♒︎ WHO ARE WE?
We are Gabe and Paula (Pau). We bought our van at the beginning of the 2020 with the idea of converting it during the weekends. But then, because of the global pandemic that has changed all our lives we suddenly found ourselves with a lot of time on our hands! After finishing at the beginning of August we started our epic journey to Spain to see Paula's family.

The way that you're grandmother help you like awww to cute
Grandma come out to help to guys so sweet 😀
She's the best :)
I love that you used her hair for insulation in the van. That's recycling to the highest degree😉. All joking aside, great job! I admire your perseverance and wish you all the best.
It's the electrical system that intimidates me. Well done you two!
You'll be fine. There are lots of videos on youtube. At some point we'll do a video about ours :)
@@gabeandpau2243 Awesome build, love the video!!! Got some questions if you don't mind! Did you get an electrician in to do it, or check it over at the end? I second that that seems to be the most daunting to me. P.s. careful with those gas stoves, do you have a good carbon monoxide detector and good ventilation when cooking? I saw you have that huge fan, maybe thats good enough? I'd still cook with doors open :) When we do ours, I'm hoping to put our stove at the back so you could potentially slide it out to the outside of the van when cooking. Btw, with those mattress slats, a lot of sweat etc will escape from the mattress (Just put one flat on the floor for a couple of weeks and watch the mould grow), any concern that that might be an issue with all those electrics underneath?
@@redfox05nl it will be fine, the electricity won't harm the mould 🤔.
One of the best insulation jobs I have seen done DIY. I imagine the effects of it are extremely noticeable, especially in very hot climates and direct sun. Nice work! You've got me considering DIY instead of going to a builder.
i admire you both working together as a team, nicely done good job!!! best wishes in all you guys do.
This making the whole lifestyle approachable thank you both for documenting it. !!
It went from like 50% done when they put in the rear windows to 100% done at the end. 😂 feel like I'm missing some steps
Haha! We had to concentrate on the build for the last couple of weeks due to time pressure of leaving for Spain :)
The Bit when the nan stops for a chat then after you both stop and have a personal moment. was good to see it being built with love
Amazing! Good to see you both working together so well, too. Great team! ❤️
love how Nan was getting involved- Bless
Wonderful workmanship and harmony between the two of you!
Really enjoyed watching, I thought for a minute you weren't going to get it finished watching the little red line on the bottom of the video!
Well done!
U guys have accomplished so difficult task. congratulations & Thank U for capturing whole thing.
No worries :) thanks for watching!
WELL done to the both of you fantastic job you have done on the van, now hit the road and have lots of fun wish you both well

Thanks Paolo :) it was hard work but 100% worth it!!!!
No words for your effort... Got tears on my eyes..

It’s a really nice song, so I googled the lyrics and found it. Enjoy.
Thanks for finding this, loved the song too!
Thanks bro
It is amazing. Remember to add soft material near edge of each sharp corner. Let's Go
Great advice :)
Hello
Hi,
Thank you for making and posting these videos...I have watched three of them so far and I am hooked!
My wife and I really want to convert a van in the future and love looking at others going through the process and getting ideas and of course costs, and what you would want to change/make different...which you have covered in your other videos!
Brilliant!
We look forward to going through the other videos that you have made!
Fantastic!
Inspiring!
Can't wait to watch more!
Michelle and Andy.
Great video, it's cool to see a project come this far in one video. Hopefully our van will look more like yours someday.
Thank you so much! It takes a lot of work but it's totally worth it! Good luck with your build :) stay in touch!
Nicely done! You certainly earned the rewards of your hard work. I wish you many and safe travels.
Excellent job guys. I have just subscribed and I am looking fwd to watching the rest of your adventures while I am out and about. ☺☺

Nice video and such a great couple. I pray I get a sprinter soon since I’ve been working tirelessly for one🤞🏽 as well as an understanding partner such as her🥂😎 Amen🙏🏽
Spinters are the best! We work together really well :) Good luck!
Thanks mate🥂
😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
I know what you want?
THIS is MY Sprinter!! Thx 4 showing me how 2 convert it. I added a rear view 170° camera and a shower 2 it.
Van twins! :) That's a great idea! We just use the tap haha
Hi 👋
Huh? You wrote "No previous experience" ?? What a fantastic job you both did! I'm a Mechanical Engr so I count myself as qualified to say so. Everything seemed to be done with skill & logic. Don't worry about all the indecisions along the way as you do a "Design-Build" project. I'm impressed. Have fun! 😁😁😁
An ordinary cargo car has been reborn as a nice camping car. And with your own hands.
It's a lot of fun, but the things I'm going to use are more fun and have dreams.
I enjoy remodeling the van myself.
Thank you for the lovely comment :) it's so much fun!
Took up a lot of headspace with that floor design, I would've drawn up blueprints and added mounting points for anything attached to the floor, then I would've re-used that plastic floor piece you pulled out, just would've re-carpeted it.
Awesome video guys! You really put a lot of work into this conversion! It looks really great!
Thanks Todd! A lot of hard work but definitely worth it😊
Pauliiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me encanta vuestro canal. Keep it up :)
Gracias guapa!😍😍
Perfect couple. Good job. good continuation 👏👏👍
Camping, living in van, manual labour, renovations... I'll surely hate the lot. Yet watching you guys making it all happen is so strangely satisfying.
Enjoy it and have a great time on your travels!
This comment is amazing! Thank you so much. We're glad you liked it :) hope you're doing well
You two are awesome !! The soundtrack, ie. background music was right on point. Great job.
Thanks Neville!😊

Very nice van conversion. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.
Hello from Brazil. I love this video , this synchrony.
Thank you so much!😍
Nice job. Awesome video. Thanks.
Thank you Jamie :)
That's a great video. I live in Japan, but I've remodeled my car. Cars provide infinite enjoyment.
The freedom is amazing right!?
Doesn't the shinny side go facing the outside of the van to reflect the heat?🤔
Great teamwork :)
We love working together :)
A beautiful build. Nice one.
Clean job 👏
Great work, really enjoyed the video, have liked and subscribed. Hope you have great adventures in your van x
Thank you so much for your support!😍
Did anyone else cry when they painted the wood?
I was shocked when I saw they didn't protect wood with some treatment on back side. Also wool is not a great choice because hold moisture.
I to thought a light varnish would give it a warm look, but each to their own.
Thanks for the video. Nice to see a lot of insulation in the van. Lots of converters do a poor job insulating vans and will be sorry later. Enjoy your trips.
Thank you! Good insulation is definitely essential😁
Me encantooo !!!
De todos los videos que e visto en camperizacion ,la Van de ustedes es la mejor ❤️
I've never seen such commitment to insulation before in my life! That thing must be like a Swedish sauna in the summer...
swedish saunas are cold as fuck, try finnish saunas they are the best
@@TJO1733 One day I will dude, if we can ever leave this island I am on currently....and your words of advice will resonate in my ears as I am sweating my ass...
Bonjour, bravo a vous pour cette superbe conversion.

How are you doing
Awesome job, guys! Hope you have many safe and enjoyable miles in the camper Very inspirational video!
OMG Wow! What a big love cave!
Fair play I’ve literally just done the exact same thing bar the back windows!! Enjoy 🙂
What van have you got?😊
@@gabeandpau2243 Sprinter MWB! Did it over lockdown! Will eventually get a video up of the build when i can :)
What an amazing work 👍👍👍👍
Looked great and I was very impressed but do you think that you added a significant amount of weight? Could you have found maybe something at certain areas like the overhead compartments to lessen the work of your suspension? And is that something that you will customize as well? Using a heavier shock or spring will help with control while driving. Just an idea..looks good..
Well done! Enjoy it as much as you can!
I love the Guatemala coffee curtain!!! Good one, maybe more about how it looks finished. Gracias por compartir!
Beautiful. Great teamwork!
i have a question that id been wondering- im a 17 year old currently working at mcdonalds and coming close to graduation- this is something im really considering to do with my life, ive never had my own room or my own space to do what i want. doing vanlife and being self sustained seems really freaking cool to me i just have 1 question to the van lifers and it might seem dumb but i really need to know, if i buy a van from a dealership would i be able to use it like on this video?
I've seen this thumbnail long time ago but just only now curious to watch and its wonderful...keep on making video.
Amazed at what you achieve and the time lapse is the best way to show this project off. Are you able to give an estimate of what your costs are?
ua-cam.com/video/KIr1e6NwsYc/v-deo.html
I am converting a van in the new year (with no experience). I've watched loads of videos, but no-one explains how to attach wooden battens to the metal shell of the van. It looked like you glued them to the floor?. And then it is pilot holes and self tapping screws on the sides and ceiling?.
I wish someone would do a video for dummies just on that aspect of a van build😂 x
Hi Donna! Yes it can be a little confusing. For the floor we glued them with sealant and filled the gaps with Celotex. For the walls, we used self tapping screws that went straight into the metal of the van (watch out for the length as you don't want screws poking out of the van!). Finally, for the ceiling we attached them with a metal bar to the ribs of the van. Have a look at our van build series as it's explained a bit more in detail (ua-cam.com/video/86D46hX_9kQ/v-deo.html) but if you still have questions you can comment or drop us an email!😊
Aww thanks for getting back to me, I'm fairly handy at bodging DIY in the house, but I know in a van conversion, certain things need to be done properly, otherwise there could be problems down the line. I will check out your link. Thanks again xx
