  • It's been quite a while since I've worked on this truck, but it its finally time to tackle the problem! The check engine light/engine code that has been consistent is P1211 ("Injection Control Pressure Higher or Lower Than Desired"). Basically, it means that the engine is having trouble with oil going to the injectors. Either there is too much oil, or in my case not enough oil to make the system happy. This video goes over the process of elimination to pinpoint the problem. I hope this video is helpful to someone who has the same issue as my truck. Thanks For Watching!

    Check your fuel tank for oil. If an injector o-ring has failed the oil will go back to your fuel tank. The oil will sit above the diesel fuel so it’s easy to see. Also check the ICP sensor for oil leaking through the plastic due to cracking and soaking the electrical connection giving a false reading.

    • @ydocproductions5593
      @ydocproductions5593  Рік тому

      That’s all great tips, but I’ve checked all of that. There’s zero oil in the fuel filter housing as well as zero oil leaked though into the icp wiring harness. I’ve been scratching my head for over a year on this problem. The only thing that makes sense now would be injector o-rings.

    • @JLCmike4014
      @JLCmike4014 Рік тому +3

      @@ydocproductions5593, the oil won’t return to the filter housing. It’ll go back to the tank itself. You’d have to use a boroscope to see in the tank. If the injector o-rings are indeed leaking then you’d be losing it in the pan and can’t find where it’s going besides the tank. I had a few of those issues on school buses with the T444E engines. It could also be that big harness plug that goes across the driver’s side valve cover. I’ve had a few wires rub through and cause drivability issues.

    • @ydocproductions5593
      @ydocproductions5593  Рік тому

      @@JLCmike4014 Very interesting, I didn’t know that! If I ever get my hands on a borescope I’ll have to check that out sometime. Also checking out the wiring harness should be on my to-do list because I’m running out of ideas of what could possibly be wrong.
      So in theory, if it was the very top injector o-ring went bad there wouldn’t be any evidence of it it because it would leaking at the injector seat right?

    • @JLCmike4014
      @JLCmike4014 Рік тому +3

      @@ydocproductions5593, if it was the very top injector o-ring then you see oil being forced up out of the injector bore. There’s actually 2 o-rings on that top injector o-ring seat but the one that commonly fails is the middle o-ring. If you pull the injector and all the o-rings are black then they’re all original and not the updated o-rings. The updated middle o-ring is pink and is a far better o-ring design than the original ones. The bottom one is orange.

    • @ydocproductions5593
      @ydocproductions5593  Рік тому

      @@JLCmike4014 That’s very helpful information and i appreciate you being willing to answer all my questions on it. Everything you said makes perfect sense. Even if the injector o-rings aren’t bad it’s not a bad idea to put new ones in because I’m willing to bet there the original ones from 1996

    It would be good if it's just a bad o-ring and replacing that fixes the problem and the light on dash stop coming on good luck for the next video.

    Thank you for the video. I know you have code P1211 but how was the truck running? I've been dealing with a rough idle/miss for awhile now with no codes. I haven't checked the HPOP performance or compression yet but a reputable shop said everything else is good. Fuel pressure is 60 to 65 running, tanks and pickups are clean.
    truck has a bad vibration loss of power and fuel economy. No smoke. I'm leaning towards an injector issue? Anyone have any ideas? 265k

    • @ydocproductions5593
      @ydocproductions5593  19 днів тому

      @@user-dw4ex8kf2w well it’s hard to diagnose the truck when I can’t physically see it but whenever I’m dealing with a problem like that I always like to go back to the basics and build from there. For example if you have good compression and fuel pressure your probably good. I know you checked fuel while it was running but it’s important to check it under a load while driving. These Powerstrokes can do all sorts of weird things if they don’t have enough fuel pressure. Also important to check the sensors. Especially the ipr and icp. I would recommend you buy “Forscan” it’s a program you can plug into a laptop and you can see what the sensors are doing at different speeds to spot any anomalies. I would also check the HPOP oil pressures. If you don’t have any oil in the fuel or vise versa most likely those are ok. Lastly if you want to check the injectors. Take the valve covers off while the truck is running and look at the return spouts of all 8 injectors and see if one injector is returning a significant amount of oil more than the rest. Again im no expert but these are just a few things I’ve learned throughout the years. hope it helps.

    I've got a 95 f-250 with 290k , just recently I discovered that the fuel was contaminated with oil, I cleaned fuel lines and the tank , the fuel filter was black, it smokes a lot during warm up , I've gone through a gallon of oil in a week, no check engine light , no p1211 code . Changing injector 0 rings.

    • @ydocproductions5593
      @ydocproductions5593  6 місяців тому

      Yup sounds like your injector orings are bad. The fuel filter being black with oil is the classic sign of o-ring failure

  • @WesleyJohnsonMI
    @WesleyJohnsonMI Рік тому +1

    At least you're diagnosing it, instead of loading the parts cannon! Are you going to upgrade any of the other parts when you inspect the o-rings?

    • @ydocproductions5593
      @ydocproductions5593  Рік тому +1

      Exactly! I didn’t want to just throw parts at it hoping it would work. Gets expensive pretty quick🤣. I don’t think I need to replace anything else while I’m in there. The glow plugs are in pretty good shape with the glow plug relay being replaced by the previous owner. Also the under valve cover harnesses are in great shape, so besides a 3” down pipe I just might be finished with the truck and simply enjoy it.👍

    • @ydocproductions5593

      Thank you! I’m not exactly sure the oil size port. What I did was buy a crossover HPOP line kit off eBay that had all the 45* and 90* degree fittings. I believe it’s an automotive thread, so I couldn’t find the right size fitting at my local hardware store.

    Thanks for an informative video! While cranking you first have 0psi showing and then it jumps to 3400psi. Is that you opening and closing the IPR valve manually by applying the 12V directly? Or is that just a delay before the pump builds the pressure?

    • @ydocproductions5593
      @ydocproductions5593  Рік тому +1

      @@ydocproductions5593 that's great to hear! I'm looking forward to it. I haven't dead head tested my HPOP yet because the crap Amazon kit I got had all the wrong fittings. My JIC/AN adapters should be arriving today, so I'll be able to test the pump and run compressed air through the heads to check for injector o-ring leaks as well. I also ordered a heavy duty Denso starter because my stock one can barely get the engine to crank more than 100RPM with fresh batteries after so much cranking during testing. I've been at this for months and SO badly want to be able to get my OBS back on the road, so I feel your pain!

      @@PolishSoul I know the feeling🤣! Ya when it comes to amazon parts for these Powerstrokes I haven’t had the best of luck (way to many cheap chinese made fakes out there). Sounds like you’re on the right track to fix your truck! Once you put air into the system to check for leaking orings it can take quite a while to restart the truck back up, so a new starter will definitely benefit you. The new video I was telling you about is up so I hope it’s helpful to get your truck running again. Good luck👍😀!
