Mine came today. Straight out of the box, I’m impressed. I think I prefer it over my S24 Ultra. Also had the Find X7 Pro but already moved that on
How would you rate it compared to the X7 Pro?
@@goodoldjr83 not sure about the cameras as I haven't had a chance to test the Xiaomi yet (Oppo cameras were very good). Software wise it's no competition as the Xiaomi is a global version and the Oppo was Chinese. I also prefer the feel of the Xiaomi in hand too

Great video Mike. Received mine today and am loving it so far. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is going after using this, the Honor Magic 6 Pro and the S24 Ultra.
Nice video. After watching it, I ended up heading over to the Xiami store to pre-order. Shipments will start to arrive o3/19, so happy about that. Besides the Camera kit, Taiwan Xiami also provides a filter kit (4 filters). Thanks again.

How is the lens transition on this phone? 0.5x to 1x to 3.2x, and so on. Is it jittery or buttery smooth?

@AverageDad any report on the battery? I have got mine now. Every time I am using the camera phone gets slightly warmer and a few points off the battery. At this price point I was hoping for everything to be perfect. Can't help but feel a little let down. Do you think subsequent optimization might help? I mean other phones out of the box have tremendous battery with the SD8gen3 like the OnePlus and Sammy. I just wondering if I should rethink/return?

it depends if you want the photography kit and free Xiaomi Pad... if it is just the phone, you can save a heap and buy the 13U

I still love my Find X5 Pro, but all of these recent phones are incredible!
Worst thing about Oppo is because of all the legal stuff with Nokia it's stopped us getting the X7 it's like Oppo is stuck in 2021 in Europe, which is a shame cause even my X3 Pro is still getting updates so would love a new Oppo

Got my trio today. 14 Ultra 512Gb, Camera kit & Tablet. So far amazed by the natural bokeh on close up shots -- looks super crisp and just feels great.... UI taking a bit of getting used to from Samsung OneUI ... but just been a Samsung user for a good few years so learning the new quirks --- only issue i have is that i cannot transfer my eSim so had to order a physical one so can't go mobile yet :)

Hyper OS does not allow gesture navigation on different launchers. That, to me, is a big mistake.
So I have the Xiaomi 14 ultra, and today I found out when using it out in the cold weather straight from warm temperature. My main sensor tends to fog/condensation happening in the lens only on the main 1inch sensor 🤔 do you think I should return it?

24 hours in for me... condensation on the main lens, the extrawide lens on the 14 Ultra produces photos soft/fuzzy photos compared to the ultrawide on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra side by side. The camera grip while an amazing add-on which was free with the pre-launch deal but a wierd quirk is tapping the video button startsfilming but once youre in video mode, the photo shutter button only controls video recording. Hope that gets fixed with new firmware.
Everything else works well otherwise and is an improvement and the deal they have with the freebies and trade-in is great. But still disappointing 😢 got super hyped up
The condensation sounds pretty unacceptable. Still waiting on my preorder teetering on cancelling / returning.
So I also have condensation on the main lens but only when going from a warm environment to a coldish 1 . Bit of a strange one but that's the only issue. The ultra wide for me has been brilliant though. You've got to remember ofc software will improve that issue....

Appreciate the reply, it's a little bewildering however that somee are so nonchalant about it.
No condensation for me yet. A quick Google and on Reddit there seem to be a few fixes running the phone hot to dry out internals with sim card tray out and or using silica gell, all reported good success. People suggest it could be humid conditions in assembly line to mitigate dust and that moisture subsequently being locking into phone with no way to escape. Some got official reply from Xiaomi saying this is normal behaviour... That's handy.😂 I remember I had this on an lens for my mirrorless sony camera many years ago.
It is probably an explanation related with elementary physics in relation to this problem. Fortunately, these cases are rare, and if it disappeared once, this problem does not return. To solve the problem, you have to take dehumidification/silica gel envelopes, and leave the phone for a few hours with the SIM removed with that envelope, closed in a bag or something closed, and that's how the moisture is drawn from it and the problem disappears. ATTENTION, do not insert that gel or silica into the phone, just place them close to each other... I hope I helped you with this advice and enjoy these phones.. Good luck !!!
Nice intro and thanks for pointing out the difference between the global and Chinese model. One correction to the statement 'all the sensors are bigger than any of its compeition'. The mid level zoom 3.2x one is way smaller than the imx890 2.7x on the Oppo Find x7 ultra. Also the ultrawide is significantly smaller than Oppo's LYT600 ultrawide. The main sensor is the same as the Oppo and the 6x on the Oppo is the same sensor as the 5x on the Xiaomi 14 ultra. Xiaomi has faster apertures but smaller sensors overall
Curious which phone people who mind the rattling used to have. My OnePlus Open rattles and so does my Samsung S10. It's been that way ever since phone cameras became good.
What camera settings would you suggest? Hdr on or off and authentic or vibrant?
I use authentic with HDR off but i do like the Vibrant mode for certain landscape scenarios

great vid, some excellent shots, your points valid about Dslr's for day to day or maybe family holidays, but if you have ever used a dslr, properly, there is an awful lot of shots you simply cant come close to with any phone, by a huge margin and that's fine because what these phones are amazing for is having a camera on you all the time, that in pro mode, with a little effort, can give amazing shots of family & friends, some landscape, especially city-scapes etc they are a great intro into photography, a great way of learning if you take them out of auto, and of course, unlike a DSLR they are used every day of your life as a phone, so no huge financial risk. £1300 is not a drop in the ocean to most of us, but its the price of one moderately priced lens for a DSLR that you may use a dozen times a year, so when you consider that, its amazing value for a phone that can come so close to that quality even if it has limitations

Had mine a couple of days. Was thinking of returning and keeping my S24U. A couple of days later and I've changed my mind. Keeping this and selling the S24U. Single handed use and feel in hand are great and I'm over my couple of initial software quirks 😛

I am teetering on returning due to the software that seems to have gotten worse since the 11 Ultra. It is as far from what Google imagined as you can get. Awful experience....camera alone is not a compelling reason to keep it.
Mine arrived too, got the white version. Mine also has the death rattle, as does the 13 Ultra. Battery has been good so far, very smooth and fast device, don't like the iPhone like pull down control centre thing.

WITH MY OPPO FIND X7 ULTRA I GOT FRIENDS HOW ASK ME ABOUT IT AND THEY WANT ONE EVEN ABOUT THE VIVO X100 PRO, LAST MONTH I WAS AT TATE MODERN AND 2 TOURIST GIRLS ASK ME ABOUT MY X7 ULTRA. I THINK THEY WERE LOOKING AT THE PICTURES WHEN I WAS SHOOTING AND I SHOWED THEM AND 1 OF THEM SAID SHE WANTS TO GET THE OPPO SO I TOLD HER WHAT TO DO , PULSE I TYPED THE NAME OF THE PHONE ON HER IPHONE REALLY CRAZY WHEN U HAVE A CAMERA PHONE BETTER THEN EVERYONE ELSE IT STARTS GETTING THE ATTENTION.
It's available in Hong Kong for 900 pounds and that includes the Photography kit and the Filter kit. If you have a service provider contract, then it's only 800 pounds.

I could really use your advice! I can get the OPPO Find X7 ultra for $1065 or the Vivo X100 pro for $900. Right now I'm leaning towards the X7 because I prefer the look and while I've never had an OPPO device I've had a OnePlus and I know that the software is similar enough to know that while it's not my favorite, I will get on with it fine. The Vivo is the chinese version so I'm assuming OriginOS but regardless I don't know anything about Vivo software. But I have to admit the extra $200 does make the Vivo sound better 😅
You can't go to far wrong with either but the Oppo supports all European bands whereas the Vivo doesn't so if you are in Europe that may be a consideration. You also get a global warranty on the Oppo but it's useless if in the US as Oppo doesn't operate there. I have used Chinese versions of both software. I think both are good. Origin OS on Vivo is very good imo but Color OS is simpler and a bit closer to stock android so this is personal preference. Tough choice but both are good. Cameras are very close.

You can, but Chinese variant is missing some network bands. So keep that in mind.
But it is cheaper you can get 1tb and titanuim as well

I have had mine a couple of days, photos are amazing depth of field and portrait mode is awesome. HyperOS... Well i prefer oppos ColorOS. Software seems to hang once a day, pick up of signal when coming out of dead zone is non exsistsnt, had to restart. Home screen clock.... Wtf is that about 4x2 non scaleable and in one corner. What a waiste of home screen real estate such a simple oversite. Will i keep it.... For sure these are pretty minor and generally the good outweighs the bad

Fantastic phone as I expected. But as I've mentioned here before, I watch these videos on a 50" tv, so the images are stretched significantly unlike when I watch on a phone. With that said, of all the phones I've watched you review, the one that looks the best on my tv when zoomed is still the Oppo, not this.

I think your review should add the Honor 6pro too. And the other new high end joiners, Find x7 pro and any others. You could review and delete each one by process to find the top 3 (321)and ultimately the winner of course.

Oppo find X7 Ultra gets the highest mark ever on DXo MARK not the iPhone, or S24 ultra that got 17th globally, think what most are saying that the oppo probably has the best camera of any phone at the moment 👍
I have the VIVO x100pro and after watching some Chinese reviewers I was not impressed. For a brand new sensor and 2 telephoto cameras the difference is minimal, night time photo and video stabilization is even worse and it's much more expensive than my phone so yeah... I think if VIVO releases the Pro Plus with the new sensor and rumored 200MP telephoto lens it will destroy all the competiton.

All videos i see just confirm that, as it was the case with 13U, too much hype but not the expected results on a daily basis. My 13U is good but not perfect and xiaomi releases an update every 3 to 4 months so it's really not worth upgrading. Will wait for X100 ultra
