Luigi's Mansion 3 just released for Nintendo Switch! But, unknown to many people, the original dual adventure between Luigi and Gooigi started in a much earlier form way back on the GameCube. An unfinished hidden multiplayer exists in the original Luigi's Mansion and trying to beat the game while in this mode is a bit complex. So, is it possible to beat Luigi's Mansion if you clone Luigi? We're about to find out! And we're definitely in for a ride...

I’d say the way that the functionality derailed towards the end, including the lack of dual compatibility on certain actions (correct me if I’m wrong, but it looked like a lot of the final floor portrait ghosts didn’t require using both Luigi’s to accomplish a task) sort of implies where the multiplayer eventually had to be scrapped during the development. Either due to lack of time or the inability to resolve these problems during testing.

to Be honest I think one of the main reason's it got scrapped at a certain point was well think about it for a second if Mario is trapped who else would have went to the mansion with Luigi? yeah you could say some different colored Toad or something or Daisy but we all know Nintendo would have never done that so yeah to be honest that to me is the biggest reason that is my opinion though

In order from best to least best but still great, the top five GameCube essentials are: Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, Metroid Prime, TLoZ Twilight Princess, TLoZ Wind Waker and Luigi's Mansion and, yep, Luigi's Mansion is on that list, so this checks out!
Edit: However, Prime and Prime 2 are 500% better on the Wii.
player 2 can actually enter doors fast you need to be lined up with the doorknob in the front and the seam between the door frame and the door you can go through quickly the side is harder and almost impossible to get through the door by winging it. Hope this helped

"...due to this mode being unfinished..." Modders. You know what to do. Seriously, this needs to exist. It looks and sounds fun. I'd watch a Swanky co-op video of two Luigis going around doing things like a proper co-op game.
Surely, we might. However, you can't forget modding for this game isn't and has never been an easy or quick task. Especially code modifying.
@@LMFinish Say someone started the project tomorrow like a legit dedicated modder working on this. I can see this being a project that's going to be finished in late 2021 If anything I can see it taking a year to finish and get everything right maybe quicker if they worked on it everyday.

At my work we have the Luigi’s Mansion arcade game. It’s a full immersive black box you sit in and use actual real poltergusts. It even has feedback you feel in your hands and you get a first person perspective inside the mansion. It even has 2 player mode. No modding needed. It’s incredibly fun having grown up with Mario and even thoroughly completing Luigi’s Mansion 3. If you ever get the chance you HAVE to play it. It’s a completely new experience

That is hilarious seeing the second player move around in the cutscenes. 🤣
The door glitch can be solved by adding the Unlock All Doors action replay code. Just gotta be careful to do things in exact order otherwise the game breaks (boos will despawn after being found). Also, when P2 is low on heath, exit the game and reload as player 1 only and get health. Save and Reload the game again with 2 players and P2’s health is restored!
This entire discovery has been so exciting!
I know modding for GameCube games is still in it's infancy, but considering that fantastic multiplayer modes that have been modded from scratch into Games like Mario 64 & Sunshine, it's really exciting to see what modders will do with this since they already have a pretty strong frame to build on top of!
The discord made it. They gave the second luigi the mario skin. Next project will probably be, adding voice lines and amplifying new code.

I would love for someone to properly patch the two player mode, and make it fully functional.
With some modification it would likely work pretty well (given it would take a lot of effort)

I really liked it when player 1 walked away with Mario’s portrait with player 2 following behind.
Two player for such a game would've been a big feat in that time tbh. So not surprised it wasn't finished. The fact they at least tried implementing it shows the lengths the devs went to into making the game.
Hey swanky, I think I know why the second Luigi can't open doors very well. Since the objects in the room unload, the door doesn't work properly if player one leaves due to being partially unloaded. This is why it works fine if player 2 enters first and then player one follows, as the objects are still loaded.
I am still amazed that so much of the multiplayer in Luigi's Mansion 3DS Remake was already there in the very first game. Similar goes for LM3, especially the "two player vacuum".

Possible, yes, but the hackers might wanna work on fixing it up, otherwise player 2 is essentially dead weight.
Perfect a KIRBYMIMI video he's pretty big brained in the GC hacking scene.
Can he vacuum up dust? Also, I'm betting the Mario portrait is headless because Player 2 is supposed to be Mario (Portrait Mario in that cutscene could be using an in-game model assigned to Player 2's entity.), that you seem to have forced him look like Luigi doesn't change who the game identifies the entity as.
So Player 2:
1. Can't pick up items (That includes money?)
2. Can't use keys to open doors Player 1 has the key(s) for.
3. Can move in cutscenes, but directions are relative to camera angles.
4. Can damage ghosts, if equipment is hacked in, but captures aren't documented/acknowledged by the game. (Poor Poltergust hacking?)
5. Cannot recover HP, nor use Power Ups.
6. Cannot beat mice and other enemies? (I thought you said he could damage ghosts!) Nor affect Boolossus.
7. Can still affect some things in a limited way, like the curtains; It might need both players, but maybe there's stuff that only needs one?
8. Stuff can be unloaded if P1 goes too far. Might be useful for some kind of sequence breaking?
9. Player 2 needs a long time to open doors. Maybe this has to do with the Poltergust-hacking in?
I'd like to see a category involving 2 Players.
It'd be interesting to see this as a category. Maybe there are some vacuum-during-cutscene based sequence breaks. Alternatively, P2 does combat, P1 collects stuff?
