    I recall a guy that got banned from Amazon for returning too much stuff. And he really loves and uses Amazon alot. After wks of begging Amazon in emails to let him back. They finally did after he promised to never return anything again..

  • @Myraisins1

    Used to sell on Amazon but yes it got more and more difficult as a small seller. Also difficult dealing with customers who constantly tried to get things for free. Returns also affect the seller. Too many within a certain period would get strikes by Amazon. There are also some bad characters who are sellers. On forums I've heard sellers complaining about their competition who actively tried to sabotage. Near Christmas one seller bought all the competitions inventory and then returned it later. Thanks for sharing and you look handsome BTB!

    On the items that you buy and intentionally choose NOT to have prime shipping bc you are not in a hurry, I wonder how you can max out the benefit. They offer digital credit or other incentives to offset the expense of prime shipping versus economy shipping.

      @@BeatTheBush you are missing the point .... either you are ignorant of the issue, or you forget that sellers can have their account suspended if this is done too often to them .... and when an FBA seller has their account suspended, they potentially can lose their entire inventory (Amazon holds onto it) and lose any money that Amazon hasn't paid out to them at that point, which can be literally thousands of dollars .... what you are suggesting for customers to do, can destroy someone else's life .... is this really okay with you?

Any packages that went to our household also got put on some sort of waiting list as well for verification. I'll ask my buddy for details of what actually happened. But long story short they said he was abusing the system, he would call in and immediately ask for a 1 month extension for free. All I can say is its highly unlikely they will indefinitely extend your Amazon prime for free.

    • @BeatTheBush

      @@BeatTheBush It's hard to say its been a few years I may have to go back and check some facts, but I would say we did have quite a number of packages come late within a week. They were suffering from some sort of supply chain issue. I think the argument was each late package warranted a 1 month extension due to it's impact on the consumer (some were for commercial purposes). And they argued since it was one order they would only do 1 month extension for the entire order though it was maybe 8 separate packages coming from different locations. The majority was late. Regardless I think it was only a one month extension and it happened multiple times over the course of a few months. I know for fact he did eventually get banned, they said they had no obligation to serve have him as a customer, refunded a prorated version of his prime membership and was not allowed to order on Amazon. I believe he had to move, change his address and use multiple credit card aliases to make orders.

    I don't think I've ever payed for return shipping, though I've only returned a few things....I didn't know they even charge return shipping. None of these seemed morally grey or "loopholes". They were all things that Amazon offers you as a customer. Amazon offers returns for any reason. If you don't want an item after seeing it and trying it, that's a perfectly valid reason for return. I think the only morally grey thing about returns would be if you bought an item specifically to use it once and then return it.

    On the subject of fraud...I run a reselling business where we source most of our goods from a store that sells Amazon Returns liquidations for $5ea. I can't tell you how many hundreds of times I have found items where people have intentionally returned fake items/garbage to Amazon and kept the real item. People do that with PC RAM and SSDs all the time. Amazon can't afford to pay people to actually thoroughly inspect all the items that returned to their warehouses, and if the box is even slightly dented/opened they will almost always liquidate it. Buying these returns can really wear on your faith in humanity when you see how scummy people can be. DON'T DO THIS PEOPLE. Anyways, great video BTB, there are lots of good tips packed in there. I, too, hope Amazon plugs a lot of these holes.

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  5 років тому

      Interesting, what would you say the rate of fake item returns? 5%? 10%? What ever it is, you might just look at it and shake your head.

    • @nelsonofalltrades
      @nelsonofalltrades 5 років тому

      @@BeatTheBush I would say if the item is technology, such as PC parts, I would say about 80% of what I find is a fake return. Usually with RAM, people swap out their old RAM for the new stuff and return it for a free RAM upgrade. I purchase these items at a $5 cost, so it's worth the risk on the 20% that isn't fake - most times. I've found about 6 good SSDs in the past year, and 8-10 sticks of good RAM, and 1 intel i7-8700 that works...so it works out, but you just have to have an eye for the fakes before you hand over the cash to buy them.

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  5 років тому

      80%! I think maybe amazon returns might aggregate all the dishonest people returning fake items. They really should at least check it's the same model number like most stores. The way they do it now encourages more moving of products for higher revenues.

    • @nelsonofalltrades
      @nelsonofalltrades 5 років тому

      @@BeatTheBush I would have thought by now that they would do the same...but there's been a solid year I've been buying returns like this and noticing the repeating pattern. I would think it would dramatically hurt Amazon's bottom line, but I think if they liquidate like this it counts as a tax write-off - so it may not hurt them much. It's just lame that people exist that take advantage of the system. What happens when Amazon just decides they don't want to deal with returns anymore? Yes, and as you mentioned, moving the product this way allows them to earn a lot more. Most businesses that have return policies just have to plan to eat losses and hope their profits of selling volume overcomes those losses (plus a return policy helps bolster their reputation by increasing customer satisfaction/trust)

    Also you can keep track of pricing history on most items via Camel Camel Camel. Paste the product link from Amazon into the search bar. If you see an item was going up and down in price, add it to your cart and wait for the price to drop to make sure you're getting the best price on that item. camelcamelcamel.com/

    I really don't get you @BeatTheBush. What's the point of retiring so young if you aren't living a luxurious lifestyle? Surely it'd be better off to work for 5-10 more years, let compound interest do it's magic and then retire in style? Wouldn't that be truer 'financial freedom'?

    • @MsNeelamma
      @MsNeelamma 5 років тому +3

      Yeah! Amazon is the greatest company which makes millions and doesn't pay a dime in taxes, Jeff Bezos has never done any kind of donation /charity, amazon is the company that is philanthropic the least. Have you ever worked in amazon warehouse? They had a huge wall stacks of water bottles, but workers were not allowed to take one! People were so dehydrated pushing carts and lifting heavy boxes, so few took water bottles, and a manager started standing near the stack for watch! 15 min break would end up 5 min break after the time walking to and from the break room. This was before they raised the pay to 15 an hour, which was advertised on news and everywhere, but no one talks about how they treat their employees. My tough running shoes were destroyed in 2 weeks working at the amazon warehouse, my clothes were greasy and worn out (I am not exaggerating), I was so dehydrated standing all day and doing so much physical labor work, that it took me like a week to recover after I quit amazon. I worked for like 3 weeks, that was my first time working at Amazon, I am US Navy veteran mind you, I am not a princess type of woman who never worked with hands. I worked on Super hornets as technician, carried heavy equipments through several narrow stairs up and down on a rocky aircraft carrier

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  5 років тому +1

      What trust system? I only provide the information, you make your own judgements. In fact, I advocate doing spreading this information so everyone knows so that Amazon will make a clear cut stance on this. It's pretty easy to require the same membership to ship to the same address even if you share it.

      @@MsNeelamma Now I understand where you come from. I feel sorry to hear about that. Hope that was a special case.
