Just to clarify, I would only be wearing the jacket zipped up over the Fanny pack when going past the gate agent and onto the plane. You would have to remove the jacket and Fanny pack when going through airport security 😊
In Paris they made me take off a very thin scarf, as well as asking me to remove the elastic that was holding my hair in a ponytail. 😒
Super glad you mentioned this because I was 🤔 thinking does she get away with that? My last trip they had me take off my shirt, I had a thin nude supportive cami (think shapewear type tank) only under it thinking it would just be more comfortable than wearing a bra on the long plane ride but certainly didn't consider it a shirt under a shirt that would need to be removed. I was rather embarrassed and will remember never to do that again. It felt close to standing there nude. I just had to decide no one I knew was around to tell anyone and people have went through worse but I definitely didn't like it.
@@KAT00035They are nuts at Paris TSA.
I giggled at your bubble butt demo! I was planning on packing a cargo type jacket anyway, now I have a purpose for all those pockets!
I love the mini pillowcase hack
Noise cancelling headphones! Game changer!
Absolutely worth every penny!! I did not realize how much fatigue the airplane noise causes. It's also wonderful to block out loud talkers, crying kids, and overly chatty seatmates.
I’ve only recently learned a Fanny pack/sling bag worn either on the waist or across the chest/back is allowed as a wardrobe accessory and not a personal item. I’ve always stuffed mine into my personal item bag, then removed it in order to move easily around the airport before boarding and after landing.
Not at OHare in Chicago pre-pandemic. I had to empty my waist bag to stuff the contents into my personal item, then rolled the up & stuck in my coat pocket. I was finally permitted to board for my 50' flight home. I'd arrived at my worksite airport 26 hours earlier so I knew I'd best not argue too much this close to home.
Nice list! I should think about this more before our next flight. The main things I bring on the plane are: hoodie sweater, socks, snacks, wet wipes, tissues, masks, pen, passports, phone. I usually have some little alcohol wipes on me too. 🌺✈Heidi
You can also sew (or iron on tape) a small pocket in your scarf to hold flat items.
Thanks for the great tips! I put my lotion, lip balm and eye drops in a snack sized baggie inside of my liquid bag. Then when I am at the gate, I can pull that out to have on me for the plane ride! I'm going to have to try that solid hand lotion!
Great idea!! 😊
Smart tip!
I did the same. Kind of bag inside the liquid bag. The liquid item bag is in my carry on. Put it out after the security and put it in my personal item bag. Works super great
@@sommerblume11 Doesn't that just make your life so much easier!
@@GenxGypsy1968 I understand you are from the south. Where in particular if you don't mind my asking. Just curious. I'm from Texas.
New subscriber here! Thanks so much for your great tips and advice! I have a travel vest with multiple pockets that I love and wear during flights, and I also have a scarf with zipper pockets.
Hahahahaha glad I'm not the only one! I've been doing this since 2018 because i really don't want my essentials to be separated from me & it'shard to dig through my carry on or personal bag. This way i get 3 bags 😂
I have a travel vest with about 10 pockets, including 2 interior with zips. Have been using them for decades, also great for not uaving to bend down and rummage through underseat bag looking for stuff. Ive found that wrist pressure bands are helpful to reduce motion discomfort.
Women were being asked to remove their cross body and belt bags and put them in their personal item bag on my last flight.
The maximum size for a personal item bag was 9x13 inches.
Yes, I've been caught several times, especially with waist pack. However, I have a small cross body I wear under a blazer that is overlooked 95% of the time.
A quilted vest is great in fall and winter for hiding a cross body bag .
Great ideas. Thanks😘
Frequent spirit flyer i hid my Fanny pack under my sweater. Always bring my packable Patagonia jacket. I dislike being cold. Wipes are a must, portable charger, and sunglasses.
A packable Patagonia jacket is on my wish list ❤️
Ear pods! Hey thanks for the tips, cheese string for a snack is a GREAT idea!
One of my favorites! Of course, I'm still a big fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches too 😊
The pillowcase idea is awesome! New subscriber here! I love your sense of humor too😊
Thank you!! I always wonder if its coming across or not, LOL 😊
I never travel without airborne or. Jet lag pills huge game changer. Do airborne everyday traveling and twice day traveling to and from home.
Fun packing hacks! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you like them! 😊
Genius ideas from you as usual. :-)
Thank you! 😊
What is the name black backpack and where did you buy this ?
Great video very interesting information. Thank you. I love that cargo jacket and fanny pack hack. My apologies if this question sounds dumb since I haven’t flown since before 9/11. Wondering how do you get this through the security at the airport? Don’t you have to take off your jacket, scarf and Fannypack to get through the x-ray machine? You have to put that back on before boarding the plane. Again, I haven’t flown in a long time, so not sure how that works.
Hi! Travelers are allowed to have items in their jacket/coat pockets going through the security checkpoint on the conveyor belt. whether it is your rain jacket, travel vest, etc. Then just put it back on after you get through security. I have not traveled with a fanny pack/waist pouch in addition to the personal item and carry on luggage, but you would place it on the conveyor belt and then put it back on. I see people wear them with a jacket on top or under their shirt.
Do you have a link to the sling bag? Thank you. Just came across your video. Love he tips. 😊
Thank you! Here is a link for the black sling bag, I think that's the one you're asking about: amzn.to/3BY5hAH
Do you have a link to the solid lotion?
My question is where does the full jacket of things and Fanny pack go when you go thru TSA?
I was thinking the same thing. The jacket has to come off and go through security too. 🤷♀️
@@mimistans7715 tsa is not going to call/tell airline you have a fanny pack under your jacket. Just take all off at tsa and put everything thru xray. Then put everything back on after getting thru tsa.
Great videos and great content. Am a brand new suscriber to your channel and already commented on many of your videos.
Welcome aboard! 😊
Great tips 😊 What brand is your black sling bag? I didn’t see it listed and I’ve been thinking of looking into a sling bag. I can’t travel without my iPad for my books and magazines and its way too large for a Fanny pack or a jacket pocket.
It is a NuPouch, not sure if it is on Amazon, I bought it at a outdoors store here locally. I would say it’s still a bit on the small side to hold an iPad. I think you’ll need something just a tidge bigger 😊
Delta recently has been telling everyone to remove their small crossbody or waist bags and put it in their personal item before boarding, so that trick is no longer workable.
What is the ONE item you could not fly without?? Mine is my kindle 📖
My iPhone 12
Lip balm
My phone- I have the kindle app on my phone so I don't need a kindle👍
I agree
Attitude makes bar lotions etc.
I thought you had to take your jacket off to go through security? And you step into that detection thing?
Yes, the jacket and the fanny pack would have to come off when you are going through airport security. In the video I'm demonstrating how I would wear these items only at the time of passing the gate attendant and boarding the plane. 😊
I just got back from San Antonio and as usual I packed why too much
I loved your video many greetings from the distance from Mexico City, new subscriber.
The most important thing to me when I fly is comfort. I am not going to carry on that on my body. Just put the Fanny pack in the underseater.
Is a sling bag considered attire?
No, they consider it a personal item, like a purse or backpack 😊
I do the same with a small sling bag under a jacket, I've gotten away with it everytime except one time a Nazi boarding agent eagle eyed it lol. Had to shove it in my underseater lol.
How do ppl bring that little bag ??? I need to take off my jacket in Europe...
I guess that in July August you'll have to pack also an Air conditioner, maybe under the tongue? This video is way netter than a sitcom on Netflix.
I like the fanny pack idea, I would rather look pregnant than have a bigger bubble butt! Thanks for the suggestion.
Lotion bar is currently unavailable.
Oh no, here's the same brand but with a peppermint scent: amzn.to/3XKpdB6
Not sure why the fanny pack couldn’t be worn over the jacket. How strict is the airline really? Would it not be considered as a handbag?
The budget airlines are very strict with their baggage allowance and if you have purchased a ticket that only includes one personal item, that is all you are allowed. So if you have a backpack or duffel bag with your clothes, etc., you cannot have another bag, like a purse or Fanny pack. They will charge you for the extra baggage, usually about $50. It’s one of the cons you have to consider before buying a budget airline ticket! 😊
I can't travel w/out lip balm, lotion, water & head phones. Great video as always.❤
Thank you 😊
We have Apple AirTags on Everything, including expensive purses.
Love your videos!!! Honestly I would go for the booty than the side pack. The side pack is a little obvious. Plus, who is going to check if that booty is real lol
I would’ve kept it on my back a bIt more visually believable 👀 Solid lotion great from Etsy
yeah your gunna get searched looking extra lumpy
A free pat down never hurt anyone 😂
You have to take your jacket off so not sure how you are getting by with that
Strickter and Strickter???
Unintentionally punny?? 😂
I don’t believe you are allowed nuts on a plane these days because of people with nut allergies.
You can bring nuts, the airlines don't generally give nuts out anymore. It is nice not to bring peanuts (which isn't really a nut) because so many people are allergic specifically to peanuts. 😊
You kinda look like the Michelin Man.
There's a point where it gets ridiculous.
Just pay the extra fee or stop flying El Cheapo Airlines.
Some Airlines allow only 7 kilograms and no hand luggage. So a good vest/jacket is a good idea when traveling for 24 or more hours with a stop for only 2 hours, you don't want to much hand luggage as you go from one gate to another. Have had a very short transfer by the same airline.
I check my bags for that reason. Been through too many terminals walking one end to another where wheeling around anything would be a huge inconvenience. Not to mention the jostle for space in overhead bins.
Great point! Weighing bags is common in Europe and Asia. Nothing is worse than retreiving your checked bag so you can lighten your carry on, then re-checking that bag! Never again!
I stopped checking bags when my work clothes arrived 2+ days after I did. I'll never go back to check-in. I can pack for 3-4 weeks in a carryon and one personal item. No waiting after landing either.
Isn't it incredibly uncomfortable flying when wearing that jacket?
Not as uncomfortable as not having something you really need/want when you're stuck on an airplane.
I would only have the jacket zipped up with the fanny pack under it when making my way past the airline gate attendent. Once on the plane I would unzip the jacket and take the fanny pack off. Depending on how hard the A/C is blasting, I might even take the jacket off while flying too. The jacket is actually pretty comfortable and has been a travel outfit staple for several years 😊
But I would think they would make you put it into the bin to go through security screening.
@@mimistans7715 Yes, you would have to take the jacket and the Fanny pack off for security. I would only wear the jacket zipped up like this when passing by the gate agent and boarding the plane 😊
