm gap beneath it and was installed following the manufacturer's instructions. Thanks for checking the video out mate. 🙂🍻

      Cost £199 fully comp for a 2007 van. Think that's with 8 years no claims and parked on a drive. Of course there's so many variables to consider as I'm sure you're aware; the postcode being an example! 😄
