This is great! Trying to use a spotlight to project video through my volumetric and smoke domains was causing all manner of problems, especially due to the fact that the rays were being picked up by the camera, but using an area light has nullified all of that!!! Thank you very much!!!
I love this! I love your work and everything that you do. You've inspired me several, if not multiple times to create and design different projects, renders, etc. I'm always super excited whenever you post a new video because it gives me an extra boost of flowing creativity. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more ideas and tutorials that you have and show in the future!
Thank you for sharing this! This is a much more simplified method than I was using recently recently and the results are much more astounding. Can't wait to use it
Man, this idea might save me some work in my goofy personal project, but I don't know how I'm going to actually pull it off. I can see it, though. Now to bring my knowledge up to speed with my daydreaming.
to make this with textures, you need to make it on every single object + mix it and mess with emission/shadow endless work...just project it with light. epic idea makes some new world art to me ! wow SIR !thanks for showing this up
sitting watching you after trying to solve an isssue with a series of animations...mate u just opened a door that I last opened in Unity using images as projectors, this just made a link to stuff i did 7 years ago and just assumed was bespoke...duh! thank you for all ur isnpirational videos and tips to unlock old and new workflows.
Great video! Is there any way to fake volumetrics in Evee to make projector light more visible in space? Similar to what you showed on 0:17 ("cinema projector light" in google images)
This looks great and I love the realtime materials. THere's a lot missing here on making the assets though. I know it's a short video but how do you save them 1200x1200? Is this a series of render images then save? Thanks
The assets is just a Place and text and then rendered pictures basically that create a sequence? I have to try that, would have loved if you would have invested 30 seconds to explain how you do one asset...just like "add a place add a text and rendet it...for noobs it could be confusing how you did that :) rest is great
This is an awesome technique. Also, I discovered that you can simply export single frames of each image state and compile them in After Effects to have total control later on over the length of each png in the sequence. This means I can go all out on volume and samples while only needing to render 4 frames (or more next time.) If you've created a video, like I did, then you can just use the step option [Output>frame range] (set to like 12 or whatever your frame count is on the video), to render only those needed frames. Hope this helps anyone for whom it does!
I keep failing to make what I want to and I'm refusing to let that stop me forever, so I'm working on new processes that could use this. I draw the left or right and front orthographic perspectives of the model and make a semi transparent box to cross reference those two into one mesh. Now that I'm trying to translate a face to a 3D design it could be very helpful to project the drawn face straight onto the model and block it out from there
Yeah, just instead of making the assets in blender, do them in illustrator, and edit them all together, in some kind of sequence editor, the same way that I did. Same concept.
@@TheDucky3D Ah, Thanks for the information and knowledge! I have a suggestion for your materials. Rubber floor mats for Sci-Fi you could add different patterns like bumps and holes. All sorts of plastics as well. Rough like a PC monitor and textured with holes. I am thinking this will help with hard surface models.
Hey Ducky, I just want to say I love your content and thank you for sharing your extensive blender knowledge. It is really helping me improve at a fast rate and comprehend the tools and principles I'm utilizing. I have a short question: I see the 'beam shape' option being used a lot in your videos but I can't find the add-on/enable button to allow me to change the spread of the area light. I can change the shape but not the spread. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot and keep being awesome!
This looks amazing I can't wait to experiment with this in my own work! Always love seeing new creative tools made in blender :)
It’s so fun to play around with

Such a cool technique, thank you. I love learning these uncommonly shared tidbits....

Hello Ducky, I really love your content. I have learnt so much from you.
God bless you!
I’m happy to hear that man!

You are really amazing Ducky. Always that I want to learn something new you pop up to teach us! Thank you for your wisdom always

I’m glad you like it!
Gonna have to rewatch the video 'cause this is such a cool trick. Thanks man 🙏.
Awesome!!
Ducky this tutorial came at the perfect time wow

it's really relevant )
Nice tutorial! I was asking where is the beam shape option but I was on Evee duhhh, thanks!
Nice man!!
Thanks!
Nice i use blender to do visual effects to use on videos its such a powerful tool really!
Great video! Is there any way to fake volumetrics in Evee to make projector light more visible in space? Similar to what you showed on 0:17 ("cinema projector light" in google images)
Not sure I’ll have to figure that out
Does anyone know if it's possible to achieve a similar projector effect/setup on Eevee?
Comparable to C4D renders! ❤
Yep!
This looks great and I love the realtime materials. THere's a lot missing here on making the assets though. I know it's a short video but how do you save them 1200x1200? Is this a series of render images then save? Thanks
Yea I save them separately and compile them in the sequence editor like premiere
Nice one. I've been messing about with this all day. Not sure how I got there but some nice results@@TheDucky3D
That’s really cool!
I wonder if it’s doable in eevee
Not right now sadly
Good work 👌
Thanks

LEt's GOOOOOO
Yes!
Does this only work in cycles or can i use it in eevee?
Just cycles sadly
@TheDucky3D 🤔 hmmm...guess il try to do 2 seperate renders and overlay them maybe.
Great tutorial as usual
These are unique and very joh-eun (good) in my eyes. 👍🖱
내 눈에는 이것들이 매우 좋고 독특합니다.
Thank you!!
Can I render the whole sequence using the glare node ?
I mean not a single frame just the whole sequence in .PNG
Yes make sure it’s plugged into the render and view output
@@TheDucky3D amazing.
Same if I want to render Ambient Occlusion too right?
Just AO not final render preview?
❤🎉
this gave me so many good ideas, appreciate it a lot
Have a good time with it!
can we get more in-depth tutorial on Patreon?
Yes!
IMPORTSNT NOTE : This works in Cycles ONLY.
Oh what????😮😃
Yea!!
how did i know this trend would end up blowing up lol this style is dead now

Hello, is it possible to do the same in eevee?
Does this work in eevee?
Hey ducky amazing video bro, thnx x share this masterpiece 🙂🙌🏻
Ps. Can be made the assets in illustrator? And then imported to blender like videofilm?
Yeah, just instead of making the assets in blender, do them in illustrator, and edit them all together, in some kind of sequence editor, the same way that I did. Same concept.
@@TheDucky3D thnx Ducky, you rock
It did.. Thankyou
This Looks awesome. I swear I was thinking TODAY how you can do that in Blender because I need it dir a Project. thanks!
Have fun!!
That is really cool looking! Did you use the Matrix Code NFI font?
It was just some kind of digital clock font

Made an artwork using this method! Thanks for sharing!
Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/axhKArr4OEc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I found that keeeping the spread slightly above zero really help to create that projector effect by adding a bit of softness around the edges
Oh yea that looks great!
Those renders came out pretty neat! I'll have to give this a go.
It’s fun!
Nice, thanks. Which Blender version are you using?
great vid, thanks for the info.
Thanks
You are insane! Thanks for the level up! Youre making my skill tree go crazy!
OMG. Where did you find those alien symbols?
its not working for me
I think your great at describing things.
How realistic is realtime materials? Can I use for vfx?
I use it for everything
v cool!
Love your Realtime materials..great work. They look fantastic in Eevee snd cycles
Thank you!
incredible stuff!

That’s pretty weird you should be able to see that, are you using the latest version of blender?
@@TheDucky3D I think so, 3.6.2?
Thanks for updating the real-time materials!
More to come too!
interesting
cool
