A big thank you to everyone who's watched this series with us, whether you're new to the channel or a regular. We love doing these series reactions for you. And what a finale! What was some of your favourite moment from Season 1 of Andor?
I love your reactions. This show had some of the best written monologues I've ever seen in one season of one show. I loved everything about this show but the monologues stand out. Such a well written show. Been following you two since The Legend of Vox Machina.
While the entire season was truly wonderful, my favorite probably lies in Episode 7 for me. Despite no action, the masterclass dialogue carried the show in a way no other SW shows have done before. The interaction between Maarva and Cassian about standing against oppression, Mon Mothma's conflict of morality and recruitment of Tay, Dedra gaining an edge over Blevin, and a view into what the justice system has become; it was all such a masterclass.
The realisation on Luthens face during Marvaa's wonderful speech was a wonderful moment in a lot of wonderful moments. 2 superb actors in a gorgeous cast of wonderful actors.
On top of using a known, public vice of his to account for (because the ISB agent driver will report as much) her moving large sums of money and being unable to account for another large sum.
Luthen intrigues me, more so in this episode than others. What he said to Saw when he asked Luthen who he was, "I'm a coward". Luthen is willing to sacrifice people in the name of getting The Empire to react, but he never saw or physically partook in what the execution of his plans. Maarva's speech hit him hard. The brilliance of Tony Gilroy writing, Benjamin Caron's direction, and Stellan Skarsgård's acting really brings this out. No words, but you see Luthen internalize how Maarva was inspiring Ferrix without compromising her sole. Then seeing from afar the chaos and carnage that this actually causes. I think that had a part at the end when Cassian tells him to kill him or take him in. No longer is Cassian a mercenary and a liability, but someone who believes in the need to rebel, and is now an asset. I also think Luhten started healing a but, and may change his plans a bit. Be more inspirational than scorched earth.
I imagine to a large extent Luthen has been considering himself alone in his ultimate goal - he's got all these pieces he's moving that he's aware have their own desires and motivations that aren't necessarily in line with his own. This episode he saw he's absolutely not alone and like you say, can move into that inspirational role. I think and hope that Cassian will share the manifesto with Luthen - it could help him further realize the extent of what he's largely considered his personal rebellion.
@@hadoken95 I love the dimensions these characters have been given. Even the Imperials. A mean I actually feared for Denise Gough, I thought she was going to get torn apart, nevermind Dedra. But to see her lose control of the calm, threatening exterior abd pinicing - superb. Cassian was right, power dose not panic, and she had no power here. I am so glad this is in the Star Wars library, and glad I latched on to it.
Ah yes! my bad I was referring to just this episode. Kino and Luthen in ep 10 for sure add to great monologues, and mon mothma talking to Tay earlier. The script, just excellent
This has been an excellent series, which really needs to be looked at not episode by episode but as a well-written novel. With that said, each episode has so many emotional moments to enjoy. In this episode, one moment that warmed my heart was Cassian and Brasso's hug in the tunnel. Clearly, Cassian needed that hug. He has been thru hell. He learns that his mom has died and is feeling the pain and guilt of her loss. He barely managed to escape the prison, but it's not lost on him that Kino and many others likely did not make it. But he is home now and is greeted by a friend who gives him the firm embrace he needs. He needed that recharge of the genuine love of family and community he had been missing. Cassian keeps so much of his pain hidden that he needs to let go and cry for all he has been through. But short of that, Brrasso's hug lifted him to a point where he needed to prepare for his next battle.
One thing I love about this show above all else is that it actually portrayed the Empire in its prime as something of a threat. Yes, there is infighting and there is corruption (revealed in the show through ISB competition and the side comment about the Navy covering up failures respectively), but as an organization, its influence is hard to deny. Even when the show pushes forward with having a riot that has levels of success, the Empire would still hold a visible edge. For every Imperial taken down, four civilians would be apprehended. This is a stark contrast to how other shows would portray the Empire, where they are just disposable goons that just get mowed down for story progression; like in Kenobi. The story *says* that the Empire is to be feared and not to be taken head-on, but what they *show* is sweeping the floor with them with only one or two casualties.
Despite being Star Wars, this series is down-to-earth, it doesn't rely on fantastic but impossible solutions because it's about people like us. Everything matters, every action has consequences just like in real life. I enjoyed the journey with these characters and look forward to seeing more of them. Great scripts and superb performances complimented by a thoughtful production. Andor is Star Wars at its best for adults!
Absolutely fantastic series. Stellar writing and acting. We also have to give praise to the casting directors, who are frequently forgotten. Perfect actors for perfect roles.
34:13 The won't though. Cassian didn't know what the Death Star was in Rogue one, right? It was the Empire's very top secret project. Not even Saw knew of it until it was too late. Had Cassian known about it, what he was building, Jyn wouldn't have needed to convince him about her father's message.
they find out in rogue one that it's some kind of super weapon, I can't remember but I don't think they even see it when fleeing Jedha and probably don't until Scarif when it hyperjumps in.
Another great reaction! Thank you for doing this amazing series. Favorite moments? The speeches, especially Luthen's. The Eye. The grittiness. Realizing that just because you're fighting for good, doesn't mean you're a good person. I loved this series. Best writing in SW in a very long time.
What really hits me is that the people of Rix Road probably weren't gonna win the fight to begin with. But they fought anyway. And even if they fell, they would be avenged... soon.
The most incredible parallel to Nemik's manifesto, like you touched on, was the convergence and change in tempo of the bands and the unified people of Ferrix vs the scrambling Empire who are so arrogantly and haphazardly configured at the start of the showdown. A unified people, workers united, a *natural* state of communal existence creating this tsunami-like forceful wave vs the empire's unnatural (and clearly fearful) attempt to organize and fight against that current of a people unified - I mean it was absolutely stunning, like visual poetry! I have loved watching you guys react to this series and you've got a new subscriber in me for sure! The pure love and expressive joy when you guys watch Star Wars together is so palpable and genuine, it makes me feel like I'm watching with my own very cool, very nerdy husband and friends 😊 Just wanted to say I appreciate you! Keep up the awesome work!
It just occurred to me that Luthen was trying to be all stealthy with his Palpatine-inspired jet black cloak and hoody, doing a terrible job of blending into a sea of people wearing subdued earth tones.
20:12 I really liked that moment that is missing in almost every reaction, it shows the respect all the town had for the Andors, and how united the community was, Casian did not even doubt it, he knew he would not betray him.
The Death Star being made via slavery makes it next level despicable, but remember, we know he never finds out he was helping build it. In Rogue One he never even heard of the Death Star until Jyn told him about it... and we know how that ends so yeah.
I think the Daughters of Ferrix intended to stir up some shizzle all along. Not what was actually stirred...but they intended not to allow the Empire to push them around. I wonder if they knew what was in Maarva's speech.
Marvaa's speech seems to have changed a lot of people's views, from the snitch to Syril's Sargent Mosk to Luthen. Season two, according to the showrunner Tony Gilroy, won't finish filming until August of 2023 so we might not see it until 2024 or very late 2023 (but it will be worth it!)
Have seen this sequence at least a dozen times, many via review reaction videos. Yours was so enjoyable to watch with you, had to Subscribe and Like =)
I could watch multiple seasons of a show about nothing but Brasso fleeing the Imperials and hopping from world to world, helping out innocent people as he goes, however they need. Be it odd jobs, just being someone they can count on, or once in a while knocking some pirate or Imperial heads. He's the best dude. Period.
Man I need a girlfriend or wife as passionate as this woman about Star Wars! I’d live happily ever after lol brillant series and I cannot wait until season 2! The show that most said was going to be garbage ended up being one of the best Star Wars shows of all time! Ain’t that something!
You guys saying "that's so cruel to make prisoners build weapons of mass destruction." As an avid fan of Warhammer 40,000 I'm just sat here like That's cute. That's an average Tuesday 😅😂
If there was a social org. called the Daughters of Ferrix, we can assume there are also the Sons of Ferrix. Do you think that Brazzo might be the current president and that is why he is carrying Marva's brick? I imagine that they are the guys wearing the red tunics.
I would think Brasso is a member of the men's auxiliary of the Daughters of Ferrix. There must be another social organization as well, I'd guess from those who wore yellow tunics.
I'm hoping Dedra and that other guy can work together, but I hope it's not a love story. Meanwhile, I hope Mon's daughter married that rich dude and that works out for Mon. Lol
I get the holo projections that droids can do, but where did the megaphone voice of Maarva come from? Does B2 double as a surround sound loudspeaker that can be heard all over town? Can't wait for the next season.
I don't know if I could pick a favourite moment from the season, but the Eye of Aldhani was breathtakingly gorgeous. Nemik's narration of his manifesto made me want to go back and reread the communist manifesto though.
A big thank you to everyone who's watched this series with us, whether you're new to the channel or a regular. We love doing these series reactions for you. And what a finale! What was some of your favourite moment from Season 1 of Andor?
This entire show was a gift. The writing, the acting and incredible storytelling.
The Eye, that whole episode was gold from start to finish.

There's just something about droids that when they're hurt or sad that hits harder. It's almost like a pet dog is in pain.
Yep! Especially when they’re adorable droids. Or Gonk droids. Protect the Gonk always
Luthen intrigues me, more so in this episode than others. What he said to Saw when he asked Luthen who he was, "I'm a coward". Luthen is willing to sacrifice people in the name of getting The Empire to react, but he never saw or physically partook in what the execution of his plans.

This show has the best written lines of not just Star Wars but of all TV.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the dialog in this show really sets it apart from (and in my opinion above) all other Star Wars media.
3 fantastic monologues throughout, each saying something different yet significant and building off each other. So good
@@FandomZone I might argue 4 great monologues- including what we hear of Nemik's manifesto
What was the fourth? I was thinking Maarva, Nemik and Clem. Missing one off the top of my head
@@FandomZoneI think the fourth one is kino's speech
Ah yes! my bad I was referring to just this episode. Kino and Luthen in ep 10 for sure add to great monologues, and mon mothma talking to Tay earlier. The script, just excellent
I think Maarva would salute Brasso's choice of using her brick to smash Imperials.

Brilliant.

The rebellion was born on Rix road.
Between Marva and that damn droid I teared up too many times in this series 🥺loved every moment of it
When the dirge suddenly turned into to a rally, a march for war.... This is THE best Star Wars!
This episode made the audience want to join the rebellion.
Being military, I also instantly recognized the change from a funeral dirge to a _battle_ march.
Trent and Julia I love how you two do your breakdowns.

what a fantastic series, cannot wait for season 2!
This is FERRIX!
Andor is brilliant.
What a show. My favorite SW show for sure, and I dare say one of the best series I have watched on TV. I so want a LEGO set of B.
Loved your enthusiasm and emotional investment in this show - enjoyed each reaction! Going to be a LONG wait till S2! #Climb #Try
At least we won't wait as long as I did as a young teen when the OT came out in theaters. 3 years each time felt like an eternity.
B2EMO drained its batteries to project a large Hologram of Maarva it was beautiful how this droid has surpass the legendary R2D2 for me.
Cassian literally helped build the weapon that would eventually kill him in Rogue One.
Poor Cassian. He died in Rogue One trying to destroy the very same weapon he unintentionally helped build. 🥺😢
The fake gagging when Syril said you were in trouble. That’s why I love your channel! The best Star Wars reactors out there
15:00 They started it on time. The Empire tried to push it back and the community ignored the permit.
I think the Daughters of Ferrix intended to stir up some shizzle all along. Not what was actually stirred...but they intended not to allow the Empire to push them around. I wonder if they knew what was in Maarva's speech.
Mon throwing her husband under the bus: Damn, so stone cold.
“So what do I sacrifice? EVERYTHING.”

Like a funeral in New Orleans.

I really need to rewatch Rogue One lol
