Was waiting for the super glue...works better than band aids or dressing and behaves as stitches for deeper cuts (stuff happens - glued together a finger tip that another hiker cut apart like butter [2 distinct flaps] she had one sharp knife no doubt...6 months later finger fully functional scar not even noticed) stings for blisters but works like a champ for miles and sweat won't peel it off. Happy hiking. Stay safe out there. Oh almost forgot and Duct Tape...things break and the stuff works like a champ even in pouring rain ⛈️⛈️⛈️ 😉
Hi, I was interested in the tripod you use but the link actually takes you to the spork on amazon, not the tripod. Could you possibly update the link? Thanks!
Thank you for this. I’ve been practicing packing and carrying my 60L pack on local trails here in the PNW. I felt like I was taking too much, but seeing what you do, I think I’m good. I’ve tried so many tent packing configurations and I actually like doing exactly what you do 😊. You rock, thanks for sharing!
Really appreciate this. Just doing an overnight hike with some family, but it was really useful to find some guidance on where to start. Thanks and have a good one.
Hey just found your channel today on q shorts feed. Really like your content, and this video was very good as i learned about proper weight distribution in my pack. So thank you all the best from the 🇬🇧
Might consider adding a tourniquet to your first aid kit if you don't have one. Hard to tell if you have one in that first aid kit. Also a SWAT-T tourniquet for your dog as the windless type of TQ designed for humans wont work on a dogs leg in most circumstances. I had a buddy fall off the side of a mountain and while he survived (barely) a TQ would have made things much easier. Wasn't arterial but we still struggled to stop the bleeding in his leg through pressure alone. Space blanket (mylar) as well. Even in warm/hot weather injuries suck the warmth out of you and helps bring on shock. We didn't even have a sleeping pad for him to lay on. The ground of early summer sucked all the warmth out of him and he went through major hypothermia procedures in hospital after a helicopter finally picked him up. It was a day trip and we cut corner that I dont anymore. It's hard to tell what you have so I don't mean to be preachy. Happy trails.
Would love to know how to pack food in a bear bin/in bear country! Also how high do you try to hang your food bag? One thing I always pack, even in the summer, is a toque! I find I lose a lot of heat from my head as I am sleeping and wearing my toque when I sleep helps a ton! Love the video thanks
Depending on where you are backpacking, you'll need to research the parks, and forest areas you will be in. Out where I am, it's common to have national parks and forests have approved bear canisters/bags that must be used. Seems like most are requiring canisters which are left on the ground not close to one's camping site.
Great video Madison! I forgot how much the backpack weighs fully packed! Have you shown a vid of first-aid kit? Probably and I just didn’t see it! That pack looks really heavy!❤️😀🚙🐈⬛
Would love to see a bear bin/bear country video! 👀🩶 Also love all your videos. Thanks so much for sharing gear info. Im still learning lots and you help me stay inspired to get out there any chance i get ☺️
Hey! Just found your channel and love your videos. I just recently got into solo backpacking after years of of remote 4x4 camping. This was a great video I wish I had seen when I started. Solid advice. I'm curious what your pack weight comes in at. Also, I'm gonna do some research and may have to try that Katadyn filter. I'm not a fan of the the Sawyer I have now. Thanks for sharing your adventures and keep on trekking!
Hey, very helpful video! I'm looking to buy a tent and so for the msr hubba hubba seems a great tent, but I was wondering how your experience has been with the tent?
Do you think your tent body & fly could fit in your pack if you didn't use its original bag & folded it differently? I also have an oversized sleeping bag & have been looking at getting that same backpack. Seeing that your tent doesn't fit is not encouraging lol
In the summer you can go much lighter than Madison does. I suggest a book by Ray Jardine called Beyond Backpacking. You can get a one pound tent and a one pound sleeping bag. Then you can use a lighter pack, because you aren't carrying so much stuff. Madison is very strong, and carrying this pack makes her even stronger.
If you stop using the chapstick, your lips will heal and return to moisturizing themselves after some time. That chapstick is designed to make you have to keep using it.
@@gamalyelg They are probably right I never use chapstick, Ask yourself who do you think is writing those articles, The internet is over flooded with articles written by these companies you can even find articles that say alcohol is good for you geez
Wait, wait, wa, stop the horses! Water weighs 2.2 lbs ( 1 kilo ) per liter. No one carries that much water at a time, and not inside your pack when you don’t know how much is left at any given time. Common practice nowadays is 1-2 liters in separate bottles. One should know their water sources (map) and you fill up and replenish as you hike.
Spruce gum works fantastic on cuts, wounds, etc. It's an antiseptic, helps healing, natural and seals the wound.

All gear is linked in the description ☝🏼. Tell me, is there anything you bring that I didn’t mention?!
Hey! What brand are the hiking pants ?
@@HighlyOpinionated108 Fjallraven Keb trousers
Helpful video, thank you! Would be interested to check out the tripod. It has the wrong link though.

I've been trying to figure that out also. @@HighlyOpinionated108

What were the lightweight hiking pants?
Your tips are always so practical, thanks.

Where’s the link for the pants!
Enjoyed this :) looking forward to more gear content from you!
Have almost the exact same stuff, exept for the tent i use the MSR Hubba tour 2 which gives extra storing space!
We must be doing something right then 🤙
Great video, very informative and helpful.
Coffee grinds keeps the bugs away sprinkle around your tent in the bug season!
Can’t do that in bear country.
Hi hi! Where did you get those green hiking pants? What brand are they?
Madison gives the brand in a reply to her comment, two back from yours.

As high as you can get it with safely getting it down 😅. Thanks so much for sharing. I will have to create a video on this.
Higher than a bear can reach, 12+ feet, 6+ feet away from both the trunk, and off from the branch. Check out the bear hang PCT style 👍
@@MadisonClysdaleeyou forgot the most important part and that is that it is hung away from where you are set up for camping

Hello from the U.K. very informative video. Thank you. 🐾🇬🇧
Would love to see a video on your car to use it for camping and also how you pack things in it!

Where are these trousers from?
Love the content! I am new to Canada. Can you please do a video on how to store food in the back country?
Thank you so much for sharing! This is so helpful. Can you share your bucket hat?
Love ur videos ❤
What are the pants that you use? The green one? They look super comfortable!!
it rly does pay off to get high quality stuff up front
im only poor once!! then the gear lasts 4eva
Exactly! I really didn’t want to buy something twice and spend more money in the long run 😅 and end up with two stoves or something like that
Chapstick has exited the chat lol

Loved the video! Friendly heads up, some of your links are wrong. Both the tank top and the mid layer links go to the spork, lol :)

Very in depth video. Thanks.
I want to start a similar video series. How'd you get started?
what tripod is that? your link in description links to spork and not a tripod.
you should come to Australia to go camping
knife , don't forget your knife .....it's me , from penticton😁
There’s this great shelf where you leave all of your gear. It’s in another video. Where did you buy it?
Excellent!

hi, what about your boots?
I need friends that are down to explore the outdoors with me 😅
Don't know where to put the seat pad? Top flap it.

Top flapping never goes wrong 😂
I really am not a big fan of my Tensor pad. Ive used some of my friends Big Agnes pads and they are so much more comfortable
