Isla Mujeres is an example of Paradice Lost. We spent time on the island before the tourist. We also spent time in Playa del Carmin when the roads were dirt and there were turkey's and pigs wandering the streets. The moral of the story is that if you find paradise keep it to yourself. I now go inland small villages, doing my best not to cause harm. I am afraid the Maya Tren will destroy the rest of the Yucatan.
If you love that. Go to Holbox. It’s 2 hours north of Cancun. Amazing little island. The streets are dirt, I think the best sunsets and amazing street food at night. The restaurants are great also.
20 or 30 min.? the island is 5 mi long. Cabs are one of the only reasonable things on Isla. Golf carts used to be $50.00 per day now they are double that.
The resort I stayed at, Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets, arranged the boat ride, so I'm not sure of the company or if the boats are just run by the resort. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

Beautiful place, but everything is way overpriced. Cabs and most people are always trying to rip you off.
