Hilarious when you reach the subscribe portion of this video and Marss says “Oh what’s that?” And then the short version of the quit smoking ad with the metal monster plays 😂😂😂
I'm pretty sure the reason Marrs Falcon seems confusing is because he's much more skilled in general. What I mean by that is, he doesn't play with predetermined blueprint for what he wants to do in the match like every other Falcon. Each decision is custom, thought up in that exact moment rather than him just fishing for a specific sequence all the time.
Theres a term for this, and its called flowcharting, and its one of the most important aspects in optimizing a character. Back in smash 4, for example, sheik was optimized to an incredible degree, which was why she was considered a top 2 character (besides the DLC. #4 if you count Bayo/Cloud) - if the character with the best framedata in the game touches you twice, you basically just die. Think like Luigi, except you don’t get to try and SDI. This can also be seen in this game, with VoiD’s Sheik, DWizzy’s Mario, and even with Kola’s Roy, who rely on those kinds of true strings to rack up percent. In theory, if two players playing combo-based characters know their flowcharts, then whoever performs better in neutral will win the set. Compare this to characters who rely more on constant neutral wins (ie, Fox, ZSS, Marcina, Samus), rather than securing stocks off of minimal interactions (ie, Pikachu, Falcon, Luigi, Sheik). ZSS will *always* win neutral more times than Falcon over the course of a set, which is why ZSS wins the matchup, but Falcon will *always* get more damage per neutral win than ZSS will. lts less about “fishing for a specific sequence,” its about knowing the optimal sequence to execute *once* you win neutral. I believe most Smashcoords have resources for their general/theoretical flowcharts, though again, for a perfectly optimized character they will largely be unique for each matchup. So - you’re kind of right? But its less about “being much more skilled,” (Yes, Marss is generally the better player, but Fatality’s been playing this game as a top 50 player for what, 7-8 years? Its not like this is an 0-2’r) and more about how they approach utilizing a characters tools. TL;DR: Yeah, kinda. Flowcharts are really powerful tools for characters who rely on strings, like Falcon, whereas they aren’t as useful for characters like ZSS who rely on constant neutral wins. Which translates to their playerstyle.
@@drcreed6320 While everything you said is correct, I think you misunderstood. Less good players just play for the flowchart without the skill to win neutral convincingly. Fatality has probably never played another Falcon as good as Mars in neutral, especially considering the 10-0 result last time.
@@drcreed6320 And part of why Marss is a good player, especially in neutral, is that he is amazing at creating weird and new situations that even the best players don't yet have flowcharts for. That's what "picking weird options" means.
