So it’s been a few months since this video, and my opinions on this video have changed. I definitely should have included the PS2 versions of Yakuza 1 and 2’s music. If this list were made today, these 3 would be much higher; Yokohama Crackhouse What a FUNKTASTIC Hit Funk Goes On (PS2) Meanwhile, these 3 would be lower; Isolated Fight One Eyed Slugger Bruise And I wouldn’t change the placement of Ryu-Kyu humming. I’ve gotten a lot of comments about that, and my opinion hasn’t changed; it’s still among the weakest Yakuza battle themes.
the reason why Majima's themes are better than Kiryu's themes in 0 is because Majima's styles are all about show, tons of stylish moves and creative ways to finish the enemies, so their themes are like that, stylish and quick, while Kiryu's styles are simple and straight, moves that does their work, no need to do sick flips or breakdance, just punches, kicks, grabs, etc, thats why his themes are like that, straight and simple to represent their styles. At least thats my point of view
@@dogman3075 I totally get why it’s on the bottom which includes the lack of climatic instrumentation, but dudes did it dirty with the reasoning. The song is far from boring. From the guitar riff accompanied by the indescribably vocals, then you have the second half of the song with the funky percussion. This song is perfect for pummeling people to the ground to the beat. (I will admit I never played Yk3, I wish I had time 😢)
tbh massive fire and hailstorm should swap places (in games not in the rank), the sluggish hailstorm fits the sluggish traumatized yakuza 4 saejima who just wants to see his sister again, while the intense massive fire fits the herculean yakuza 5 saejima who just wants to kill bears in peace
When I think of Dragon of Dojima style, I always think of Receive You: Tech Trance. It's gotta be my favorite song in all of Yakuza. Slaps harder than a heat action.
Me too my friend, Tech Trance has always been my favorite theme in any Yakuza game. I don't think I've met anyone else with that opinion though. It is so hype, and I think it captures the best of this franchise.
Speed Star fits a more wild Akiyama, since in 4 he is just a man who wants "civilian on civilian" street fights under his guise of owning Sky Finance. In the office, he is charismatic, levelheaded and cool. But on the streets, he doesn't hold back in fighting. The song reflects that, being fast-paced but also having a calm moment in it. Essentially "slowing down". Assuming players go for 5 immediately after 4, they already know the story and major personality of Akiyama, he has improved as a person and accepted that not everything in his past will come back. He moves forward with the future, even establishing another office in Sotenbori. Affected Fight is as it implies, a man (Affected) by change in his life. His arc in 4, that is. It's very relaxed compared to Speed Star, but that's because he's still warming up to the idea that not every fight has to be fought at full power.. But when he does, so does the song. But honestly, it's up to preference. I prefer Speed Star, but I can't deny the climax of Affected Fight that really brings out his character in full force.
Hailstorm's entire structure feels built around the chorus. I can see why people prefer Massive Fire because of that old-school feel, but forgetting that badass rise is blind bias.
One of my favorite battle themes in the series that I discovered recently is "Blood Maker" form RGG Kenzan. I would also consider Kenzan to have one of the best soundtracks in the series and it's a fun game too.
This is the main franchise if you include all the other games like judgement and kurohyou they would probably dominate the list especially your knife feels good.
ngl your commentary is much better than smokey's. Smokey is so vague in his wording and like he doesn't even try to make an argument. Doesn't even reference specific parts all that well
If your not counting the Judgment games, I'd say that my top 3 would be: Outlaws Lullaby, Town Bully, and Speed Star for sure. But out of all RGG's games it would have to be Ferocious Red from Lost Judgment.
Wish you included the ps2 music too. Outlaw lullaby is basically the same and one or my favorites but some of the other Battle themes would be near the top for sure. Imo the og music is way better than the kiwami's with a few exceptions
im only in kiwami 2 at the moment but i have a hard time imagining i will end up loving a theme more than receive you tech arrangement or one-eyed dancer. needless to say im looking forward to hearing all these themes in game.
i dont accept this hailstorm slander…. i l love how dark and menacing it sounds and i think it fits saejima well i also love those cop sirens playing through it!
I won't lie I'm surprised that "t u s k" wasn't here cause that song just fills me with this chaotic and grim determination that screams "YEAH I WILL GO AGAINST EVERY SINGLE RULE, EVEN IF IT IS GONNA CAUSE ME HARM, AND YEAH, I WILL HAVE FUN KICKING OBJECTS INTO YOU WHILE I DO IT"
Ryu-Kyu Humming sounds like a song that playes durring a montage on a TV show. Every time I listen to it I expect it to quiet down for 20 seconds so that the chef can explain why crushing bell peppers with your hands is better than cutting them or something before the montage resumes
Hands down recieve you tech trance is my personal favorite and what I think as thy Yakuza fighting song I would say theme because well its based off yakuza theme recieve you Which the song itself recieve you does slap Gets you going, fired up ready to hand out ass whooping It has its peaks and the lows fits perfectly the guitar is perfect I craved it the vocals rolling eyes fall ruling dies out Hmm Wündenbar
Thug style to me is Majima fighting dirty and unpredictable to compensate for the lack of an eye also street smarts to find out who’s armed by looking at them
Of course the only person affected from smoking has the most bopping street fight song. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future Akiyama canonically has asthma.
I honestly don’t think there’s a bad Yakuza normal battle theme, kinda feels like a reach when trying to justify putting the lower songs in their places, but you don’t really need reasons, music is entirely subjective after all. If I had to rank them all, I’d have no idea where to start.
@@FullyB8ked In yakuza 5 during Kiryu’s chapters you’ll begin the Victory Road Tournament side quest where some random encounters will instead contain one standard enemy with a bit more health, the side quest will then eventually carry on to the other characters until the final chapter where it is then completed. I read the pinned comment just now so I assume that this does not count as an individual character’s theme.
the hailstorm hate is sinful. Its an amazing theme and fits Saejima well also affected fight kinda mid sorry pretty bland even though i like it. Like listening to a bad singing voice

I really liked Ryu-kyu Humming since it sounds tropical yet maintains the aggressive sound of a battle theme.
It is what the name is, ryu-kyu humming, humming aint got no climax! just pure chill and the only intense vibe provoked by its rythm
It kinda reminds me of a football game in mallorca for some reason which is why i love it.
I mean i am not a football fan but still.

I agree at that
I know music taste is subjective but damn 💀
Yeah like wtf lol
I gasped hearing Ryukyu humming is last
This video is like
Trying not to click off the video challenge
Order sol pfp nice
People having uncommon opinions is a good thing if every ranking was the same I wouldn’t watch it
Ryu Ku humming got done dirty 😔
Yeah, unfortunately, even in a video full of bangers, one of them must be in last.
I havent played Y3 yet, Still on YK2 but listening to that piece makes me instantly fall in love with that battle theme.

dunno man, hailstorm sounds alot more chill than massive fire, which fits more relaxed saejima character in 5
Same with Force addiction and Parry because force because you seem to do more parrying with brawler and a lot more weak punches with rush
@@Swig_Chmeese Yeah but that's just a title thing, the songs still fit their respective fighting styles

It's just the theme of "The Dragon" it's like you are tasting the song and the style, it's perfect
Town Bully is basically: Man, fuck them kids!: The Theme
Exactly 🦅
big respect for the affected fight's composer
Thanks, Akiyama

Hard agree
Don’t get me wrong affected right is amazing and better than speed star but yeah when it comes to playing as akiyama speed star just feels better
Hailstorm's entire structure feels built around the chorus.
I can see why people prefer Massive Fire because of that old-school feel, but forgetting that badass rise is blind bias.
Hailstorm's good, but it's too slow for you to actually ever get to the good part (same with Affected Fight)
a guy just trow a damn table at kiryu and he just dont care 23:04
He’s too pissed off in Y6 to care.

Kenzan is super disrespected
You guys forgot the mad dog, majima's theme in the majima saga, its really good
Love the respect for infinite handcuffs we need Tanimura back fr
2:34 Smokey you did that perfectly
Force Addiction. If you know, you know.
Should've include the ps2 yakuza 1 and 2 battle themes.
Yakuza 2 sampled 36 Chambers, ofc it should be here
Aw hell nah Ryu-Kyu Humming on the bottom
this video is a definite 10 out of 10 years in the joint
I heard funk goes on 5 min in and just got taken aback
it's top3 for me
EDIT: NEXT IS YOKOHAMA CRACKHOUSE? also in my top 3 damn diff taste
To me Force Addiction is more like an unrefined Isolated Fight than Recieve You.
I thought you were gonna say that Masssive Fire is called that because that's what the song is; 🔥
My goofy ass actually likes hailstorm, and I personally enjoy it way more than parry addiction ngl
What about Kurohyou? No "Your knife feels good" or "Die Anyway"? No "Kamuro Encounter" or "Epic 80"?

I agree, funk goes on in the ps2 version of yakuza 1 goes hard.
The Vocals in The Myth is what made it my all time favorite Kiryu theme.
Also... Unpopular opinion I prefer Speedstar over Affected Fight.

Alright but WHERE would Bring It On be if you made this video after Gaiden's release?
No (Crush & Strike)?
I love how Force addiction and Crash addiction kinda feel like two sides of the same coin.
